"Try again, I used to say that all the time too." Peter rolled up his sleeve and made a fist.
Mohinder smiled blandly at him. "And I'm sure that every time, it was of great comfort." His eyes, wry and sparkling, searched Peter's, drawing a smile briefly tempered by a wince as the needle pierced Peter's skin.
"By the time you're 90 I guess you know better," Peter said. "You're right, none of them believed me, either."
"It seems to me you've had more than your share of that." Mohinder held his thumb down on Peter's arm, watching carefully as the blood siphoned up into the vial.
Peter cocked his head. "What do you mean?"
Mohinder met his gaze again. "Of people not believing you."
He pulled out the needle. Peter hissed with the sudden sting. "Guess that's one reason I hang out and let you do weird experiments on my blood," he said, forcing a smile. Blood welled up in an expanding dot on his arm and began to run.
Mohinder caught the stream, mopped it up with a piece of gauze, and pressed on the cut until the bleeding began to ebb. "Because I state the obvious?"
Peter reached out with his free hand and touched the fingers curled around his arm. "Because you're the one guy who always did believe."
