The con's teetering on the edge of, you know, blowing up in their faces and bringing substantial jail-sentences for all of them with the oncoming train-wreck. Their mark’s coming up in the lift and there’s no other way out and if they’re caught with the box of files then it’s all over and they’ll have to run to get away from this before the police are called.
“Tell me you have a plan,” Danny hisses, practically bouncing with anxiety. “You always have a plan.”
“Thought you’d made yourself leader,” Ash snaps.
“Yeah, but you’re the fixer, ain’tcha? Just…” Danny flails a little, “fix this, before we’re all doomed to an eternity behind bars. I can’t spend an eternity behind bars – I’m too pretty!”
“Too mouthy, more like,” Ash mutters, but he spots the tiny stationary room – barely bigger than a cupboard but there should be…ah, yes. Just enough room for the both of them, as long as neither of them are claustrophobic or mind the complete lack of personal space. He manhandles Danny in and pulls the door almost closed behind them, dumping the files on a shelf. If this is going to work… “Kiss me,” he says.
“What?”
Danny, Ash thinks, can really be a fucking idiot sometimes.
The lift pings and he presses Danny back against the shelves, moves in as close as he can get and presses his mouth to Danny’s. There’s the expected moment of resistance but Danny starts returning the kiss just as the door opens.
“Oh…” someone says, and Ash breaks the kiss to look over at their mark who’s looking a little gob-smacked and a whole lot turned on. Danny, Ash is pleased to notice, is far too dazed to notice that anyone’s interrupted them. “Never mind me, boys. You just…carry on.”
Ash smirks at the man and winks and – as the door closes – turns his attention back to destroying any working brain cells that Danny has left.
