Yom Chamishi - *Punk; (or Cyberpunk Derivatives)
I'm your host,
ryuutchi, and it's my last day! Your final theme from me this week is "*Punk"-- that is, any cyberpunk derivative you want to get your grubby little hands on. Steampunk, atompunk, dieselpunk, biopunk, silkpunk, mythpunk-- you name it!
If you don't have any idea what I'm talking about, here are some links that might jumpstart your imagination: 1, 2, 3
Please remember to format your prompts in the proper manner-- as such:
DCU, Lex Luthor, Luthor Corp as an industrial giant in a world still trapped in the midst of the industrial revolution
Hanna is Not a Boy's Name, {...}/Hanna, Victorientalism
Star Trek Reboot, Kirk/McCoy, The Glass and Clockwork City
Young Avengers, Kate Bishop/Eli Bradley, In a world defined by atomic power and a Cold War, only an elite few have the ear of the President
You should know the rules by now, but if you don't, here they are:
If there's nothing here that catches your eye, feel free to go though our Lonely Prompts

- No more than three prompts per fandom.
- No more than five prompts at a time (though after you get one or more of your prompts filled, you are free to leave more).
- No spoilers in your prompts until a week after air date or publication.
- Warn for spoilers in your fic in bold and with at least three spaces above your fic.

curiosities at the edge of the world (2/2)
"Hey," she calls back towards the door. "Hey, I found it!"
"Whaddya got?" she hears the shop-owner ask. Then he pushes his way through the beads and stills. "Oh." The clock ticks faster, and the guy shoves a hand through his hair. "That? You want that?"
"Yup," Jo says, tightening her grip on the angel's hand. The shop-owner sighs and starts pulling items aside.
It takes half an hour to unearth him and put him in a crate. The last thing she sees of him is the shop-owner folding the creaking wings down to fit before nailing the lid on. Jo finds herself standing at the counter afterward, wondering why she didn't ask about the price before going through all that trouble. She only has a few bucks in her wallet, and this just doesn't seem like the sort of place that takes cards.
"What does the cost come to?" she asks.
The man behind the counter leans forward on his elbows. "What you got?"
Jo pulls out her wallet. "Four dollars. Maybe a little more in change."
"What's this?" the guy asks, looping a finger into her wallet and pulling out a photograph of Jo and her dad from when she was a kid.
"Just a picture," she says, making a grab at it.
He flicks it out of her reach and clucks under his breath. "A photograph holds part of the soul, you know. You people, in this day and age! You spread yourselves too thin. A thousand Facebook photos, jeez. Still! It'll do. Four bucks and the pic, kiddo."
"That's creepy, man. No way a statue like that goes for four dollars," Jo frowns. "You some sort of sicko, getting off on pictures of people?"
"Joanna Beth Harvelle," the man says, deadly serious, and Jo flinches in fear. "That's my brother you're walking out of here with, and I never thought he'd go. I thought Dad's plan was to leave him back there forever as punishment, like he's punishing me for running away. So I think one tiny little piece of your soul is a real bargain."
She tries to step back, but he seizes one of her wrists. "What do you mean, brother? It's a broken statue." she asks, tugging against his grip.
The man jerks her forward, puts her hand against his chest. That's when she feels it, the steady tick tick tick of the clock that she'd been hearing, but coming from inside him.
"It'll take a long time before he runs again," he says, low. "And a lot of work. He's busted up pretty good. Let him be good when he wakes up, Jo. I remember when he was kind, in the beginning. Let him be kind."
"Okay," she whispers. "Okay."
"Okay," he agrees, and drops her hand so he can scoop up the four dollars and the photograph from the countertop. "You ever meet somebody you think'll like me, you send 'em here, okay?" he adds, and Jo nods mutely.
He watches her leave, and she'd swear she can hear a clock winding down as the door shuts behind her.
She glances at the crate in the rear-view mirror as she drives her pick-up home and wonders what she's done.
