"So this is it, huh?" Dean was leaning against the Impala, glancing at Cas. "This is what you wanted me up at the butt-crack of dawn for?"
"It is my last sunrise before my return to Heaven, Dean," Castiel replied, not taking his eyes off the soft hues spreading over the horizon.
"But..I mean, seriously, Cas. Heaven. Considering God created everything, you'd think you'd be granted a sunrise or infinity. Front row seats."
"This is true," Castiel agreed. "But the view from Earth is..different. Fresh. Beautiful."
"So," Dean stifled a yawn, tucking his jacket tighter around his body to ward off the morning chill. "Why'm I here?"
"Because i wanted to spend these last moments with you, Dean," Castiel replied, in a matter of fact tone.
"Uh, right," Dean shifted, because that sort of thing, even coming from Cas, sounded...intimate. "Last night on earth. Guess it's a step up from not wanting to die a virgin, huh?"
Had he looked at the sunrise a second sooner, he would have missed Castiel's brief, bittersweet smile.
He had to admit...they were both pretty nice to watch.
