Aoine <===> (And I Would Walk) 500 Miles
Feb. 3rd, 2017 03:29 pmMerry Friday, my doves, I am
classics_lover and today is my last day as guest host. Today's theme is 500 Words (or less). Prompta can be anything you like, but fills must be limited to 500 words or less. You're welcome for getting that song stuck in your head, btw ;)
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Dragon Age, anypair, time to cuddle
+ Star Trek TNG, author's choice, holodeck shenanigans
+ Tortall, Kel + Lord Wyldon, getting to know each other after the events of Lady Knight
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

The autobiography of the football player he's idolised since he was a kid.
Two tickets to his team's final home match of the season. "Don't worry," she says, her lips twitching, "I won't be offended if you don't want to take me."
A shirt that's a close enough copy of his favourite one, the one that she ripped beyond repair a couple of weeks ago. "I promise to be more gentle with this one," she says, her cheeks flushing pink with embarrassed memory and he thinks he wouldn't mind if she wasn't.
As if that wasn't enough, she's got his favourite dinner cooking in the oven and afterwards, she produces a cake, lights the single candle in it (he jokes the accurate number would burn her flat down, she narrows her eyes and he shuts up) and smiles at him.
"Make a wish," she tells him and he tells her the truth, that he's got nothing to wish for.
Not when she's making all his dreams come true.

But this, looking at his doppelganger, this other him that is so close and yet so far, a distorted and fragmented image...
"We could be gods," Reverb tells Vibe, and Cisco knows when he's telling the truth.
For just a moment, no more than a single heartbeat, Cisco wants it. Reverb is all the worst parts of him, staring him in the face, and Cisco wants that certainty, that confidence. That power.
And then he wills the want away, because Reverb is what he could've been not what he is.

Fill: Dragon Age:Origins, f!Amell/Alfstanna - "Her Calming Presence"

Solona was roused from sleep by a strong arm squeezing her waist and a pair of lips pressing a kiss to the back of her neck. Her lover left the bed quietly and Solona sighed quietly, before turning around to wrap her arms around the still warm pillow. Snuggling deeper into the covers she let herself fall back asleep.
The second time she was woken up, the bed dipped under someone’s weight, and when she finally opened her eyes, she saw AlfstannaEremon, the Bann of Waking Sea, taking off her shoes quietly.
“Good morning,” Solona said, moving closer to the other woman, and propped herself up on one elbow to watch her lover put away her boots and blades.
“Good morning,” Alfstanna sat back down on the bed and turned to look at Solona, reaching out to touch the mage’s lips with the tips of her fingers softly. She was clearly troubled by something, judging by how tense she looked, and Solona hated to see that look on the other woman’s face.
“Did something happen at the meeting?” She asked, and Alfstanna exhaled, looking away from Solona briefly.
“It’s nothing important,” the Bann said after a while. “I promise.”
Solona knew better than to force her lover to talk, so she just nodded, knowing that if Alfstanna would want to talk to her, she would do so. Instead she grabbed Alfstanna’s hand and pulled her closer. When the other woman sat back against the headboard, still fully clothed, Solona snuggled closer to her, pressing her face against her lover’s neck.
Alfstanna’s short hair tickled Solona’s forehead gently, and her warm fingers running up and down Solona’s naked back felt lovely, so the mage let herself close her eyes again.
“How long can you stay?”
That question was unexpected. The Warden looked up at the Bann, wondering what prompted it. “As long as you want me to, I suppose. Why?”
Alfstanna clearly relaxed at that, so Solona caught the other woman’s hand in hers, tangling their fingers together.
“When I saw you for the first time, and you gave me Irminric’s ring, I had a feeling you were someone special,” Alfstanna muttered, still caressing Solona’s back, touching her long, red hair from time to time. “Your presence here is… calming.”
“Me? Calming?” Solona giggled, hiding her face in Alfstanna’s shoulder. “I believe that’s the first time anyone said that to me. Many would disagree with you.”
One corner of Alfstanna’s lips rose in a smile, and Solona couldn’t help reaching up with one hand to turn the Bann’s face towards hers and bringing their lips together. It was a slow, deep kiss that left Solona breathless. As their broke apart, the Warden closed her eyes and moved even closer to Alfstanna, and the other woman pressed her lips to Solona’s hair.
“And you, Bann Alfstanna? How long can you stay here with me, in this bed?”
“You mean in my bed?”
“Yes, exactly that.”
“As long as you want me to.”

Eddie avidly follows the aftermath of the Windsor College Massacre. He uses all of Ben's resources to keep tabs on the survivors--Sidney, Dwight, Gale. Poor Randall Meeks didn't make it this time, and seven other poor bastards were collateral damage. And, just like last time, neither killer lived long enough to provide any sort of explanation. Sidney, Gale, and Cotton Weary (which, how the fuck did he get involved? Eddie goes down that rabbit hole and learns more than he ever wanted to about the fickleness of fame) provide statements to the police, and of course Gale Weather is going to write a book about it, but every new piece of information just adds to the stewpot (stewpot, hah) of confusion.
Ben helps him refine what exactly he wants, at the end of all this -- before letting Stu Macher rest for good, before looking towards eternity, however long that is as Eddie and whoever he becomes next, what does he want? what would be enough to satisfy the debt left in the wake of Billy's death?
"I want her to live," Eddie decides one morning, watching Gale fucking Weathers on a talk show, talking about how pathetic Billy Loomis and Stu Macher were, about how screwed up the Loomis family must've been, considering two serial killers came out of it. So much suppositions and assumptions, so much trashtalking of Billy and all that he was--
Stu Macher never had much of a temper. He was more of a go-with-the-flow guy, who never saw the point of raging. Not until he crawled out of his grave and saw what had been done to Billy. Eddie Pierce, he's finding, is always angry, simmering with fury he hasn't been able to expend.
But, "I want her to live," he decides. "Gale and Tatum's brother, they're gonna die and leave her all alone."
Ben nods. "Survival is often the worst punishment." There's a wry humor in the words but Eddie doesn't ask. He's got planning to focus on, while Gale Weathers keeps droning in the background, her lies the kindling to a bonfire she can't possibly see coming.
