Friday: Book Titles

Hello, everyone! I’m [livejournal.com profile] reeby10 and unfortunately this is the end of my themes for the week. I hope you enjoyed them! Today's theme is book titles. Prompts can be a book title of any sort.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Harry Potter, Voldemort + any, How to Win Friends and Influence People
+ The Flash (tv), Cisco Ramon/Harry Wells, The Millionaire Next Door
+ any, any + any, My Best Friend's Exorcism

We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.

While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Any, Any/Any Modern Lovers

Magnus looked over at Alec. His lover was sitting on the couch. His long frame curled up on the end, closest to the balcony doors, letting the afternoon sun was over him. He smiled at the sight and the image of Alec as a cat sunning himself made him chuckle.

Alec looked up, quirking an eyebrow at him. Magnus grinned at him, but said nothing, just content to take in the sight before him. It had been some time since they had been able to relax. To just be themselves and be with each other. No Clave or Institute business calling Alec away. No summons from the Seelie Court or downworlder problems calling for Magnus' attention.

Magnus found that he liked his private time with Alec. Actually preferred it to going out. It wasn't like they couldn't be found. But, people tended to leave them undisturbed if they were locked away in Magnus' home. Their home really. It had become their sanctuary. Alec had all but moved in with him. The only thing keeping Alec from calling the apartment his home was his duty to the Institute. He ran it and had to make his presence known and seen. But, that didn't stop him from slipping out unseen to be here at night.

It just made it difficult for Magnus when he woke in the morning to find Alec's side of the bed cold and him gone. But, he wouldn't push. Alec had his own key and knew Magnus would be waiting for his return, no matter the time. They both knew the situation wasn't ideal and Alec wasn't any happier about it, but it just made their time together all the sweeter.

Magnus looked over at Alec. He was deeply engrossed in a book. He clutched at the pages. Blue eyes roving over the print. It looked like he was searching through the book for something. Alec would read, then flip the page, read again and flip back a few pages. It made Magnus curious as to what Alec was reading and what he seemed to be searching for.

Magnus fought the urge to get up and walk over to Alec. To reach down and pry the book from his fingers. To examine the book which held Alec's attention. What was so interesting? Magnus had to know. He needed to know. It felt like a secret that Alec was dangling in front of him. 'You can watch me read, but you're not allowed to know what I'm reading.' He felt his fingers itch to take the book in his hands.

Finally, Magnus gave in. The desire was too strong. Getting up, he walked over to Alec and stood in front of him. Blocking the light so Alec had to look up at him. As he looked up, Magnus noticed Alec's eyes widen and his cheeks begin to turn pink like he'd been caught doing something he wasn't supposed to.

"What are you reading?" Magnus meant for the worse to come out as casual. He didn't manage that. It sounded like he was on edge. Alec marked his page and handed the book to Magnus and then looked away. Magnus read the title and smiled.

'Modern Lovers.'

"Is it any good?" Magnus asked, now intrigued.

"Ye-yeah." Alec stammered. "It's very interesting. I'm learning some new techniques." Alec said and then wiggled his eyebrows as a playful grin appeared on his face.

Magnus handed him the book, returning Alec's grin with his own. "Well then, read on. And when you're done, I might just have to borrow this." Magnus said as he pointed to the book before stealing a quick kiss.

As much as I adore this fic, the best part was Magnus comparing Alec to a cat sunning! Because I am a book worm and I spend a lot of my time in the sunroom sunning while reading and my boyfriend has made that same comment to me and it just made me giggle so hard! Made an already amazing fic extra special! Thank you so very much!!!...and yes, I was in the sunroom reading and it made be burst out laughing!!
