Hello, everyone. I’m tigriswolf and today's theme is the ocean. Prompts can be anything at all about oceans.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.

No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.

Ben was at a corner table in the mess hall; cheek in palm, elbow on table, with a miserable look on his face. He let out a sigh as Ortiz walked in wearing civvies, and headed straight for a large bowl of fruit. When no response from his friend came, Ben sighed again, a little louder.

Giving the orange in his hand a slight toss into the air, Ortiz smiled to himself and headed back toward the door as a third sigh could be heard, followed by a cough. "I am not staying behind to keep you company," he turned, pointing to Ben with the orange.

"It's not fair, Miguel!" Ben scoffed, sitting up and throwing up his hands. "It wasn't my fault."

"You got arrested, Krieg. You're lucky all Bridger did was ground you," Ortiz shrugged before leaving the mess.

Mags supposed that the ocean that lapped at her toes as she wandered down South Beach didn't exactly separate her from Jack (well, maybe technically it didn't, it was all a crisscross of land and train lines in-between them whether Jack was in One or the Capitol, but it was still the same ocean).

If she tossed a message in a bottle into the ocean, it might very well make its way around to Jack's home-district (ultimately it could also drift the other way though). ...Just because he wasn't able to walk all the way down to the sand there, he'd have to do some industrial strength fishing from the top of that huge wall blocking off the coast to try and hook it (assuming she even had a chance to tell him she was sending it- but she didn't want to waste away that much of his time every day he was home in One).

It was the Capitol keeping them apart. Obviously Mags would have preferred for them not to go these lengthy stretches of time apart, but the Capitol held suspicions and enforced them to the tee.

Every year that either Jack or Mags failed to bring home a new victor from the Games was another year they would meet solely during Games season.

And the Capitol's reasoning was correct after all- they had been too young to contribute anything meaningful during the Dark Days, but their experiences since then had brought them straight to rebel-hood nonetheless.
