Friday : 80s style and fashion
Jan. 24th, 2020 06:52 amHello, everyone. I’m
cornerofmadness and today's theme is 80s style and fashion. Prompts can be characters from the 80s rocking the styles, modern characters going retro style (or maybe they’re glad they didn’t have to wear Swatch watches and have giant hair). However you want to tackle it. If you want a little help finding some 80s style for inspiration head tohere or here.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Prodigal Son, Malcolm Bright + team, he’s found a picture of Gil and Jackie Arroyo in bright Jams (shorts) and chucks.
+ Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Spike/Drusilla, they run across an old vampire friend who has adopted the Hair Band look
+ Supernatural, Dean and Sam Winchester, one of them has found a coveted piece of tacky, a casio Donkey Kong game watch
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2020 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2020-01-24 05:27 pm (UTC)Fill 1/2: Team Sheppard + Cadman + Miko
Date: 2020-01-25 06:53 am (UTC)“How do I look?” Ronon asked, baring his fangs.
“Suitably feral,” Teyla replied approvingly.
“You’ll do,” John said.
Actually, he looked pretty damn good. There were a handful of people on Atlantis who turned out to be magicians with makeup and costumes, and they’d turned Ronon into a partially transformed werewolf from An American Werewolf in London.
Ronon flexed his fur-covered fingers. “Wolfman. Cool.”
The Halloween party had an 80s horror movie theme, costumes mandatory. John knew Chuck was responsible for that because Rodney had found out and ranted about it for a full forty minutes.
“Check me out!”
Cadman emerged from behind the privacy screen wearing a fancy pink dress and a tiara. The dress was liberally spattered with fake blood.
“Carrie?” John guessed.
“Prom Night, pal. No pig’s blood for this girl.” Cadman twirled, looking suitably gruesome. “Teyla, you look amazing.”
“I could not let Torren see me in this costume. He would have been frightened.”
She’d been dressed up as Pinhead from Hellraiser, the pins soft and rubbery. Even John was a little freaked out by it. Teyla was a shoo-in for best costume contest winner. Well, until Rodney came stalking in decked out in his high-tech Aliens costume.
“Jeez, McKay. How high are those lifts?”
With some difficulty, Rodney pushed the mask part of the head piece back. “I’ll have you know this costume is accurate and fully articulated.”
“And a bit warm,” Teyla added. No doubt she was taking in the sweat already dotting Rodney’s forehead.
“Yes, well, I’ll make sure they do the contest first thing. I’m not wearing this all night.” He gave John a once-over. “Shouldn’t you get changed?”
John looked down at his Camp Arawak tee and khaki shorts. “I’m ready.”
“That’s not a costume,” Rodney countered.
“Oh. Right.” John reached behind him on the table and grabbed the wig. He slipped it on, then tucked a very realistic looking severed head under his arm. “Now I’m ready.”
Re: Fill 2/2: Team Sheppard + Cadman + Miko
Date: 2020-01-25 06:53 am (UTC)“You supposed to be a girl?” Ronon asked.
John flipped the long hair over his shoulder. “Nope. I’m a guy pretending to be a girl, who carves up a summer camp full of kids.”
“Shouldn’t you be wearing a hockey mask?” Cadman asked.
John grinned. His costume was going over better than he hoped. No extensive face paint or prosthetics for him. While everyone else got hot and uncomfortable, he’d be nice and cool.
“I’m not Jason Voorhees. I’m Angela Baker from Sleepaway Camp.”
“Seriously?” Rodney scowled down at him. “You’re representing a transmisogynistic film for the party?”
John stared at him. “I’m what?”
“That sounds bad,” Ronon said.
“It is bad!” Rodney gestured with one shiny black clawed hand. “That was a terrible movie, even without making the monster a trans kid. I can’t believe you picked it.”
John looked down at his camp shirt in dismay. He hadn’t really thought about it like that. As a kid, he just remembered being freaked out by the twist ending.
“I can fix it,” Miko said. She dug through her big box of costume supplies.
John ended up going to the party as a victim of the Great White in Jaws, his camp clothes torn and bloody, and big bite marks added to his arms and legs. Instead of being cool and comfortable, he was itchy.
Kavanagh ended up winning the contest with his eerily spot-on portrayal of Freddie Krueger, much to Rodney’s gall.
“You need to watch a better class of horror movie,” Rodney told John as they were getting ready for bed that night. “If it’s not bad science, it’s sub-standard slashers.”
“Next year I’ll go as Charlie Sheen’s character in The Wraith.”
“Oh, you mean the low-budget crossover between The Crow and Knight Rider? How are we even a couple?”
John pulled him close, glad to be rid of their costumes. “Because I’ve got the body and you’ve got the brain?”
“Lame,” Rodney said right before he kissed John. “Remind me to make sure all future costume parties are canceled.”
“I can think of better ways to celebrate Halloween,” John agreed. He thought the lights all the way down until the room was swallowed up by inky blackness.
As long as he had Rodney in his bed, he had no reason to be afraid of the dark.

Date: 2020-01-24 08:53 pm (UTC)The universe can manifest the opportunities you require at this moment but you must act to take advantage. If luck knocks at your door, you still need to open the door.
It’s like in this old joke.
A fisherman is caught up in a storm. His boat is sinking. Desperate, he prays to God.
“God, please save me, I’ll be good, I’ll repent, just save me”
A few minutes later, a boat shows up.
“Hi there, do you need any help?”, the good Samaritan asks him.
“No, no, God will save me”, the fisherman answers.
Perplexed, the savior leaves.
Ten minutes later, the same things happen. Another boat shows up. They offer to help him. The fisherman refuses saying that God will help him.
Eventually, the boat sinks, he dies and goes to heaven. There, face to face with God, he asks …
“God, why did you left me to die? I prayed to you and I promised I’ll repent for my sins”.
God looks at him and says “What are you talking about? I’ve sent you two boats”.
This is a joke, but this is how life works too.
We manifest opportunities but you must take advantage of these opportunities. If you are a real estate agent and you want to close a huge deal, your thoughts will manifest this opportunity. The universe will align the people, places and circumstances for this to happen.
But these people, places and circumstances won’t come to you in your living room. You must still act and do something.
Or maybe you want to find the love of your life.
Thoughts of love and appreciation will manifest your ideal partner but your partner won’t knock at the door and ask you for a date.
The universe is like a tree that offers you the fruits you need, in infinite abundance, but you still must grab those fruits from the tree.
And it all starts with your thoughts, with your beliefs.
Make a commitment now to fill your mind with positive thoughts. Make a commitment to think only thoughts of love and joy and wealth.
At first, it will be hard.
If you’re used to plant only poison in your mind, it will take a while until you take it all out. But once you do, you’ll notice something incredible happening. You’ll see how you’ll walk into the right circumstances. You’ll find yourself in the right places, at the right time, to get what you want.
How can I help you do this?
