FILL: The Killing, Holder/Linden
Behind his beautiful eyes shimmered joy and love, and she found it endearing that his gaze seemed to shine like an endless starry sky. The world around her seemed to stand still as she looked into his eyes, her heart fluttering when he smiled sweetly at her.
His hands pull her in closer to his warm body as the snow tumbles down around them, already she is leaning in as he moves to press a kiss to her lips. His arms cradle her tenderly in his embrace and he is so warmhearted that the icy cold melts from her body as she kisses him tenderly.
Never did she think she would find ‘happily ever after,’ yet she did. She found love in Holder, and with each passing day her love only grows stronger.

XXX
Zia ordered pie even though she didn’t want it, hoping more to appease the uneasy waitress who hesitated on coming to their table. She didn’t exactly blame the young woman who looked to be several months pregnant. Her companion was the source of her unease whereas she probably should have been worried more about Zia whose magic could be deadly.
She didn’t blame the waitress as her companion was a homeless addict. His long coat had a fragrance that could put anyone off but the diner was mostly empty on this frigid winter night. Faolan cupped the coffee she’d ordered for both of them and tucked into his slice of cherry pie with the abandoned of someone who hadn’t had a meal in too long. He had no reason to trust her but hunger overrode caution.
“Why did you bring me here?” he asked finally, sucking down coffee as if she were about to take it from him. Was he jonesing she wondered? She had no way of knowing when the last time he’d shot up heroin.
“You witnessed something last night,” she said, studying his face.
His blue eyes flicked away and he drank deeply again. She refilled his mug, looking at him with something beyond pure sight. Magically, he light up like an aurora. He had fae blood and probably had no idea of it. If he hadn’t been in the park, probably working, looking for johns since he’d made it perfectly clear to her what he was. “I saw nothing.”
“I’m not a social worker or a cop, Faolan. I’m not going to haul you off to a mental hospital.”
A sarcastic grin spread across his face. “You want me to say what? I saw a monster in the park?”
“You did.”
“Maybe you’re the one who’s crazy.”
She returned the snarky smile. “You haven’t begun to see crazy. Once you’re warmed up a little, and talk to me about what you saw, I’ll prove to you none of this is crazy.”
He scooped up a piece of pie. “I accept that challenge because I think you’re crazier than me and I want see you prove me wrong.”
Zia sat back on the cracked vinyl bench and drank coffee of her own because it was edging on three in the morning and she could tell Faolan was ready to spill. It was going to be one hell of a night.

That is certainly one way to get a hot drink on a cold night, and it sounds like Faolan is in for a great many surprises...
