Tuesday: 100 Words on Secrets
Aug. 13th, 2019 12:01 amHi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’re going to be filling themes inspired by the movies Grease and Grease 2, using 100 words or any multiple of 100. Today’s theme is SECRETS, which made up big plot points for both movies. Any prompts related to secrets – the keeping of them, the spilling of them, Secret deodorant – are welcome today!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay,
Charades do disguise,
All the love I keep inside me,
Charades conceal me,
But can you feel the real me
(Maxwell Caulfield)
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Any, I’m A Massive Hypocrite (I Feel Bad)
+ Any, any m/m, having a secret admirer
+ Hawaii Five-0, Grace Williams, overhearing a secret and busting with the need to share it
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

"It was in my locker."
"Wow," Alex says. He hands it back. "Who do you think wrote it?"
"Absolutely no idea," Chris says. "Hey, can I borrow your notes?"
"Sure," Alex says, trying desperately to keep the sudden realization of the major flaw in his plan from showing on his face.
When Chris gives his notebook back, there's an answering note scrawled on the first blank page.

Date: 2019-08-13 07:54 am (UTC)Fill 1/2: Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams + Matt Williams (1200)
Date: 2019-08-14 01:38 am (UTC)There was a bigger turnout at the funeral than Danny expected. Jersey relatives he hadn’t seen in twenty years or more had made the trip. Members of HPD, the Governor, friends, and even some Navy personnel were sitting out in the sun looking at his flower-draped casket.
“Cousin Mel didn’t come to my funeral,” Matt complained.
“She always liked me more,” Danny teased half-heartedly.
He and Matt were sitting on headstones nearby, something Danny never would’ve done when he was alive because it was so disrespectful. But he wasn’t alive anymore, and nothing mattered. Nothing would ever matter again.
“Grace looks so grown-up.”
Danny was trying not to look at her, or Charlie sitting so solemnly beside her. She’d just started college – marine biology, of course – and he was so proud of her. When it was time, she got up to the podium and gave the eulogy.
“Do we have to be here?” Danny asked. His throat was tight, and his face was wet as he listened to his baby girl tell the assembled crowd why her father was and always would be her hero. “I can’t do this.”
“You owe it to them,” Matt said.
“It’s not my fault I got shot!”
“Of course not. But you need to hear their last words to you. It’ll help when it’s time to move on, trust me.”
There was nothing Danny could say to that. Matt was his younger brother, but he’d died first. He was the one with the experience this time.
“I hate to point this out, bro, but your man Steve isn’t doing so well.”
Steve was sitting up front with the rest of Five-0, resplendent in his dress blues. He was so stiff he might have been a sculpture. Anyone who didn’t know him would assume he was being respectfully solemn. But Danny knew Steve almost as well as he knew himself. He could see the deep lines of grief etched in Steve’s handsome face, could see the how red his eyes were and how his hands were clenched so tightly his knuckles were white.
Danny hated that he was another loss for Steve, who already had so many. He hated that he wouldn’t be there to keep Steve from doing stupidly heroic things for other people and not taking any care with himself.
“You ever tell him?” Matt asked.
Danny shot his brother a side-eye look. “Tell him what?”
“Really? That’s how you’re gonna be? The dead have no secrets with each other. Especially when they’re brothers.”
If only the dead couldn’t feel guilt.
“No. I didn’t tell him.”
“Why the hell not?”
“Steve knowing I’m in love with him serves no purpose. It won’t make him any less sad.”
Matt snorted and rolled his eyes. “Oh, please. What’s the real reason?”
“Don’t push it.”
Matt make chicken noises and bobbed his head at Danny. Clearly death didn’t make a person more mature.
“I didn’t want to give him the chance to say no, okay? Is that what you wanted to hear? I couldn’t take the rejection. Not from Steve.”
Dying was preferable to the look that would’ve been on Steve’s face if Danny had confessed what was in his heart. They were best friends. They relied on each other every day, in a hundred different ways that weren’t necessarily tied to just the job. Losing that trust, losing the energy they had together, would’ve destroyed Danny.
“You’re that sure he’d have said no?”
“Yes, doubting Matthew, I’m that sure. I think I know Steve a little better than you do.”
“If you say so.”
While they’d been arguing, the cemetery had emptied out. Danny didn’t know where everyone was going for the traditional post-funeral consumption of meat platters and casseroles. Rachel’s? Steve’s? Some neutral location like a restaurant?
“So what happens now?” Danny asked. “Bright light? Angels with harps?”
“Now you get to hear Steve’s final words.”

Pepper always tried to respect Natasha’s boundaries. She knew sometimes keeping a secret meant someone else didn’t get killed. Some of the secrets Natasha kept were out of self-preservation. Some of them kept Pepper safe.
It wasn’t that Pepper really wanted to know all the deep, dark dealings of the Black Widow, but she did want Natasha to know she could tell Pepper anything, and Pepper’s love wouldn’t change.
So Pepper reminded Natasha, more than once, her secrets would always be safe.

Hands that metaphorically would never come clean of the blood they had shed.
With a tired sigh, Bucky shoved his hands in his jeans pockets and walked away from the gym before Steve saw him.
He didn't need Steve seeing him look so glum. He didn't need his friend asking him what was wrong, because he knew that he would tell him.
Therefore he kept walking, because there were some secrets that no one ever needed to know about.

Date: 2019-08-13 05:57 pm (UTC)“Rage or inexperience?” Steve asked, squatting in the dust to take a closer look.
“Could be either, or both.”
“We’ll have to check with his associates, see if anyone knows anything.”
Danny snorted. “They won’t talk to us.”
He was wrong about that. Steve approached the ragtag group of miscreants full of concern for their safety, and when they found out how Nash died they immediately started pointing fingers. At each other.
“He got in a dust-up with Bill ‘bout that missin’ whisky.”
“No we didn’t neither! He was after Nils over that there saloon gal!”
“You leave Kelly outta this!”
Things devolved quickly as punches were thrown and the men started scrapping with each other.
“Sheriff, sir?”
Danny had forgotten all about the kid, still growing because he was all gangly arms and legs and didn’t have so much as a single hair on his face.
“Mr. Nash was workin’ a secret job.”
That stopped the squabbling right quick, and Nash’s men all turned to stare at the kid.
“I ain’t heard tell of any job,” Bill said dismissively.
The kid puffed up a little. “Cause he didn’t trust any of you.”
Bill make a move in the kid’s direction, but Steve stopped him with a hand to the chest and a withering glare.
“Do you know anything about the job?” Danny asked.
The kid shook his head. “No, sir. But I think he had partners. Said he was fixin’ to make some big money.”
Steve thanked the kid and slipped him some money for the information, but Danny pulled him aside.
“Listen, kid. You stay with these guys and your life won’t be worth a Confederate dollar. You want some real work, you come around the jail.”
The kid’s eyes were so wide Danny was worried they might fall right out of his head. “Thanks!”
Steve and Danny mounted up and headed back to town, and Steve waited till they were out of earshot of Nash’s men before teasing him.
“We adopting another kid, Danny?”
“Shut up. I’m just rewarding good manners, is all.”
No need to mention that Danny hoped someone would do a similar kindness to his brother Matthew if the situation ever arose.

Date: 2019-08-13 10:52 am (UTC)Fill 1/2: To Be Continued, Bin/Eunwoo
Date: 2019-08-13 06:06 pm (UTC)Now Eunwoo was going to go out drinking beer and soju with MJ and Jinjin and Bin would be stuck at the dorms with Rocky and Sanha drinking Fanta.
Bin sat beside Eunwoo while he recorded a video for the fans. The traditional gifts for coming of age were flowers, perfume, and a kiss. Eunwoo was right - Bin wasn’t much for ceremony. He’d been clowning around when he drew the rose and perfume for Eunwoo in his notebook, but his heart had leaped when Eunwoo put the paper under his pillow, promised to sleep with it close.
He promised to take care of Bin on his big day next year. Even before taking the oath of adulthood, Eunwoo had been hardworking and responsible. Bin knew Eunwoo would take care of him.
Bin knew that Eunwoo had zero clue about the secret Bin had been holding in his heart for a long time, since that first time he’d stood beside Eunwoo’s piano and sang the song he wrote. Bin liked Eunwoo.
Liked him a lot.
So many times he’d wanted to tell Eunwoo before, but he’d been too afraid, and Eunwoo had always been short-tempered with him besides. Now that they were trainees, people were watching them constantly, making sure they worked hard and looked good and were innocently single, because the company had a reputation to maintain. Their team was the company’s first boy group, and they had a huge burden on their shoulders.
Now it was too late to tell Eunwoo, because Eunwoo was an adult now, and Bin was still a kid.
That night, late after supper, after they’d all washed and crawled into bed, Bin lay awake, staring at the bottom of Eunwoo’s bunk. Sometimes he thought he was missing out on the fun the other four had in their room, but on nights like this, he was grateful for the privacy.
He glanced at his watch, sighed.
“Can’t sleep?” Eunwoo asked.
“Sorry, am I keeping you awake?”
“No. I can’t sleep either. I just - my parents brought me flowers and perfume, and my dad took me for my first drink, only I wasn’t with my classmates or other friends for the ceremony today. I was training all day and then on camera with you for a few thousand fans. Which is amazing. Most of my classmates don’t get to ever experience that. But sometimes I feel like I’m missing out on the best parts of being young, the parts that are small.”
Bin nodded even though Eunwoo couldn’t see. “I know what you mean.” Then he cleared his throat. “I’m sorry I didn’t take your big day seriously. Then I put you on the spot while we were filming for the fans and made you promise to make my day special next year. You don’t have to. I was just joking around.”
“Don’t worry. Coming of age is a big deal and I want to make it special for you next year. It’s fine.”
And with Eunwoo, it really was. Behind his hot temper and fragile ego he was kind, loyal.
“I should get you a real present. It’s not midnight yet.” Bin sat up, swung his legs over the side of the bed.
Eunwoo poked his head over the side of his bunk, eyes wide. “No, that’s insane. If you get caught sneaking out of the dorms, the managers will totally freak out and cut your lines on the next song and-”

“It should be easy enough to set a trap,” Sherlock was saying, laying out the entire plan for catching the woman he was certain was the murderess.
“Loose lips sink ships,” John said.
Sherlock gave him a blank look, so John leaned in, his lips practically brushing against the other man’s ear.
“The driver is listening,” he murmured.
Sherlock turned his head, so that he and John were practically cheek to cheek. John had to fight to keep his breathing even. He didn’t want to give himself away.
“I want him to hear,” Sherlock murmured in reply. “And the proper term is ‘careless talk costs lives’.”
“Noted.”
John pulled back and let Sherlock get back to it.
