I took some liberties with the prompt but it's still Sam/Lenore...hope that's alright!

Fighting a pair of mated shifters was not on Sam’s to-do list. Especially not when Dean had disappeared and he was about this close to losing all grip on his consciousness.

He had barely blinked when a dark blur entered his field of vision and the shifters howled out in pain. Sam searched out what he was looking for when she leaned down over him. “You saved me once, trust me to return the favor.”

Sam swallowed down everything that told him not to trust her, Lenore a vampire, as he handed over the silver blade and watched her work. She had them taken care of within moments and she was kneeling next to him, gentle fingers prodding at his forehead.

“You’re hurt.” She swallowed and turned away. “Where are you staying?”

“A motel a few blocks away.”

“Your brother, is he with you?” Lenore prompted as she helped Sam up and started walking with him.

“He’s missing at the moment.” Sam grunted out. “Don’t know where he went to.”

“Something about you has changed, Sam.” Lenore said more to herself as they drifted off into a quiet frog walk back to the motel room. “You’re trying to fight it.”

“Demon blood,” Sam answered right when they got to the door. “I have demon blood in my veins. It makes me want to do things I shouldn’t ever want to do.”

Lenore gave a gentle smile as she nudged Sam through the doorway, “We’re more alike than we thought.”

“Freaks of our own race?” Sam snorted, “Sorry that was a bit harsh.”

“You’re not a freak Sam. Not for fighting against the darker side of your nature,” Lenore gestured for Sam to settle on the bed and she started tugging at his clothes, “Lets get you fixed up before your brother comes in here and decides I’m trying to make a meal out of you.”

Sam laughed and grimaced at the pain that shot through his side from the action. “That would be an awesome idea.”

Sam let Lenore work with gentle pokes and prods before she ended up stitching a few of the deeper gashes. She made a quick run for ice and then she headed back for pain killers and she rubbed a hand over Sam’s sleep slacked face. “You really are something else Sam Winchester. Kind to those most wouldn’t be and you fight your own darkness. You are the light inside the dark.”

Lenore leaned down to press a kiss to the corner of his lips and she jumped back when Sam’s eyes opened up. “You kissed me.”

“Possibly.” Lenore ducked her head down and Sam pressed his fingertips to her cheek. He traced just below her lips and watched as she parted her lips in surprise. “You really are different Sam.”

“I like to believe we all are different from what everyone first believes us to be. The only us really knows what our blood holds.”
