Monday: TV Tropes

Good morning/afternoon/evening, everyone. I'll be your guest host for the week & I'll always try to post as close to 12am PST as I can (though of course there may be times when I fall asleep & post a little late... which is what's happening right now, please forgive me). Our first theme is TV Tropes. Invariably, all forms of entertainment media rely on tried-&-true creative devices to shape their stories, develop their characters, just get their points across, etc, & today we're using those tropes as prompts.

You can visit the TV Tropes site here & pick out any trope(s) you like. Careful, though - people sometimes get lost in that site, it's so vast & so awesome!

Please keep these rules in mind when posting prompts:
  • Only three prompts for the same fandom.
  • Only five prompts in a row (though if one of your prompts is filled, you can prompt again).
  • No spoilers in your prompts for at least a week after the airdate/release.
  • Warn for any spoilers for your fic in bold and leave at least three spaces before the text.
Prompt formatting examples (because proper formatting for the code monkeys is good manners):

Supernatural, Dean/Castiel, hands-on approach
Inception, Arthur/Eames, did I just say that out loud?
CWRPS/Supernatural, Misha/Castiel/Dean, the existence of an identical stranger should probably be a bit more upsetting... though, at the moment, Dean's having a hard time remembering why

Nothing really interesting you today? That's alright, there are plenty of Lonely Prompts out there waiting for love.

Alright, you crazy kids. Have fun!

Heterosexual Dean 5/5

4) The Bar

They'd killed Todd. And even though Todd was a skin-walker and a witch, it still always kind of gets to Dean, just a little bit, because he looks human. The ooze helps alleviate that guilt a little, though.

Booze does, too.

Sam's chatting up a brunette at the other end of the bar (slipped her some holy water and salt at Dean's insistence), and Dean's content to drink alone for now.

Except a mere moment later, he feels that familiar prickle of sensation that tells him Cas has just zapped himself here. And then he feels hot breath on the back of his neck and he knows that Cas still can't remember and apply their talk about personal space.

"You want a drink, Cas?"

Cas takes a moment to respond, and Dean can imagine Cas' head tilt, considering his options before his reply.

"Yes, Dean. I supposed I could use a drink. Whiskey neat, please."

Dean gets the bar tender's attention, and since there are no open stools, when he turns around to finally look at Cas, he's not surprised to find Cas still in his space.

The disturbing thing is he's getting used to it.

Even more disturbing? It's kind of comforting.

Dean takes a swig of his beer and his mouth betrays him when he asks Cas, "Did you really mean all that?"

He doesn't elaborate, but he's unsurprised when Cas immediately knows what he's talking about.

"Of course I did, Dean. I wouldn't lie about something like that. You seem unwilling to admit that you possess many admirable qualities."

Dean looks away, embarrassed, but out of the corner of his eye, he sees Cas down his recently-arrived whiskey in one go.

Dean suddenly gets hit with the sense memory of holding Cas' hand in his, and he can't help but remember how right it had felt in retrospect.

Dean slowly looks back towards Cas and unsurprisingly, the angel is staring at him. Dean gets the distinct and not unfamiliar feeling that Cas is reading his mind or his soul or something, and it all sort of just clicks into place.

He knows he should be more disturbed by this turn of events, but after going to hell, being brought back, and now facing the apocalypse, he kind of doesn't care about the particulars. He just knows what he knows.

He places his hand on Cas' on the bar and leans in slightly.

"I forgot the most important thing."

"What important thing?" Cas asks, entranced.

"What I like most about you." Dean knows it will sound selfish, but he also knows that Cas won't see it that way. "You know me, body and soul, and for some reason you still stand by me."

"Of course I do, Dean, you are righteous and--" Dean cuts him off with a soft kiss, and he knows he's finally found what he's been looking for. For 70 years he's searched, and now after everything, he's finally found it.

5) The Motel - Part Deux

That night, when Dean and Cas went to book their own motel room, Dean didn't care what the clerk thought.

Or what Sam thought. (The teasing didn't even bother him--not yet, not when all of this was so new and felt so good--but tomorrow would be a different story and probably be the beginning of an epic prank war. And Dean knew he'd win, because he had a badass angel on his side.)

And when Dean woke up the next morning, warm and sated and sore in certain unfamiliar places, wrapped up in Cas, all he could say was, "I am so gay."

LOL! I loved Dean's slow realization that he is so gay for Cas. And the final part was so cute!
