Giovedì - Stranger in a Strange Land

Please remember the rules. No more than five prompts in a row, no more than three per fandom. Come on back and prompt more once yours have been answered. No spoilers in the prompts, and if your story has spoilers, please warn and leave at least three spaces before starting the story.
For the sake of Our Code Monkeys, please leave your prompt properly. For example:
DCU/Marvel, Pre-Crisis Jason Todd, Lian Harper, Young Avengers, "This isn't my home."
DCU, Jason Todd/Tim Drake, Jason comes back to his own Earth late after being abandoned during his trip around the multiverse and find that he's the stranger on his own Earth now
DCU, Owen Mercer/Kara Zor-El, he comes out of hiding during Blackest Night to find everyone thinks he's evil and dead, and he hates how Kara looks at him like a stranger now...
If nothing ends up being your thing today, there's always lots of Lonely Prompts that could use some loving. <3
Have fun!

It’s the first mission he’s done on his own, no Jim, no Bucky, none of the Invaders, and it’s really different.
For one thing, the weather.
Despite what the British may claim, it doesn’t rain every day in Europe. Just feels like that sometimes.
Here, it’s always warm, feels like he hasn’t worn a shirt since he got here. No one else seems to either, so it’s not a big deal.
Strutting around, bait for brains. Bucky’s voice in his head mocks him.
The guys he’s with are different too.
He’s worked with Marines before, in Europe, both British and American. They’re...they all seem so old, even though they’re all about the same age.
These guys...they’re just kids, or they seem to act like them. He’s not sure if it’s that cause they haven’t seen as much or if they’ve seen more.
Things are bad here.
Its Jungle warfare and Kamikaze. Death on the individual, rather than on mass. He can’t decide whether that’s better or worse.
One death is a tragedy, a million is a static. Stalin’s words, he thinks, but he remembers Steve quoting them. Trying to explain why Bucky is as affected as him. Or why the Germans, French, everyone really allowed this to happen.
He hugs himself.
He wants to go home, back to Pappy, Steve, heck even to Bucky. He thinks Bucky would probably laugh at him if he knew that.
He sighs, looking out over the blue water so different to the grey blue of the English Channel. He’s back in America, but he wants to go home!!!
