She's lounging in her cell, proofreading her latest submission for the local archeology quarterly on the nearest planet when her papers begin to rustle in the sudden whipping wind. She's grinning widely as the familiar haunting echo of the Tardis fills the glass chamber. She's waited five years four months and thirteen days for this day. The ship doors slam open and the Doctor stomps out, all black boots and bow ties and a fierce scowl on the wide expressive mouth of his eleventh face. "Of all the rubbish horseshit reasons to rot in Prison for two consecutive life sentences...you're in here for my bloody *murder*?! And you didn't even murder me really, I still had one regeneration left!" "Ahhh, I see you've been to Christmas 2217. I never was sure if you'd spring me before or after. How's Jack?" His eyes flash and it's one quick movement that has him looming over the cot, flat of his palm slapping the glass hard enough to make a loud cracking sound just inches from her head. The smile slips off her face as she takes in the fact that his face is damp from being washed and blood is still sticky in his hair and under his nails. There's still a curious stench of adrenaline, sharp hints of ozone from laser fire and the thick scorched whiff of cordite clinging to his clothes. "Oh Time fucking wept, you came right from there to here? You bloody idiot..." His hand clenches in her hair, just barely on the wrong side of too tight she doesn't think he even notices, as he presses his forehead against hers. His hand shakes as it cups her cheek. "You, River Song, were utterly *magnificent* and I will be *damned* if you spend one more second in this cell over me." She presses her lips to his, swallowing the desperate little sound he makes as he kisses her. "Come on then. You *did* say you'd make it up to me." She can feel his smile against her own. "Ready to see how far we can run River Song?" "Oh yes, I've been ready for years."
