Friday: 100 Words on Cool Rides
Aug. 16th, 2019 12:03 amHi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’ve been filling themes inspired by the movie Grease and its sequel, using 100 words or any multiple of 100. Thank you so much to everyone who left a prompt and/or filled one. Ya’ll are great! Our final theme is COOL RIDES. Grease was all about the hot rods and Grease 2 was motorcycles. Prompts today can be about any cool ride your character likes to tool around in, be it a spaceship, a bicycle built for two, or a sleek motorboat. ::rides off into the sunset::
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams,
Baby you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you
(The Beatles)
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay, demolition derby
+ Any, Any, Motorcycle Mama (Sailcat)
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, ensemble, competing car salespersons
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Evan has his sketchbook propped up on his knees. A shirtless Ronon is his subject, sharpening his collection of wicked knives. The
Evan glances up at Rodney, smiles, and Rodney nods cautiously going to the bar to find a clean glass.
The side door bangs open. Immediately Rodney is behind a wall of leather-clad humans, all of them bristling with weapons.
And then Evan says, “Teyla. Welcome back.”
Ronon, Miko, and Evan break formation, and Rodney sees a beautiful woman, dark-skinned, leather-clad, standing in the doorway.
“How is Kanaan?” Miko asks.
Teyla smiles. “He is well.”
She unbuckles a pair of short wooden rods from somewhere on her back and leans them against the wall. Her weapons. And then she shrugs off her backpack.
Only it’s not a backpack but a baby carrier, and a tiny baby is asleep inside.
Rodney is mildly terrified when Evan descends, cooing.
“Hey, Torren. Have a good trip with Mommy?” Evan has Torren out of the baby carrier and cuddled against his chest in a trice.
“My motorcycle always helps him sleep,” Teyla says, smiling.
Ronon leans in, presses his forehead to hers in greeting.
“I trust that you all are well?” Teyla asks.
Miko nods, and Teyla reaches into the baby carrier - and scatters real gold coins across the bar.
“Tell John my journey was very fruitful,” she says, and Ronon nods. “Torren likely needs a diaper change before he sleeps for the night.”
“I’ve got it,” Evan says. “I know it’s been all you for the last little while.” He’s swaying. Tiny Torren yawns and blinks in his arms.
Then Teyla looks Rodney up at down. “Is this him? John’s lover.”
Rodney is still trying to wrap his mind around Teyla the biker mom. “Who are you?”
“John’s first lieutenant,” Evan says. “Dr. Rodney, this is Teyla. Teyla Emmagan, this is Rodney.”
Teyla smiles and inclines her head graciously. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Rodney. I have heard much about you.”
“I’ve heard nothing about you,” Rodney admits.
Teyla becomes. “Then come, let us become better acquainted. Do you like tea?”
“As long as it’s citrus-free.”

Date: 2019-08-16 06:49 pm (UTC)They had come to the town in a little Ford pick up truck that had seen better days to take out a nest of vampires.
They had taken out the nest, but the truck died as well. So they resorted to a little grand theft auto.
"Shut up, Dean," Sam snapped back. "It was this or the broke down looking pick up truck at the gas station.
"Just saying I could have done better," Dean muttered wishing he was driving his Baby, but they left her with Bobby because she wasn't running right.
Sam sighed and counted to ten before he spoke again. "Pull over and I'll drive. Sounds like you need a nap."
"Fuck you," Dean immediately retorted, but did as Sam suggested.
"In another lifetime," Sam shot back before trading places with Dean.
Dean snorted. He got comfortable by resting his head against the passenger door window. He promptly fell asleep.
Sam shook his head. He put the car into gear and drove them back to Bobby's.

“What have I told you about being sassy, young man?” Henry asked.
They all laughed, and Abe threw his hands up in the air in mock horror at the reproof.
“Actually,” Henry continued, “It’s the British mini.”
“Of course,” Abe said. “The Italian Job.”
“What?” Jo looked blank.
“We’ll have to show you, then you’ll understand,” Abe said. He wandered out whistling ‘The Self Preservation Society.’

Date: 2019-08-16 12:15 pm (UTC)Fill 1/2: McDanno + Grace, Western AU (800)
Date: 2019-08-16 04:57 pm (UTC)Actually, Danny wasn’t sure who was more excited. When Steve found out Mustang Sally was coming to town he’d been the giddy one, all big smiles and enthusiasm. Grace, who had no experience with rodeos, hadn’t known what all the fuss was about. Now, though, she was wide-eyed and gasping at each trick.
“Daddy Steve, look!”
Mustang Sally’s next bit was shooting at targets while hanging off the side of her horse. Each can went sailing off the fence rail with a loud plunk.
“Can you teach me that?”
“No,” Danny said.
“You bet,” Steve said at the same time.
They exchanged glares over the top of Grace’s head. Danny knew a certain amount of rough-and-tumble was expected for a girl growing up in the West, but he wanted more for Grace. She deserved a proper education and the skills necessary to run her own home when she was older and married. Shooting targets from a moving horse was hardly the kind of skill a proper lady needed.
After the show, which had included an archery presentation by an Indian called Shadow Bear and Mustang Sally competing with Captain Kropp in precision shooting, the audience gathered around to speak with the performers.
“Can we meet Mustang Sally?” Grace asked. “Please, Danno?”
The lady in question was surrounded by a group of admirers, including Willie Pine the banker, and Gil Morrisey who ran the stables. But when Mustang Sally, her fancy blue chaps and fringed shirt covered in dust, saw Grace she pushed right past them.
“Hey, there, little lady.” Mustang Sally squatted down and shook Grace’s hand. “Did you like the show?”
“I wanna be just like you!”
Of course she did. Danny sent Steve an accusatory look, but Steve just raised an eyebrow in that frustrating way he had.
“You can be anything you want to be, and forget what the menfolk have to say about it,” Mustang Sally said. “You make your own way, just like I did, and you’ll have a pretty good life.”

Get in to my car
Get outta my mind
Get in to my life
(Billy Ocean)
Fill 1/2 (900)
Date: 2019-08-17 06:08 am (UTC)Some of Evan’s earliest memories involved her helping the people who came to the commune specifically to seek her advice with big decisions or to see if she could help them find something they lost. Nana would hold their hand and close her eyes, and most times she’d have an answer for them.
Evan’s mother didn’t have the Sight.
“It skips a generation, sometimes,” Nana said.
Evan assumed his sister would get it, or maybe his cousin Jenny. Then he started having the dreams. Detailed, specific dreams that he’d remember in the morning. Dreams that, more often than not, eventually came to pass.
“What you have is a gift,” Nana told him not long before she passed away. Cancer. “But it’s up to you what to do with it. Don’t let it take you over, Bluebell. You’re more than the Sight.”
Evan took her at her word. If the dreams showed him something that he could do to help someone, and he had the ability to do it, he would. If it seemed too big for him, he wouldn’t. It served him pretty well through the years.
One thing Evan never saw was his own future, even when he tried. Even when there was something he so desperately wanted to know. He’d never thought to ask Nana if the Sight worked for her the same way.
Which didn’t account for Blue Eyes.
He’d been popping up in Evan’s dreams for as long as he could remember, even before the prophetic dreaming started, ageing right along with Evan all the while. Blue Eyes was never doing anything particularly interesting, just everyday stuff: eating dinner, doing homework, arguing with a little girl that might have been his sister. She called him Mer.
“You think he’s your soulmate?” Talia asked.
Evan’s sister was his confidante, the one he went to when he needed help making sense of a dream or just needed to talk about how they made him feel.
“I don’t believe in soulmates, you know that.”
“Why else would you keep seeing him, then? He has to be important to you.”
“Or maybe whatever’s going to happen to him is so big I need to pay closer attention.”
But nothing happened. Evan went through his messy teenage years alongside Mer, admiring how the other boy went from scrawny and angular to having broad shoulders and muscular arms. And he was so, so smart. A genius who never seemed to fit in with the people around him – his parents, his peers, his teachers.
Evan cried when Mer stopped playing piano.
No matter where Evan went, he looked for Blue Eyes. Anyone with a similar body type, or similar hair, or a crooked mouth made him take a second look. But it was never the right guy. Never the right face.
Led by his dreams, Evan joined the Air Force after college even though it caused a rift in his peace-loving family. There were people he could only help as a pilot. And he loved flying, loved the speed and adrenalin and freedom of it. He excelled as an officer. His life was good.

Date: 2019-08-16 12:45 pm (UTC)Fill: MCU: Tony+Steve ×2
Date: 2019-08-17 03:29 am (UTC)"Sure. Bring her over today," Tony replied with a tired grin. "I don't have anything pressing to do at the moment."
"Thanks," Steve said relieved that his girl would be in good hands. "She's been running a little rough and I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out why."
"No problem," Tony told him. "Maybe between the both of us we can figure it out, and then take her out for a spin."
"Sounds like a plan," Steve remarked. "I'll see you in a couple of hours."
*&*
Tony had left the garage door open so Steve drove his bike inside and parked it.
"I see what you mean by running a little rough," Tony said in lieu of a proper greeting.
"Can you fix her?"
"Yes," Tony answered with a grin. He couldn't wait to get his hands on her.
*&*
Tony wrapped his arms around Steve's waist and held on as Steve drove his newly repaired bike out of Tony's garage and onto the street.
They were taking an impromptu road trip not caring where they headed since they were making certain the bike performed the way it should.
If romance happened, then that was a story for another time.

“It’s a classic.”

“You win twenty million dollars in the lottery and the first thing you buy is The Bandit’s Trans-Am?!”
“It wasn’t the first thing I bought. You haven’t even mentioned my cowboy hat.”
