Late Friday Free For All and an Early bonus Saturday Free for all

I am terribly sorry everyone. Between getting ready to leave on Monday for my first trip to England, and this horrific cold and the meds for said cold, plus running two challenge comms that have major milestones this week, I completely forgot it was my weekend to host.

So, because I've only just now realized it, we're going to make Saturday a free for all too, just to make it up to y'all. This post will serve for both Friday and Saturday.

Come on in and pull up a comment or three. Any fandom, any prompt (mindful that there are no spoilers in the prompt itself), any pairing, any anything!

Remember the rules (no more than 5 posts in a row, 3 per fandom, no spoilers in the prompt, if there are spoilers in the fic, please warn and leave space for people to skip over it) and format your prompts properly (and mind the length of the prompts).

For example:

Leverage, Eliot/author's choice, his was a lonely road, and comfort came at a cost
Hawaii 5-0, Danny/Steve, prick me again and watch me bleed
Criminal Minds/White Collar, Spencer Reid/Neal Caffrey, Derek Morgan, jealousy

Have fun!

Filled

Sammy watches from the doorway everyday for two years.

Dean, who's older and knows what regret looks like and saw it the day dad left, sits quietly beside him and doesn't try to destroy his hope. He knows it's only a matter of time before Sammy understands that dad is never coming back.

Sammy has just turned five when he gives up.

Twenty years later Bobby gets a phone call.

"Dad, it's Jess. She's..."

A new voice comes on the phone.

"Bobby, something killed Jess. I think... I think it might be the same thing that got mom."

Bobby's shoulders slump.

"You boys get home now, I don't want you idjits going off half-cocked. I'll take care of everything." Bobby hangs up once the boys say their goodbyes.

He makes some phone calls, puts out some feelers.

He'll have some sort of plan worked out by the time the boys get here.

He hopes.

*whimper* So, so sad! I can totally see this happening. Sammy would be the one constantly waiting for John to come back. I bet there's still a part of him waiting for John to show up again, even if he has given up on it. And Bobby would call them home so they wouldn't do anything dumb. He made such a great extra dad to those two. And if he'd had time to get to know Adam, I think he'd've practically adopted that kid, too. :-)

Poor Sam, even in this 'verse he can't escape the YED.

You did a wonderful job of building this 'verse in such a few words. It makes me wonder how the boy's lives would have been different if John HAD left them with Bobby, even if it was only during the school year.

When Sammy goes over to his friends' houses, he's always surprised at how clean they are. All the books are on the shelves, all the bottles hidden away. There are never any guns or knives or vials of holy water. The silver is only for eating. When he asks why they aren't worried about monsters coming to eat them they say, "Monsters aren't real, silly."

"Don't tell anyone about the monsters, Sammy," Uncle Bobby says that night. (Sammy was back before dark, like always.) "They don't know what's out there."

Dean ducks in the door and tries not to look guilty. "You're supposed to be back before dark," Sammy says.

"I can take care of myself."

"You can take care of your homework," Uncle Bobby tells him. "You can be the biggest idjit hunter the world's ever seen when you're older, but you ain't failin' middle school on my watch."

"Aw, Uncle Bobby. Can't I go out back and work on the Bronco instead?"

"You've taken that truck apart a hundred times and put it back together two. You ever meet a manticore you're gonna wish you spent more time on Greek history. Now shove."

When Sam says he wants to go to college, no one's surprised. Bobby says, "Long as I ain't payin' for it." Dean just scowls and goes back to cleaning his gun. Sam promises to keep in touch, and does.
