"Brothers are stupid," River says as she slips up beside him on the catwalk. She curls against him as she sits, legs dangling over the sides and swinging, sending her skirt aflutter.
Sam says nothing as he watches the tiff going on below. Dean is yelling about Simon's "freak of a sister" and Simon's shooting right back about how there ain't nothing on the level with the family Winchester. (He's only spouting what you can find on the Cortex though, which makes sense, since the Tams aren't exactly the sort of family that'd ever have cause to hire a Hunter. Dean still takes it personal though.) Course Jayne chooses that moment to bring up the Winchester curse, and how every girl a Winchester ever claims to love ends up dying horrific and brutal deaths.
Simon's eyes flick up at him, at them, just as River slips her arm through Sam's. The only reason Simon doesn't walk away with a black eye or a broken arm is because Jayne chooses that moment to start insulting Dean's daddy.
