TV Tropes Friday
Nov. 20th, 2020 06:35 pmTHank SOMEONE it is Friday my darlings! I remain
classics_lover your host this week and next. Friday's theme is a recurring favourite of mine: TV Tropes! Pick a fandom, pick a trope and prompt away. (Also, I'm not in the fandom, but I know some of you are Supernatural fans and I am so sorry for your series finale. I hope you are ok *hugs*)
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
♥ Lucifer (TV), Lucifer Morningstar + Dan Espinosa, Alleged Lookalikes
♥ Star Trek (any tv), any ensemble, More Friends, More Benefits
♥ Any (please no SPN), author's choice, Fuck the Bury Your Gays trope
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2020 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2020-11-20 08:36 pm (UTC)I know what a disappointing finale feels like and that one, from the recaps I read was just a massive kick in the teeth of every fan who stuck with it for 15 years. *snuggles*

Date: 2020-11-20 08:37 pm (UTC)Fuck the writers they wouldn't know what to do with decent character growth if it smacked them in the face. I've had some really bad finales in my time but that one sounded So Damn Bad.

Date: 2020-11-21 04:36 am (UTC)“I’m calling 9-1-1,” Sam says, and when Dean protests, he ignores him. He’s not even sure what he says to the operator, vague words of description and desperation rolling off his tongue, and when she confirms paramedics are on the way, he thumbs the phone off and shoves it back in his pocket.
“Idiot,” Dean rasps. “What’re they gonna think when they walk in on this scene?”
“Doesn’t matter. We’ve broken out of jail before.” Sam tries to smile. “I’m not letting you… We’re both getting out of here. Don’t be a jerk.”
“Don’t be a bitch.”
Dean coughs and Sam sees blood on his lips, tries not a panic. He steps in, needing to be closer. “Hey,” he says softly. Green eyes clouded with pain meet his. As gently as he can, Sam touches Dean’s face. “You’re going to get through this. I promise.”
“Gonna kick your ass if you’re lying to me,” Dean says, clearly needing immense effort to get out every word. He leans into Sam’s fingers.
“I’ll let you. Quiet now. Just stay calm.”
Dean grunts, face spasming in pain. “Hurts,” he whispers.
“I know.” Sam leans in, tenderly touching his forehead to Dean’s. “It won’t for long. The ambulance will be here soon. We’ll get you taken care of. Everything else can come later.”
“Sammy-”
“Shh. No big speeches. You’ve made it through worse than this.”
Dean grunts again and leans a little harder against Sam. He can hear his brother concentrating on breathing evenly, trying to regulate the pain.
“That’s it. Take it easy.”
“I love you,” Dean murmurs.
Sam kisses his cheek. “I love you too. But what was that about you being quiet?”
Sirens sound in the distance, making them both flinch. Sam wishes he had someone to pray to in thanks.

Date: 2020-11-22 07:57 am (UTC)Line of Duty, Ted Hastings/Steve Arnott, Can’t Tie His Tie
Date: 2022-12-28 09:35 pm (UTC)Steve was watching his former Gaffer-turned-lover trying to tie his tie out of the corner of his eye, his fingers twitching, wanting to reach out and take over but unsure how his actions would be met, especially given the frustrated noises already coming from Ted.
But enough was enough. They would be late if they didn’t get going.
“Get too used to the uniform clip-on tie?” Steve teased, reaching out to take the tie from Ted’s hands, and then looping it back round Ted’s neck and expertly doing up the knot, adjusting it just so and then tugging on it to pull Ted’s face down to his, kissing him gently. An apology for the uniform comment. He knew Ted was at a loss without his job and not taking too well to his forced retirement. Especially with Steve, who was now answering to Patricia Carmichael as his boss.
“I’m sorry, didn’t mean…” Steve said, deciding the kiss was not enough of an apology. In his eyes, it never would be.
The powers that be had left a sour taste in his mouth with their decision regarding Ted. If he didn’t feel a responsibility to Ted to stay, to carry on the mission of AC-12, Ted’s legacy, he would have turned in his warrant card the minute the final decision had come down on Ted’s retirement. There were still days he felt like throwing in the towel. Like when that smarmy twat-waffle had assigned him to semi-permanent desk duty. But he held on, for Ted’s sake; in hopes that his private investigation would turn something up on Carmichael that could be used to set things right.
Ted leaned back down, his lips ghosting over Steve’s, whispering a quick “Quiet, you,” before returning the kiss with more than a hint of tongue before withdrawing with a sharp tug of Steve’s lower lip. He’d like nothing more than to pull the end of the bow tie Steve had on and then move to undo the fancy buttons on his waistcoat and shirt…but Steve was right. They were going to be late.
However, when they got home, he had plans for his tie and Steve’s bow tie-tie. Plans to show Steve how capable he was when it came to tying other knots…
