Friday: TV Crossovers
Jul. 5th, 2019 12:01 amIt's finally Friday, friends! I’m
sherlockian_syn and today's theme is TV Crossovers. Prompts can be crossovers or fusions of any kind, but at least one of the fandoms has to be a TV show. Other than that, go wild. Thank you so much for participating this week, and I hope you've enjoyed me as your host!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis/Stranger Things, any, an away team finds themselves in the Upside Down
+ Buffy the Vampire Slayer/True Blood, Buffy Summers + any, Buffy rolls into Bon Temps looking for a fight
+ Sherlock, Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, The Shape of Water fusion
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2019 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2019-07-05 03:24 pm (UTC)Before Sherlock could speak, the other man said, “It’s a bit nicer up here, isn’t it?” Sherlock made a non-committal sound, but the man continued, “I’m John Edwards, by the way. I do business with Toby Reynolds.” Edwards indicated a fair-haired man who was standing next to an ornamental fountain, chatting to a group of people. “What brings you to this shindig?”
“I have dealings with Reynolds as well,” Sherlock said. Strictly speaking that wasn’t true, but the dossier Mycroft had provided had been sufficiently detailed only Reynolds’ closest confederates would catch him out. Interestingly, the dossier hadn’t mentioned anything about an Edwards. Sherlock took a closer look at the man, to find a pair of blue eyes giving him a very appraising look.
“And what sort of dealings would those be, Mr Holmes?” Edwards continued.
“Similar to yours, I believe, Mr North,” Sherlock replied.
Lucas North chuckled. “Touché!”

Date: 2019-07-05 11:10 am (UTC)Fill -- Mumbo-Jumbo
Date: 2019-07-06 04:32 am (UTC)They’re in our space, Eddie. Why are they in our space? Are they bad people? Venom always sounds hopeful at the prospect of bad people, since they add variety to his diet.
There’s always the chance that they’re from maintenance or some shit like that, so Eddie cautions the symbiote to hold up for a moment. The last thing he wants is to be responsible for devouring a couple unfortunate plumbers/exterminators/electricians/whatever.
“Hey, how’s it going?” the shorter of the two asks. “I’m Mr. Hetfield. This is my associate Mr. Ulrich. Don’t worry, we’ll make this as quick and painless as possible….”
That does not sound good.
Mr. Ulrich starts chanting. Eddie stares at him, nonplussed. It sounds…Eddie’s family wasn’t religious, but he grew up in a Catholic neighborhood in Jersey and the mumbo-jumbo Ulrich is spouting sounds like Latin to him. Not that either of these guys look like priests--more like down-on-their-luck used car salesmen--which makes this whole thing really bizarre. From a guy who shares his body with an alien symbiote, that’s saying something.
“Mind telling me what this is all about?” he asks Mr. Hetfield.
“Nothing to worry about. We had a tip that you haven’t been yourself lately--we’re just taking care of that for you.” He glances above Eddie’s head.
Eddie looks up. There’s some kind of weird design drawn in charcoal on the formerly pristine ceiling.
Venom screams. They made a mess on our ceiling! Look at that!
The symbiote has gotten better about asking permission before he hijacks Eddie’s body, but he’s so upset by the vandalism that he takes over and expands to his elongated form. Tentacles begin swiping frantically at the drawing, smearing the charcoal…it’s not quite a Magic Eraser, but it blurs the design to a cloudy grey smudge.
Ulrich has stopping chanting. He looks shocked. “It shouldn’t be able to do that,” he says to his partner. “Have you ever seen a demon even try to touch a seal like that?”
Stop, stop, stop! Eddie begs Venom. They don’t understand, they made a mistake. Please don’t eat them.
Venom retracts back inside him, and Eddie says, “Was that supposed to be an exorcism? Look, thanks, but that’s not going to work. He’s not a demon. He’s an alien. Like, an outer space alien.” They’re both gaping at him. “Perfectly understandable error, but guys? You just lost me my damage deposit.”
Wide-eyed, they both empty their wallets. “We can always get more,” Urich says to Hetfield, who doesn’t look too happy about it.
The two hastily depart, giving Eddie a wide berth. He counts the restitution they made: $386. That’ll buy a lot of Magic Erasers. He’s pretty sure they can clean it up enough not to lose his deposit.
They made a mess. Venom grumbles.
“I know, buddy, but they thought they were helping me out. Don’t worry about it. Come on, let’s have some donuts. You’ll feel better.”
….
I haven't written anything for SPN for at least five years (I quit the fandom after they killed off Bobby's ghost), but I could imagine this happening.
.
THANK YOU!!!!

Date: 2019-07-05 02:14 pm (UTC)Fill 1/2: warnings for angst and presumed character death
Date: 2019-07-06 03:07 am (UTC)“How do you think this ends, McKay?” John asked. “You won’t beat me. You’re too soft.”
Rodney swung the sword with one hand, trying to ignore the sick feeling in his stomach. He would’ve died for John, once. Before the curse lifted and John’s soul was taken away again. Before he once again embraced his cruel alter-ego, the one documented in the old Watcher journals: Black Ian.
“I’m the Slayer,” Rodney reminded him. “It’s right there in the title.”
He could talk the talk all day long. That was the easy part. But Rodney didn’t know if he could do the deed. He loved John, more than he’d ever loved anyone or anything. Even now, after everything John had done.
“Is that supposed to scare me?” John taunted, swinging his own sword. The one he’d removed from the statue of Acathla, the one he’d used to make his blood sacrifice. “You forget how well I know you, McKay. What you’re afraid of. What gives you nightmares. I know all your soft spots.”
He leered at Rodney, who flushed in response. John was right. He knew how to hurt Rodney, just as he’d known how to hurt all of Rodney’s friends. Even if Radek had been able to figure out the spell that would return John’s soul, things could never be the same between them. He’d tortured and nearly killed Evan. He’d killed Sha’re, his Watcher’s girlfriend, and then kidnapped Dr. Jackson to make him suffer even more.
There were some things that could never be undone.
“I never thought I’d say this, but you talk too much.”
Rodney charged and John met him halfway, swords clanging. They moved around the ballroom in a deadly dance, thrusting and parrying in a gross mockery of the intimacy that had landed them in this situation to start with. One moment of pure happiness, the two of them joined as close as two people could be.
One moment of happiness that might destroy the world as they knew it.
Rodney was all too aware that he had to make his move. Acathla was slowly coming to life and the window to end things was getting smaller and smaller. He only hoped that Evan was able to get Dr. Jackson out of the mansion and to safety. There was no saving John, but he could save everyone else. He had to.
“This ends now,” Rodney said.
He was sure he was gaining the upper hand, but the next thing he knew his sword was flying out of his hand, landing on the marble floor with a loud clatter. John pointed his sword at Rodney’s throat, the point a hair’s breadth from the delicate skin there.
“You’re right. It does end. And where are all your friends, McKay? Who’s going to help you now?”
Rodney closed his eyes, chest heaving from exertion and fear. He couldn’t stand looking at John, seeing how cold and hard he’d become. The bashful, caring, heroic vampire with a soul was gone. One of them had to die today. And one of them had to kill.
He felt John move, used his Slayer senses just like Luke Skywalker used the Force to sense the trajectory of the sword. When John tried to plunge it into Rodney’s throat, Rodney stopped it. He caught it between his hands, blade biting just a little into the meat of his palms.
He opened his eyes. “I have me. And that’s always been enough.”
