Monday: Poetry
Jan. 23rd, 2017 06:10 pmHi there! I'm your host for the week,
beckonade, and today's theme is poetry. All prompts should be either poems or quotes from poems. If the poem you'd like to use as a prompt is long enough to be unwieldy, feel free to simply provide a link to it.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ The Magicians, Margo/Alice, spangled is the earth with her crowns (Sappho)
+ Into the Badlands, Sunny/Quinn, this hour it is not / your body I want / but your quiet company (Michale Ondaatje)
+ The Librarians, Cassandra/Estrella, Wild nights - Wild nights! / Were I with thee / Wild nights should be / Our luxury! (Emily Dickinson)
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

so that all who see him

thick chest as I did
moving my mouth
over his back bringing
our hearts to heights
I never hike over

“We will touch each other.”
Whispered hers.
“You are my air.”
Gasped my lungs.
“And you mine.”
Gasped hers.

The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

Date: 2017-01-23 03:19 pm (UTC)I love you like this because I don’t know any other way to love,
except in this form in which I am not nor are you,
so close that your hand upon my chest is mine,
so close that your eyes close with my dreams.

Date: 2017-01-23 03:28 pm (UTC)My love is as a fever, longing still
For that which longer nurseth the disease,
Feeding on that which doth preserve the ill,
Th’ uncertain sickly appetite to please.
My reason, the physician to my love,
Angry that his prescriptions are not kept,
Hath left me, and I desperate now approve
Desire is death, which physic did except.
Past cure I am, now reason is past care,
And frantic-mad with evermore unrest;
My thoughts and my discourse as madmen’s are,
At random from the truth vainly expressed:
For I have sworn thee fair, and thought thee bright,
Who art as black as hell, as dark as night.
