Monday: 14 Words

Hello, fellow Comment Ficcers! I will be your hostess for this week, and I am [livejournal.com profile] 4bdnsn0wflake. I hope everyone has a fun and inspired time over the next five days.

As it is the week of Valentine’s Day, our themes will relate to love in some way.

So, it’s Valentine’s Day proper, but it’s also a Monday, and you know I always like to start off with a word count theme. In the spirit of the date, let’s do 14 Word fills.

Prompts can be anything, but fills should be fourteen words, or multiples thereof.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...

+ The Boondocks Saints, Murphy MacManus(+any), he still remembers the first girl he asked to be his Valentine

+ MCU, Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes, massage oils

+ Ouran High School Host Club, Ootori Kyouya/Souh Tamaki, shut up and kiss me

+ Author’s choice, any character(s), single on Valentine’s Day and loving it

We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2022 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.

While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Fill: The Baby-Sitter's Club - Abby Stevenson/Dawn Scha

"Listen to this," Dawn said, looking up from the tattered paperback she'd had her nose buried in for almost the entirety of the drive. Reaching forward, she flicked the radio off.

"What?" Abby asked. Whatever this was, it better be worth turning off Darlene Love!

"Rumor has it that our hotel is haunted."

Abby arched an eyebrow. "Really?"

Dawn nodded. "Really," she replied. "A silent film actor was shot in the lobby in the early twenties by one of his rivals. Some say the studio he was working for actually arranged the hit."

Abby's eyes widened. "Wow!" Though, if she was being honest with herself, something told her that wasn't exactly new information to Dawn.

"That's not all," Dawn continued. "A couple people are said to have gone missing before they could check out. In the fifties, a gangster was found dead in his room by housekeeping staff."

"Was it murder?"

"Not according to his death certificate," Dawn replied, smirking, "though I have my own theories." She looked back to her book. "It says here that guests have reported hearing odd noises in the night - moaning, shrieks, muffled conversations, stuff like that. Others say they feel like they're being watched."

Abby snorted. "Do the ghosts not have anything better to do than be busybodies?"

Dawn rolled her eyes. "Other people say that their bathroom sink keeps getting turned on, even when they haven't used it." She shivered. "I hope that doesn't happen to us."

"But I thought you liked ghosts!"

"That's no excuse for them to waste water!"

Abby shook her head. Wasn't it just her luck that they might not even be alone after finally getting a weekend together?

Honestly a haunted house is romantic to me (It's the basis of my next novel!) so I absolutely loved this. thank you

Ooh, that sounds awesome!

I don't know if I'd call it romantic, but visiting an allegedly haunted hotel is definitely on my bucket list.
