Tuesday - Seven Deadly Sins

Hi folks. [livejournal.com profile] trinityday again, your guest host for this week. And today our theme is the seven deadly sins.

Lust (or extravagance). Gluttony. Greed. Sloth (or despair). Wrath. Envy. Pride (or vainglory).

For the sake of our code monkeys, please remember not to go crazy and to limit yourself to 5 prompts in a row, with only 3 of those in the same fandom. If your original prompts get answered, then feel free to leave some more later in the day.

Spoilers are not allowed in your prompts until a week (7 days) has passed from the original air date. If there are spoilers in your fic, warn people by bolding and leaving at least 3 spaces.

Also, please thank your fic provider. Not only is it the nice thing to do, but it often helps encourage them to write even more.

Please make sure you format your prompts correctly, the last being for crossovers:

Veronica Mars, Veronica/Lilly, lust for life
Dark Angel, Max/Alec, too vain and boastful for her taste
Pirates of the Caribbean/Doctor Who, Jack/Christina, envious of the other's freedom

If none of today's prompts catch your eye, check out the Lonely Prompts over at delicious.

Uther is broken hearted after Morgana leaves with the druids. He orders that any trace of his former ward to be destroyed, banned forever, and no-one bu Gaius is allowed into his chambers the first few days after that. Gwen cries when she thinks no-one is looking at her, and Merlin helps her save what they can, hide it away as a memento, because it all seems that they are never going to see the lady Morgana again.

But Arthur is livid with anger, his wrath scaring even his knights. He doubles the practice hours, and Merlin winces in sympathy as knight after knight after knight get defeated by a grieving, angry Arthur.

Merlin follows him in silence and he bites his lips more often than not to keep from giving Arthur any lip, because he actually does know that there is a place and time for that and with how hurt Arthur is, anything would break him.

And still...

"I'm sure the lady--" he stops for a moment when Arthur turns towards him, his eyes ablaze with anger, but he makes himself speak. "I'm sure the lady Morgana felt she was doing the right thing."

"Is that so, Merlin? Just what was right about this? About her using magic? Maybe where she betrayed Camelot? Or perhaps it's the part where she tried to have my father killed?"

Merlin winces, but he feels he owes Morgana at least this much.

"About not telling anyone," Merlin says. "With the ban on magic, anyone would be scared about admitting..."

"Forget the ban! She could have told me!" Arthur screams, pushing the chair away, and Merlin winces at the way it clatters to the floor, keeping his space as Arthur gets close. "I would have protected her, no matter what! She should have known as much! I would have found a way to help her, but now I'm supposed to hunt her as if she was a beast! Damn her to hell and back! How am I supposed to protect anyone if they lie to me?!"

This is it, Merlin thinks. Just tell him. Show him that you trust him and that you're not scared of him, of what could happen.

He hesitates at the last moment, instead pressing closer to Arthur, kissing him, a hand on the back of his neck and Arthur shivers before he kisses back, hard and the anger still thrumming inside him, bitter and ugly as Arthur's hands grab unto his hips.

I trust you. Merlin thinks. I know you're hurt. I have magic, but I know you wouldn't fear me, nor think I'm your enemy. I trust you, Arthur. but he doesn't dare to say it out loud.

Because perhaps he understands Morgana better than he wishes he did.

Well done.

Aw, that's great!

What with Merlin's understanding of Morgana, and Merlin's method of calming Arthur down, and Arthur's betrayal...

Hints of things to come!

This is just... great.
