"But... you pulled this out of your trunk. You're not a guy," James protested, holding the cotton dress up between pinched fingers. "Why do you have something that male Muggles usually wear?"
"Because I enjoy the way it swishes," Lily replied solidly. "Just put it on and then we'll head down for dinner." James cast her a cautious glance, but when her face gave away nothing of what she was thinking, he shrugged.
"I'll be right to meet you. Just give me a second." He darted from the Common Room and up to the boy's dorm. He burst through the door and recoiled just as quickly. "GAH!" he yelled, covering his eyes with his arm. "Sirius!" he bellowed.
Sirius barked a laugh and leapt up to draw the curtains around he and Remus. A brief tussle happened behind the curtains, and Remus' head poked out.
"James, why are you carrying one of Lily's sundresses?" he asked. James glanced from the dress in his hand to his best bloke friend.
"Because Muggle men wear this sort of thing all the time?" James asked, an eyebrow cocked. Remus bit his lower lip in an effort to not giggle.
"You're going to dinner with Lily, aren't you?" he asked. James nodded warily. "Enjoy!" Remus ducked his head back in the curtains, and more gasping and groaning commenced. James gagged and rolled his eyes. He loved his friends, he really did, but any PDA when it wasn't him and Lily was completely unwarranted.
He tried to block out the sounds of Remus panting as he slipped the sundress over his head and buttoned up the back. "Silencing spell!" he yelled as he opened the door to meet Lily. "Learn it!"
