*AN - This wasn't supposed to be so mushy, but damn the mushy muse. This is also the first thing I've written in this fandom in years. Hope the characterization wasn't too buggered.

The mirror had to be lying or broken or it wasn't wasn't actually the Mirror of Erised. Draco told himself that over and over again as he sat night after night in front of the mirror watching himself and Potter. Potter, the damned thing showed him Potter. He was going to die in front of this mirror trying to figure out what it was that he wanted from Potter, because Draco would be damned if he ever admitted it was the boy-who-lived.

"Damn it," he mumbled. It wouldn't be so puzzling but they never did anything. They sat there next to each other and did nothing. Sometimes Potter would give him that goofy smile and lean against him but nothing else.

Draco was beginning to spend an increasingly amount of time watching him during the day hours too. In the Great Hall talking to his mudblood and dirt poor friends, in Potions as he meticulously cut ingredients and read the texts giving to them by Snape. Draco had even started to sneak off to the Quidditch field and watch the Gryfindors practice.

It was becoming a problem and he vowed to never set foot in the room that the mirror was being kept; that worked for all of a week.

Draco found himself back in the room sitting in front of the mirror. Potter was there with him, sitting next to him, smiling. He thought of breaking it and just being done with the non-sense that this was. The more he thought about it the better the idea seemed so he drew his wand and prepared to fire a spell.

He found his wand lowered right before he could cast and his head snapped around to stare at the one who dared stop him.

"What are you doing here?" he spit at Potter and wrenched away from him.

Potter raised an eyebrow and looked into the mirror, "honestly?" Draco snorted 'honest' wasn't something he'd done all year, since this- this nightmare had begun. "Wondering what has been bringing you back to this room for months now."

He knew the face he was making was unbecoming of a Malfoy, jaw slacked and eyes bugged, but Potter knew he'd been coming to gaze at the mirror for months. "Do you get off on watching people Potter?" Draco hissed to deflect the attention those green eyes were baring down on him.

"No," Potter looked into the mirror before turning fully to him. "What do you see?"

He opened his mouth, a lie about seeing himself at the right hand of his father or some other bullshit, but he slowly closed it. Draco had been lying to himself for months now, "I see you," he said when he finally found the courage, "I see you with me."

There was that smile he'd seen a thousand times in the mirror and truly it did the real thing no justice. "Interesting," Harry murmured.

"What?" he was quickly on the defensive again. "What do you see, you and your friends being fawned over?" Couldn't the stupid boy just leave him alone to wallow in his embarrassment.

Harry turned to him, "I see you," he said and pulled Draco to him. Draco was taller and Harry had to reach up to touch his lips to the Slytherian's but with a hand wrapped around the back of Draco's neck he pulled him down and made it easier on both of them.

The mirror wasn't a lair or broken and if it really wasn't the Mirror of Erised it didn't matter. Draco had still gotten his hearts desire.
