Jeudi: Sayings
Jan. 12th, 2017 12:10 amHi there! I’m
dreammaidenn and this week is almost over, so today's theme is Sayings. Prompts can be any sayings, adages, proverbs, aphorisms or popular phrases you like the most. If you're looking for inspiration. Have fun!😄
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ The Boondock Saints, Connor MacManus + Murphy MacManus, Blood is thicker than water.
+ MCU, Maria Hill/Natasha Romanoff, letting their hair down
+ Merlin, Arthur Pendragon/Merlin, Good things come to those who wait
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

"But cable needles?"
"Why shouldn't a scarf or a sweater or a hat be decorative as well as functional?"
That was the artist in Evan speaking, Radek supposed.
Evan kept poking through 'misc. tools #16'. "How do you even know what cable needles are?"
"My mother knitted. How do you know what they are?"
"Colonel Mitchell knits," Evan said.
Radek thought of those black knitted fingerless gloves Evan wore, with the little cables on the back, and he thought of how Evan was polite and friendly with and completely unmoved by any number of beautiful and blatantly flirtatious alien women they met, and nodded.
He closed box #27 and opened #28.
"Cricut dies? Really?"
"Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it," Evan said serenely.
Radek really, really wished he hadn't opened #29. It was full of fuzzy handcuffs, silk rope, and other things he didn't want to look closely at. The way Evan smiled fondly at the box told Radek that maybe he should go back to the lab and wait for Evan to bring him the miniature lathe he needed for his latest engineering project and that he should have followed Miko's advice in the first place and never, ever agreed to help Evan look for special tools.

Love this, thank you!

Finally, a week after Keller had declared John properly recovered, Rodney went to confront him, because he was acting all weird and couldn't help it any longer, but John showed up at his door with a couple of beers and the Iron Man DVD that had been making its rounds on the base.
"How about it? High-flying action and dubious science? Perfect movie for both of us."
"Sure," Rodney said, deflating, and let John into his quarters.
It started off innocuously enough, talking about science, and the Middle East, and the conflict there, making comments about money and weapons and the American industrial-military complex, but then Rodney noticed. The way John nudged him before making a comment. The way John didn't move away after a nudge. The way John was sliding closer and closer. The way he became loose-limbed and pliant the further he got into his bottle of beer.
Rodney opened his mouth to call John on it, and John kissed him.
Kissing progressed rapidly to touching to shedding clothes to both of them scrambling onto Rodney's narrow bed and then John paused them mid-kiss, caught Rodney's hand, and placed Rodney's hand on his left hip.
"There," he said. "My tattoo."
Rodney drew his hand back and saw - a splash of color. Like the clearest blue sky, dotted with clouds. It looked like watercolor, the colors were so airy and delicate. Woven into the colors were lines, black and solid and -
"The golden ratio. Really?"
"As you once pointed out, I did get my masters in math," John said.
"It's beautiful."
John smiled at him. "I always keep my promises."
"Took you long enough."
"Wanted to make sure I was healed up enough."
"For what?"
"Curiosity satisfied?" John asked.
Rodney nodded.
"For this." John rolled his hips, and suddenly he was on top.
For a second Rodney was going to protest, and then he realized. John was going to bottom from the top.
What followed was mind-blowing, and Rodney came so hard he blacked out for a second. John kissed him awake, then curled beside him, smiling at him, and this was a smile no one else ever saw, small and soft and fond. Rodney curled a hand over the ink at John’s hip, tracing the lines of the golden spiral.
“So,” John said, “want to see Lorne’s tattoo?”
As it turned out, if Rodney wanted to see Lorne’s tattoo, all he had to do was ask.
