Friday Free-For-All

Hey, everyone! Welcome to the first full weekend of 2010! As you all know, today is Friday so we have a free-for-all where you can let your imaginations and pairings go wild.

First, brief reminder of the rules:

You may only post 3 prompts per genre

You are free to prompt up to 5 at a time and add more once your prompts start being answered. Just be kind for our codemonkeys and don't go too crazy!

No spoilers in prompts for at least seven days after the original airdate or publication date. If you have spoilers in your fic, please warn in bold and leave at least three spaces.

Please also follow the format as stated below:

Criminal Minds, Morgan/Reid, Lazy Fest

Numb3rs/Stargate: Atlantis, Don/Sheppard, "That thing you do."

If none of the posted prompts catch your eye, feel free to look through our Lonely Prompts archive at delicious.

Happy Friday, people!

“I acquired you that accompanying text of what you have been transliterating. The Cuneiform is slightly different from what you have been reading. If you need any help in the translation, I gladly offer my help.”

“Yeah? Thanks. Hopefully it ain’t too far a jump for me. Took me a while to handle Assyrian, but Sumerian I’m think I got. I’ll let you know.”

“Of course, Robert.”

“Bobby, please. Only my mother and nuns call me Robert.”

“Of course, Bobby.”

“Where are you off to now?”

“There is a place I have not been to in some time I would like to see.”

“Business or pleasure?”

“I find pleasure in my business.”

“Careful in sayin’ stuff like that in front of the boys, it’s like chum for them.”

“I do not see-“

“O’course you don’t…oh damn, you’re right, this Cuneiform is a bit trickier.”

“There are a few centuries separating this dialect and the one you know. These markings here and here correlate to those you’ve written down there.”

“They look nothin’ alike.”

“No they do not.”

“Huh.”

“Their language is becoming more complicated by outside influences of neighboring cultures.”

“Oh speakin’ of, I got this hunter passing through the other day askin’ for some information on a book he found. I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. Figured you might want to take a look.”

“Yes, I do have some time before I would like to leave.”

“Great, thanks.”

“Of course, Robert.”

So, this got long enough that it didn't really make sense to post it in lots of parts here. So...

Splits In The Skin. I Have Chosen My Family And You Are Not It.

Preview:

"This is important to me." Bobby murmurs. John wriggles his arm to let it fall around Bobby's shoulder.

"I know. I promise not to burn anything down, or be too sarcastic or rude or any of the other three hundred things Kitty and Rogue told me not to do." John drawls, but without an edge. Bobby looks up at him in surprise.

"Kitty and Rogue talked to you?" He asks, frowning in confusion. John rolls his eyes.

"Everyone talked to me. Rogue and Kitty had a list of things John Is Not Allowed To Do While Meeting Bobby's Parents. Storm took me aside and gave me the whole 'If you are serious about Bobby' talk all over again. Piotr was big and scary in my direction all through breakfast and Logan threatened to kill me. Again."

"Oh." Bobby manages, although he looks suspiciously like he's trying not to laugh. John bumps him with his shoulder.

"It'll be fine Bobby." John says again.

Oh.
My. Yes, Sam, be nice to the crazy archangel. You know some stuff about sadness too.

[identity profile] kelios.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
They don't really fit in here anymore, not like this. Dean, sprawled across the seat, spine bowed, head thrown back. Sam, folded over him, gasping, one knee in the floorboard, the other wedged against the seat and barely able to move. But this is where it started, and where it ended, and where it began again, and there's nowhere else they'd rather be.

Re: omg i've got a mad on to write this, you have no idea.

[identity profile] kelios.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome! I love Gabriel and I so want him to be a good guy, so this is perfect!

Yay! I love him too and you just know he's gonna end up with some kind of moral compass, even if it's a kinda twisted one.

*is praying he shows up again before the end of the season*

Cats and Books and, Dick/Tim, PG

[identity profile] ms-duck.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Dick's 'amazing' hand walking comes to an abrupt end when he falls all over a large pile of books.

He jumps at a loud, violent sound and wonders if an animal got in the house. But it was just Tim. An angry Tim at that.

"What are you doing?!" Dick was reminded very much of cats. The really prissy kind. Or maybe one of the sleeker ones. "Have you no respect for books?"

He wants very badly to make a joke but he's only partially certain Tim won't kill him where he lay, books or no.

"Oops?" He offers helpfully and hopefully but Tim is getting a little tic that says 'no, I really will castrate you'. He therefore does what any good Robin would do. Distract and then run.

Unfortunately, kissing Tim traps him and Tim has an evil look on his face. He foresees this not ending well.

Cruelty to Robins, Jason/Tim, PG-13

[identity profile] ms-duck.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Jason is going to find that Cupid asshole and tear him into tiny little pieces and then stomp on him. But first he has to do something about the poor baby bird clinging to him.

Shivers and whimpers out of him normally turn him on but they were in public and Tim wasn't a consenting party to this.

"Shh." He carries Tim to the nearest alley and out of the public eye. Strokes his face and... Doesn't have to do anything else because he's already come. "Fuck."

"I-I--"

"It's fine, baby bird, let's get you home." Or at least to the Redbird.

Tiny little pieces, some stomping and then a flamethrower.

On the right wall of the garage proper, there’s a little corner almost especially separated from the rest of the morass of oil and rags and tools. Here, a carefully recapped oil stood, surrounded by Chevy specific spare parts. A few odd rags with strange stains on them. On top of all this, perched a shoebox containing, of all things, actual cassette tapes, with masking tape labels declaring them to be ‘road mix #1’ and ‘california mix : sammy’.

In amongst the piles and piles of text obscure and obscurer, ranging from sirens to werewolves to tulpas and to ghosts, there’s a corner of books that look far more modern than everything else in the house. A second study table forgotten and reclaimed by Butterworth’s ‘Negotiation: Theories and Techniques’ and Cartier’s ‘Effective Legal Research’ that was barely prevented from slipping off the table itself by a well used IPod dock.

In the corner of Bobby’s porch, there’s a creaky old loveseat that used to actually swing but only really just threatens to nowadays. It has a perfect view of the road incoming, a nearby table with a moisture mark from too many beers perfectly outlined on the chipping paint.

From that seat, Bobby looks up from where he was consulting an old and dusty book. In the distance, the low rumble of a Chevy Impala echoed down the driveway.

Because Wolverine made me a Pyro/Remy shipper

[identity profile] smaragdbird.livejournal.com 2010-01-16 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)

'Hi, I'm Bobby!'

'Let's go get icecream.'

'I love you, Johnny.'

'Hi, I'm Bobby. What's'
'Rogue.'

'Will you stop showing off?'
'What, for her? It's not my fault if your girlfriend's getting excited.'

'Whoa. What do you think you're doing. '
'You always do what you're told?'

'Same old Bobby. Still afraid of a fight!'

'You never should have left.'

It was always the same dream. Always the same flash of memories, Bobby laughing, Bobby smiling, Bobby leaning in to kiss him, Bobby, Bobby, Bobby. Warm, yielding and loving. Indifferent. Cold and unforgiving.
'What it is, cher?' asked a sleepy voice next to him.
'Nothing.' John lied: 'Go back to sleep, Remy.'

Here you are. It's Supernatural, Dean & Sam. Hope you enjoy.

---

Sam and Dean have made a life of knowing when the time is right to stand, sit, and run.

There’s no other way to say it but to say they are simply good at it. This job, that isn’t a job, is their lifeblood. Their hearts pump out there next move. If they don’t listen to it, it’s their mistake, of which none can afford.

Dean remembers hearing a song at a roadside diner some time ago;

“Ev’ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin’ is knowin’ what to throw away and knowing what to keep. ‘Cause ev’ry hand’s a winner and ev’ry hand’s a loser, and the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.”

This whole End of Days thing, he knows, just knows he should be running. Go see the Grand Canyon finally, find some beachside motel where he can sit outside with a six pack and watch the sunrise, or sunset (depending on the coast). He should be doing that because he knows his hand; he and his brother’s.

But then he’s never been a safe gambler, and if there’s one thing Dean knows better than anything else it’s bluffing.

Okay, I have no idea if you have ever watched the show "Life". But for some reason this prompt inspired some Life fic. Hope you don't mind.

“What is this, Charlie?”

“A room. Within a house. In a cit-“

“Crews.”

“You know what this is.”

“So this is what you’ve been doing.”

“If you’re mad, because you got that look on your face like you are, know that you never asked-“

“I asked.”

“-the right question though?”

“I had to be specific?”

“With me, yes.”

“I’ll remember that for later. This can’t be healthy.”

“If it makes you feel better, I don’t stay in here too long.”

“Really?”

“Really. It’s. It’s a small space.”

“Right. Oh. Right.”

“I just figured, you’d want to know. Since…”

“Yeah…Ted knows about this room, doesn’t he?”

“I know he doesn’t look it, but he’s a steal trap. Hard to pry open, like a coconut. I think we should go get some mango, wanna go get some mango?”

“How about Tai?”

“Tai is good. Tai is great.”

“Okay, but don’t think we’re done talking about this…wall, room, whatever.”

“Alright.”

“You’re…you are something else, Crews.”

I’m following the white hare like I’m on a tether.”

“That, doesn’t sound zen.”

"I don't think it is."

well, I only know the movies so I have no material to compare but movieRemy offered me a new charcter to torture and put in a lovetriangle, so yes, I quite liked him(if not the rest of Origins except for Deadpool. Deadpool was awesome)

Captain Hammer had a plan. A wickedly, brilliant plan. And he was going to put it in action ASAP.
The first time that he saw Dr. Horrible in danger, he came to the rescue. He pulled the villain out of the Foam of Death, made undoubtedly by Bad Horse.
'What are you doing?' Horrible asked after he had caught his breath and realized that yes, Hammer had done this.
'Saving you, of course.'
'Saving me? From what?'
'The Foam of Death.'
Horrible rolled his eyes.
'I put too much soap in my laundry machine. Great job, superhero.'
Hammer was nearly pouting. If he actually ever did pout, he would've done it, for sure.
'So it wasn't one of Bad Horse's evil plans?'
'Not at all.'
Horrible looked up at Hammer, both of them unsure as to what to say next. Hammer thought of something first.
'So I'm not going to have 'thanks-for-saving-me'-sex?'
Well, he could try.
'Is that why you did this? You could've spared yourself the trouble. I don't sleep with my nemesis.'
'You just didn't realize how ruggedly handsome I am. Rest assured, you will find out sooner or later that in fact you do want to sleep with me.'
'Whatever, Hammer. Can I finish my laundry now?'
Hammer left the laundromat, promising himself that next time, he would land Dr. Horrible in his bed. No matter what.

Thanks for answering the promt and sorry for the late reply, I somehow missed this one.
