Wednesday: Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics
Happy Wednesday, All. just_imriel here.
Todays theme: Lies, Damned lies and Statistics.
Little white ones and whoppers and everything in between.
Lies meant to hurt or meant to heal. Lies even the liar begins to believe...
Let's have our favorite (or least favorite) characters prevaricate, dissemble, decieve, misdirect, evade, distort, defame, mislead, perjure, pervert, concoct, distract, dupe, eqivocate, exaggerate, fabricate, misinform, fib, fudge...
As always, our usual rules apply:
Don’t forget to give us SPOILER ALERTS!!! and leave at least three spaces, where appropriate.
Please no more than 5 prompts in a row, and no more than 3 per fandom at a time. If someone responds to your prompt, you can prompt again.
Be kind to Codemonkeys, and write your prompts as fandom, pairing/pairing, prompt or fandom/fandom, pairing/pairing, prompt for crossovers. Like this:
Bones/NCIS, Boothe/DiNozzo, "We've never met."
RPS, JDM/Author's Choice, "I haven't missed you at all."
Last but not least, if none of this rings true, you can always look through our Lonely Prompts for inspiration. They won't steer you wrong. Honest.
Theme = LiarLiar
Every Robins prompt I fill turns into an angst-fest!
------
Jason never believed a word Bruce told him, he'd decided it was the best course of action after he'd caught Bruce lying one too many times. It didn't take him long to stop trusting Bruce, but he still trusted Batman. Because Batman didn't care about lies, Batman stood for truth and justice and for the rights of everyone. But Jason had stopped believing that long ago, dying would do that to someone. So when Dick put on the Batman suit, that sure as hell didn't mean Jason was going to start believing the lies that Dick told.
------
Tim had always trusted Bruce, he understood why sometimes Bruce found it necessary to lie and he realised with an welcome that he was comfortable doing the same. Everytime he took of the mask felt like a lie, and he knew that it was the same for Bruce. He'd understood Bruce's lies, he'd accepted Bruce's lies. But when Dick became Batman, Tim couldn't understand his lies. Why would he tell him everything was going to be okay when they both knew it wasn't? Tim couldn't stand to see Dick lie, because it didn't matter if you couldn't trust your parent, you should always be able to trust your big brother.
------
Steph saw straight through the lies that she was told. The Bat family had a knack for lying and it took her a while and a lot of attention but she'd learnt how to read their subtle changes in expression that showed uncertainty. It wasn't foolproof, because Batman was good at lying, and Tim was even better. But when she 'died' she'd realised exactly why Batman had taken such care in being a perfect liar, because seeing the look in Tim's eyes when he realised her own lies broke her heart.
