On Friday we deal with hurt/comfort
Nov. 29th, 2019 07:23 amIt's the end of the week, and since I have to work, it's hurting me a little. So that's why today's theme is hurt/comfort. You know, that whump so good that one character gets, and then your other character comes along and comforts them? Or maybe they're whumped together, and do what they can to bring each other some comfort. Maybe Steve and Danny are in an accident and spend the weekend recuperating at Steve's place, where Grace tries to take care of them. Or maybe Rodney McKay steps in front of John Sheppard on a mission and gets injured on a mission, so John does what he can to help him. Whatever the fandom or pairing, if you like to wallop characters from time to time, then today's the day!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams + Grace, Steve and Danny get injured on an OP, and Grace takes care of them
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay, Rodney steps in front of John and gets injured
+ Letterkenny, Wayne /or+ Daryl (+Hicks), One of them gets injured, but not on the farm
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2019 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2019-11-29 06:44 pm (UTC)“It’s okay,” a voice said quietly, “You’re quite safe. Just breathe slowly.”
“I can’t, I just can’t,” Lucas could hear the panic in his own voice.
“I’m going to put my hand on your chest. Concentrate on pushing it away with your breathing.”
Lucas felt one of Adam’s hands on his back and the other on his chest. He tried to follow the instructions, but the nightmare kept coming back and he began to shiver.
“You’re doing really well,” Adam said. “I’m putting my arms around you and will hold you until it’s all passed.”
Safe within Adam’s arms, Lucas slowly felt grounded again. Finally, he said, “I’m okay now.”
“Good, let’s go and make a hot drink and find the biscuits.”
“I can do that.”
“No, we’ll go together!”

Date: 2019-11-29 07:06 pm (UTC)“Okay,” Sherlock said, “but I can assure you I’m perfectly fit. You’ve had another nightmare.”
“That may be the case. But I won’t be able to go back to sleep until I reassure myself.”
Sherlock lay still and submitted to John’s attention. Finally, John gave a deep sigh and nodded. He lay back down. Sherlock put his arms around him and said, “I am sorry, John.”

Date: 2019-11-29 10:34 pm (UTC)Evan handed him one mirror, then angled the other so Rodney could see the small tattoo on his left shoulder blade. “I might be a little bit biased, but I think it looks good.”
“Really?”
Evan nodded. “Yes.”
“And you don’t think matching tattoos for our one-year anniversary is stupid?”
“I have never gone ahead with a tattoo that I think is a stupid idea,” Evan said.
Rodney gazed into the mirror for a long time. Then he said, “Okay. I’ve had my fill. Bandage it up?”
Evan nodded and set the mirror aside. Then he cleaned Rodney’s skin gently, smoothed some lotion on the inked area, and taped a bandage over it. “Wear that for four hours, then take it off and wash gently with soap and water. As long as you wash it in the shower every day and keep it moisturized you should be fine after that.”
Rodney nodded. “Right. Say - if I have trouble reaching it to get lotion on it, will you help me?”
Evan smiled. “You know I’d never say no to you.”
“You say no to me all the time.”
“In professional matters, obviously. But when it comes to tattoos -”
“Of course.” Rodney slid off the tattoo bench and stretched gingerly. “Four hours. Wash. Moisturize.”
“It looks beautiful,” Evan said, “even if I do say so myself.”
“Thank you,” Rodney said. He caught Evan’s gaze and held it. “I mean it.”
Evan managed a pleasant smile. “You’re welcome.”
Rodney tugged on his blue uniform shirt. “John is going to love it.” He headed for the door.
Evan called after him, “Happy anniversary!”
As soon as the door to his quarters shut, he slumped over and buried his face in his hands, breathing hard.
Finally, he straightened up and grabbed his radio. “Lorne for Zelenka.”
“Go for Zelenka.”
“You still have some Becherovka?”
“Ah, yes,” Radek said knowingly. “Rodney said you gave him a special tattoo to match Sheppard’s for their one year anniversary. Are you also going to plan their wedding?”
“Do you have some or not?”
“I do. See you after supper.”
“Thanks.” Evan set his radio aside, pushed himself to his feet, and set about cleaning up his tattooing gear.
