Thursday: On Vacation

My last day... *pout* I shall have to come up with some crazy themes and do this again!

Today's theme is On Vacation.

After yesterday's insanity, our characters really need a break. What do they do to get away from their normal lives?

Please think about our wonderful codemonkeys and use the correct format (the second is for crossovers).

Fandom, Pairing, Prompt
Fandom1/Fandom2, Pairing, Prompt

Firefly, River, Building sand-castles on the beach
Torchwood/Heroes, Jack/Ianto/Gabriel, A broken stopwatch spoils half their vacation plans

Please remember not to post more than 5 prompts in a row and more than 3 prompts per fandom. If one or more of your prompts are answered, you can prompt again later in the day.

If you don't see anything you like, you can always Adopt a Lonely Prompt.

Dollhouse, Adelle/Claire, "I know a place we could go."

After Alpha’s second attack, Claire was distant. She worked silently, ignored the barbs from Topher’s that she normally would have responded to, and avoided Adelle. The older woman seemed to be the only one that noticed how troubled Claire was, the only one that wanted to help her, and the only one that Claire seemed set on evading.

She felt worried for the younger woman, for more reasons than one, and as Adelle passed Claire’s office one morning, she noticed the door was wide open. She hesitantly moved forward, peering inside, and nearly smiled when she saw Claire at her desk looking more relaxed than she had in months. “Do you need time off?” Adelle asked after a moment, her voice soft.

Claire looked up from the folder in her hands and found Adelle leaning against the doorway with her arms crossed over her chest. “Time off?” Claire repeated, unsure of where the conversation was going.

“Maybe if you went away, just for a little while, it would help.” Adelle moved further into the office and continued until she was standing next to the younger woman. She let her arms fall and rested her hand on Claire’s shoulder.

“I’d prefer to stay here.” Claire kept her eyes trained on her desk, staring at nothing in particular but not wanting to meet the older woman’s gaze. “But thank you.”

Adelle bent down and placed one hand on Claire’s knee while the other moved up to gently cup her cheek. “I’ll go with you. I don’t want you to be alone. I want to help you through this.”

Slowly, Claire turned her head and met Adelle’s eye. The younger woman took a shaky breath as she replied. “Do you have somewhere in mind?”

With a quick nod, Adelle pulled Claire closer and kissed her, lightly but reassuringly. “I know a place we could go.”
