Wednesday - Danger Zone
Nov. 11th, 2015 05:04 amHey, guys! :) I’m
dreamsofspike and today's theme is danger/peril situations. Prompts can be anything in which your characters are placed in dangerous circumstances. Maybe there's a natural disaster, or a vehicle accident, or the bad guy gets the upper hand. Just put them at risk somehow - and watch what they're made of come out in the process. :P
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
If your prompt or fill contains anything that can be a trigger for the reader, please add a warning for that to give the reader the chance to decide if they want to read or not.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing. Use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Supernatural, Sam Winchester/Castiel - Cas is in a car accident while human or otherwise weakened
+ The Voice RPF, Blake Shelton/Adam Levine - hostage situation
+ Grimm, Nick Burkhardt/Monroe - Monroe is hurt trying to protect Nick
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2015 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2015-11-12 03:55 am (UTC)Eliot's never met a man like Nate. It's not that he's afraid Nate will beat him up. No, he's afraid Nate can take him out. Eliot, after all, has seen firsthand multiple times that the most terrifying part of Nathan Ford is his brain. He is a mastermind extraordinaire. Evil falls like Parker from a building under one of his plans. But unlike Parker, they crash to the ground with nothing to cushion the blow.
And it's the way he does it: quietly, surgically, completely. You never see it coming. He will fuck you up - even those who think they have no further to fall.
So while Eliot's not sure what he did to earn Nate's respect, there is no way he's going to lose it. Not because he's afraid, but because Nate really has earned respect in return.

Date: 2015-11-12 01:28 pm (UTC)"Right," Hal says, squirming against him. The ground is gritty underneath his bare feet and cold; like dirt, but not quite. "Because this is hilarious."
"Even still," Sinestro says, his laughter calming to a light chuckle. "You are not afraid. I cannot decide if this makes you truly admirable or truly stupid."
Hal sighs, tired of fighting against the bonds for the moment and leans his head back against Sinestro's, closes his eyes.
"It's what I love about you, you know," Sinestro continues. "Before you, I had never met a man so devoid of fear that I couldn't smell it on him. You -- you smell like arrogance and foolishness with just a hint of a hero complex. But never fear. It's intoxicating."
"What," Hal stumbles out. "What in the hell are you saying to me right now?"
"Please, Jordan," Sinestro says. He sounds so tired and Hal hates it, hates all of this. "We could die at any moment. Do not condescend me by acting as if you don't know."
"You love me," Hal says, rolling the words around in his head, and this time it's his turn to erupt into laughter -- though he thinks he might actually be hysterical. His head feels about three times heavier than it should and his hands are feet are so cold he can barely feel them anymore and nothing is really funny at all, but he can't stop laughing.
Sinestro thinks he's not afraid and jesus christ, if that isn't the funniest fucking thing ever. The only way he's even managed to make it this long is by not thinking about anything, by running his mouth and bickering with Sinestro and humming fucking showtunes. The second he lets the reality of the situation sink in, well -- apparently this is what happens.
"Jordan," he vaguely hears Sinestro saying. "Jordan, get a hold of yourself."
Hal's ribs feel like they're splintering in his chest every time he sucks in air and he can feel his body shaking with tremors and he's still laughing, pausing only to sob through the sharp bursts of pain. He's suddenly aware of every ache, every cut and bruise on his body, on the emptiness in his belly and how fucking hungry he is, like some kind of switch in his head was flipped and he can no longer ignore it.
"Hal," Sinestro says and pushes his back against him, wiggles his fingers around enough to stroke the inside of Hal's wrist. "Listen to me. Listen to my voice. I will get you out of here."
Hal takes a couple of deep breaths, focuses on the sound of Sinestro's voice and the heat of his skin instead of the pain and neverending darkness, relaxes against Sinestro's back again. "How?"
"I don't know yet," Sinestro says confidently and it fills Hal's chest with something warm and powerful. "But it is you and I. What can't we accomplish together?"
Hal's starting to smile when the door to their cell is lifted again and bright white light pours into the room, blinding Hal so that he can't even see who is approaching.
"Sinestro," he says, squinting. "I --"
"I know, Jordan," Sinestro says against him, taking a deep breath as the foot steps grow nearer. "I know."

"It's what I love about you, you know," Sinestro continues. "Before you, I had never met a man so devoid of fear that I couldn't smell it on him. You -- you smell like arrogance and foolishness with just a hint of a hero complex. But never fear. It's intoxicating."
OH, GOD, SINESTRO. I can totally imagine him saying it like that. Very casual, but very deliberate all at once. :D
Ahhhhhh I love them both SO MUCH. Boysssss. BOYS. <33333
The only way he's even managed to make it this long is by not thinking about anything, by running his mouth and bickering with Sinestro and humming fucking showtunes.
HAL. <3333 And now I am really into the idea of him as a secret musical theatre nerd, yes.
"I don't know yet," Sinestro says confidently and it fills Hal's chest with something warm and powerful. "But it is you and I. What can't we accomplish together?"
SO MUCH LOVE. <33333
So, yes, thank you so much for this! I really, really loved it. <3333
Fill: Black and Blue [Grayson, Tiger/Dick, PG-13]
Date: 2015-11-12 04:46 pm (UTC)“Hm,” Tiger says, and graces him with what probably counts as a smirk in Tiger language, “are you alright?”
“I’m bruised,” he complains, scratches where his jeans come up over his hips - over the imprints of Tiger’s palms - and tries not to look too pathetic while doing so, “while I don’t mind being fucked up against a table...”
“By me,” Tiger provides, his eyes going dark and so possessive that the breath briefly catches in his lungs, “for the very first time.”
“...Yes,” he agrees shakily, tries his very hardest to remember how to get air into his lungs and how to form actual words besides, “I do mind the bruises it leaves. I mean, damn, I haven’t been this banged up since I was still a superhero.”
“Hm,” Tiger says, unimpressed, and rolls his eyes. But the smirk, or what counts for one with Tiger, remains, “I hardly think that prancing around in costume is as strenuous as being a spy. Can I see them?”
“You-“ he starts hotly. And then pauses at the sudden change, frowns, huffs, lifts up his T-shirt and gives possibly the most passive aggressive shrug that he’s given in his life, “fine, be my guest.”
Tiger keeps smirking, steps closer and bends down to peruse his litany of bruises. He shudders, at the sudden gust of warm breath, but remains firm. Grumpily stares into space as Tiger takes in the purpling hollow where his back met the table, the dark pattern of wood arcing over his side, the imprint of fingers just over his-
He gasps, and jerks away as Tiger presses his thumb just over the imprint of fingers. Lets his shirt drop, as he summons up a glare, “hey!”
“I must admit to a touch of pride,” Tiger only continues to smirk at him, eyes dark and so hot that he barely holds back a shudder at them, “apparently I am more dangerous than both of your noble professions.”
And he wants to continue to be angry, he really does, but... Well, as Tiger smirks up at him he can only remember that he always has had a type.

Date: 2015-11-14 10:19 pm (UTC)He remembers, one time, keeping watch like this, up in, back up against a tree and rifle in his arms, Steve stretched out, knocked out, swaddled like a grumpy infant in the thinnest blankets the Howlies have some twenty, thirty feet below and behind in the circle by the rocks.
Then, he sat on the branch in the tree until his legs went numb and hours after, the Howlies’ heaviest blanket draped around his shoulders, rifle steady in fingers that didn’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t tremble. Then as now in the night squirrels rabbit through underbrush and rabbits squirrel themselves underground and owls sit like him on trees and hoot and, suddenly, start and explode off their branches in a cacophony of crackling leaves and feathers forcing lumps of flesh and bone to rocket through the empty air.
Then and now, Bucky sits watch and sits, watching, patience itself, waiting for the tell-tale rustle of grass and leaves and twigs that don’t snap where they should, waiting for arrogance and cockiness to overcome training and care, for the dark shape that’s followed them for the better part of a day to convince itself that everything is safe and scurry out into the clearing between Bucky and the camp where Steve Rogers lies asleep.
Now, Bucky’s leg’s don’t grow numb, and he doesn’t need the blanket his friend lays around his shoulders with a worried grin before he climbs the tree with the rifle slung over his back, and the shadow that sweats and swears and steps into the sight of Bucky’s scope speaks and cries and curses in the same language the other boys he used to cover, then, did.
But the end result is much the same.
(He aims and smiles and lets his hands give his hello.)
