Thursday: First times

Hello, everyone. I’m angelus2hot and today's theme is First times. Prompts can be anything related to your First times. First time they kissed, first time he/she/they rode a motorcycle, first time they held hands... etc.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

any, any, the first time they said i love you

FILL: Pilgrimage (2017), Brother Diarmuid/The Mute, hurt/angst

His brothers scream at him to return to the boat, yet he rushes headlong. The danger has gone, their enemy lays dead upon the sand. The last scouts have fled upon seeing the wrath of the strong man howling like a beast as he plunged the sword into their captain.

Brother Diarmuid prays to God to spare his beloved. He runs over to the kneeling man, his heart beating with such haste he feels dizzy. He finds salvation from the dread upon seeing that the Mute is alive.

The Mute has suffered wounds from the battle yet life still beats within his heart. Diarmuid breathes a heavy sigh of relief; some nights the thought of losing his soul mate hurts so badly he cannot breathe past the fear breaking his heart. He doesn’t think he will make it to morning, he swears he can feel his heartbreaking. That same sensation rushed over the young man upon seeing his soul mate injured.

Even wounded, the Mute smiles reassuringly at him, gently tugging him into an embrace. Diarmuid clings to the Mute, he begins to cry until his eyes swell shut, and he is such out of breath he gasps like a fish. The mute pulls back slightly, and they rest their foreheads together, he shushes the younger man softly. Heaven, heaven was found in the way their hearts beat as one while their breathing becomes in tune, like a soothing lullaby.

Slowly, Diarmuid clam, feeling his heart beat soothe. Gazing into the Mute’s eyes, he palms his cheek, softly, tenderly, whispering “I love you.”

Like diamonds in the sky, the Mute’s eyes shine brighter, and he smiles a grin that makes Diarmuid’s heart skip a beat. Although the Mute cannot speak, he presses a finger to the young man’s lips, signing, tapping gently ‘I love you.’
