Nate's always been a control freak, it's true, and that carries over to the bedroom. He ties her up with whatever is on hand: neckties, Christmas lights, anything really. He's blindfolded her with her own scarf, tied her to her porch swing... He's relentless and she loves it. Nate can lay over her, not touching her, for hours, or at least it feels like hours. He just likes to see her helpless and needy and when he asks for his name, she can't help herself. Sophie has always been in control of every relationship she has ever been in so it feels fabulous to let someone take over, someone that can render her speechless and wanting.
But there are brief moments when Nate is entirely out of control. When he watches her from across a crowded ballroom or veranda and his eyes travel from her ankle up the swell of her leg, she adjusts the slit in her dress so he has a better view. He gasps and she smiles, knowing she has the upper hand. When she's getting dressed before a job and she's walking around in her slip and her nylons, he always has time to sit and stare. And then she slowly puts her red lipstick on and makes him help her with the buttons up the back of her dress and he's as helpless as she's ever been.
It takes a lot to make Sophie need him. It only takes a look to make Nate need her. So sometimes when her wrists are lashed together on the headboard or she can feel the knot in her scarf digging into the back of her head but can't see anything, she can't help whispering, "So who's in charge now?"
