Hello, everyone. I’m canonisrelative and today's theme is genderswap. Prompts can be anything so long as they show a character interacting with their gender in a way that differs from canon.
So gender is totally a construct, right? That’s why it’s so fun to play with. Whether it’s taking a look at how the story would be strikingly different or shockingly the same, subverting stereotypes or letting a character’s suppressed traits or tendency shine through…it’s fascinating. Have fun!
Just a few rules: No more than five prompts in a row. No more than three prompts in the same fandom. Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet. No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here. If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name] Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Steve Rogers, Stevie Rogers was actually born Stephanie Rogers and spent her/his childhood playing with the boys and taking on bullies twice her/his size. When the war came, s/he was desperate to enlist like her/his best friend Bucky... Author’s choice: Tomboy (she) or trans (he) Stevie, gen or paired with Bucky.
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Loki (+Thor), Loki always wanted to be a Valkyrie. As a child playing at make-believe battles with Thor, Loki used to pretend to be a Valkyrie, and that’s how Loki learned to shift between genders.
+ X-Files, Mulder +/ Scully, girl!Mulder and boy!Scully
+ Little Women, Jo March +/ Theodore Lawrence, Sometimes when it’s just the two of them, he lets her dress him up in her clothes and brush his hair and call him Dora.
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2021 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

+ Star Trek (any), Any (+/any), show me a Trekian vision of the future where one can abstain from gender or revel in its multitudinous manifestations and no one’s bothered. (I kind of imagine a lot of Jacob Tobias running around and it's glorious 🤩)
