Tuesday: 90s Music
Feb. 11th, 2020 12:01 amHi! I’m
brumeier, and I was so inspired by
cornerofmadness’s 80s theme that we’re going to hit the next decade – the 90s! Today’s theme is 90s MUSIC, anything and everything related to music in the 90s. Song titles, song lyrics, your characters as a Grunge band…if it’s musical, it’s good to go!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard +/ Any,
You tell me you're cold on the inside
How can the outside world
Be a place that your heart can embrace
(Heal the Pain, George Michael, 1990)
+ Prodigal Son, Malcolm Bright,
Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
(Basket Case, Green Day, 1994)
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tony Stark,
I’m too sexy for your party
Too sexy for your party
No way I’m disco dancing
(I’m Too Sexy, Right Said Fred, 1991)
+ Spooks | MI5, Any,
My mind is racing
As it always will
My hand's tired, my heart aches
I'm half a world away
(Half A World Away, R.E.M., 1991)
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Tony cleared his throat. “You know Cap -”
“Slept through the disco era,” MJ said.
Stephen, standing in the corner, crossed his arms over his chest and looked far too amused for Tony’s comfort.
“Well - Natasha’s old enough,” Tony said. “And probably much, much better at it than I am.”
Peter twisted around to look at Stephen. “You said he was a really good dancer.”
Tony’s eyebrows went up. “You put them up to this?”
Stephen raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. “No! I just happened to be talking to Wong one time, and it sort of came up that you’re - a very good dancer.”
It took Tony a moment to understand the emphasis Stephen was putting on that word, and then he rolled his eyes. “Stephen didn’t mean that I’m a good dancer.”
Peter cast Stephen a wounded look. “But you said -”
MJ started to smile and then covered her mouth with one hand. She’d caught on. Ned caught on a second later. Peter still looked confused.
Tony sighed. How could a kid so smart be so dumb sometimes? “All right, fine, I will help you learn some disco moves for your seventies-themed dance party, though why anyone would want to bring back the seventies I don’t know. Jarvis, pull up Saturday Night Fever.”
Peter cheered.
Tony mouthed to Stephen, You owe me.
Stephen shimmied his hips meaningfully, and Tony decided he could spare a couple of hours for his kids.

“I’m sorry,” Lucas said. His hands were shaking, and his breathing still sounded ragged. “I don’t know what is was, something triggered my brain and I was miles away.”
“That’s okay,” Ros said. “Take it easy. We’re here for you if you need us.”

Date: 2020-02-11 05:05 am (UTC)Fill 1/2: He is Psychometric, unrequited Jisoo/Seongmo + Ahn and Sooyeon
Date: 2020-02-12 03:24 am (UTC)Seongmo looked up when the door banged open.
Ahn, panting and flushed, came rushing into the apartment, barely pausing to kick off his shoes. He skidded across the floor in his socks, having foregone his slippers in his haste.
“I can never have sex!”
Beside Seongmo, Jisoo spat out her coffee.
Sooyeon managed not to spit out her coffee, but she started coughing, and Seongmo had to thump her on the back. Hard.
“What makes you say that?” Seongmo asked, ever reasonable and calm.
Ahn made a frantic gesture with his hands, which were hidden in the long sleeves of his hoodie. “Because someone else’s skin would be all over my skin and it would be terrible.”
Jisoo looked at Sooyeon, who raised her eyebrows. Most teenage boys didn’t think of sex that way, did they? But then Sooyeon looked at Seongmo, who’d never once noticed the way Jisoo threw herself at him at every turn, and wondered if that kind of obliviousness was - if not hereditary, inherited by association, given that Seongmo had more or less raised Ahn after his mother and Ahn’s parents had died in that apartment fire.
“You don’t have to be completely naked to have sex,” Seongmo said.
Jisoo, who’d tried to take another sip of her coffee, made a choking noise.
Seongmo thumped her back without looking away from Ahn and was completely oblivious to how hard Jisoo was blushing.
Ahn frowned. “Really? But - the diagrams in the health class textbook -”
“Are just diagrams,” Seongmo said. “I’ve seen it in porn.”
Sooyeon spat out her coffee.
Seongmo tutted and handed her a box of tissues.
Finally, Ahn looked embarrassed. “Hyung!”
“That we’ve confiscated for cases,” Seongmo said. He added, “I’ve never had sex myself, but based on what I saw in the videos, you could have sex with very minimal disrobing.”
“Oh. Really? But - there would still be some skin contact.” Ahn looked defeated.
“Perhaps if you used a condom, but I hear that kind of dulls the sensation. I suppose some is better than none?” Seongmo shrugged.
“You said you’ve never had any.” Ahn narrowed his eyes.
“I meant for other people.”
Sooyeon cleared her throat. “Isn’t it a bit late? For you to be having this discussion in health class, I mean.”
“Well, we had it a few years ago,” Ahn admitted, “but at the time I was still upset about Seongmo-hyung leaving me alone at the orphanage, and I didn’t really pay much attention. But it turns out that one of the girls at school is pregnant and Daebong is really sad about it because he has a crush on her but then we got to talking and I just realized that I can’t. Have sex. Ever.”
“Why?” Sooyeon asked. She looked him up and down. “You seem healthy enough. No need to be squeamish. I’m a doctor.”
“A doctor for dead people,” Jisoo hissed.
Sooyeon shrugged. “I still went to medical school.”
Finally Ahn seemed to really register the fact that two women were sitting on the couch opposite his Seongmo-hyung, and he turned even redder.
“Just - um. Reasons.”
Sooyeon eyed Seongmo sidelong. If he’d never had sex, perhaps he was asexual? It would explain his total oblivion to Jisoo’s crush on him, and to people flirting with him in general.
Then Jisoo’s eyes went wide, and she made a wordless sound of realization. “Right. Sex would be - no. You could never.”
Ahn’s shoulders slumped.
“Do you have a girlfriend or something?” Seongmo asked. “Is that why you suddenly care?”
Ahn’s shoulders tightened. “No. I have to go do my homework.” He turned and hurried to his room, closed his door too loudly.
Sooyeon asked Jisoo in a low voice, “Why couldn’t Ahn ever have sex?” Was he carrying some kind of terrible communicable disease?
Jisoo shook her head. “It’s not my place to say.”
Seongmo poured both of them more coffee. “About the murders in Yeoksam.”
Sooyeon flipped open the file she’d brought with her, spread the autopsy photos on the table. “Right. We’re here on business.”

Date: 2020-02-11 01:35 pm (UTC)Fill: Evan/Rodney, Rodney/John
Date: 2020-02-11 07:02 pm (UTC)He never stayed. Evan never asked him to.
“Back to the lab?”
Rodney nodded, pulling his shirt over his head. “We’re really close to cracking that code and I don’t want Zelenka getting all the glory just because he’s the one monitoring the data.”
“He’s such a glory hound,” Evan said with a chuckle.
That got Rodney to turn and look at him. “Was that sarcasm? Do you have any idea how cutthroat my department can be?”
“We’re all working toward the same goal, Doc,” Evan reminded him.
“Yes, well.” Rodney’s gaze traveled the length of Evan’s body, his focus so intense Evan could almost feel it like a caress. It raised gooseflesh on his arms. “You’re very distracting, you know. If I didn’t have to get back I might be talked into round two.”
“Next time,” Evan said.
Heat flared in Rodney’s eyes for the briefest of moments. “Right.”
He leaned over the bed and kissed Evan, and it was all Evan could do not to loop his arms around Rodney and keep him close.
When Rodney left, Evan rolled over and breathed in the musky, sweaty scent of him left behind on the sheets.
The sun was setting on the horizon, painting the sky a deep palette of red and orange and pin, but Evan only had eyes for the two figures on the end of the East Pier. Hate was a strong emotion, and an unhealthy one, but that’s all he felt as he watched them kissing. They were too far out to get a clear visual, but he knew who they were.
“This a private pity party, or can anyone join in?” Cadman joined Evan at the balcony rail. “Wow, that sunset is gorgeous.”
“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” Evan asked, and he could hear the anger in his own voice.
“As it happens, no. Are you doing a creepy stalker thing, or do you just like making yourself miserable?”
Evan didn’t bother responding to that. He wasn’t in the mood to be cheered up or distracted. It took a lot to get him to a place of anger and he felt like wallowing in it for a while.
“You were good for him,” Cadman said. “Top quality boyfriend material.”
“Wasn’t enough, though, was it?”
Evan didn’t know what he could’ve done any differently. He’d brought Rodney coffee and food when he was distracted in the labs. He made Rodney special desserts, and massaged all the knots out of his shoulders. By Rodney’s own admission the sex was amazing. Evan never made any demands, never issued any ultimatums.
No matter how good he was, he couldn’t compete with Sheppard. The Colonel couldn’t express an honest emotion without looking like he was in physical pain doing it, but he had the whole bad-boy-with-suicidally-heroic-inclinations thing going for him.
Evan thought he’d been everything Rodney needed. He didn’t understand why he wasn’t.
“Do you want the whole window/door spiel?” Cadman asked.
“Pass.”
“You wanna put some Nair in the Colonel’s shampoo?”
Evan snorted. “I don’t think that would be advisable.”
“How about some of Radek’s turpentine vodka and poker with the girls?”
Evan looked at the two people on the pier one last time, before they were completely swallowed up by shadow, and nodded.
“Yeah. Okay.”
“Good choice.” Cadman slung her arm around Evan’s shoulders and tugged him away from the balcony. “I hope you have plenty of money to lose, Major.”
Better than losing his heart.

Date: 2020-02-11 09:14 pm (UTC)Every time a girl came up to him and stopped him with a nervous, Oppa? he paused and smiled graciously, accepted the flower, inhaled its scent. It was his first semester as a university student - and his coming-of-age day. Of course he’d attended the traditional coming-of-age ceremony with his parents, but the traditional gifts on a day like today were flowers, a kiss, and a bottle of cologne. None of the girls were brave enough to offer him a kiss, but it was worth it.
Jinwoo tracked Eunwoo’s path across the quad. The beauty of digital cameras was that he could turn off the sound of the shutter. He didn’t need it any, adjusting the aperture and focus with expert hands. Plenty of other people were taking sneaky pictures of Eunwoo, and he even posed for some photos with the girls who gave him flowers, but none of those pictures would look as good as Jinwoo’s, because he had an epic zoom lens and years of experience as a photography from long before he’d landed a job at the magazine, and -
“Reporter Park? I’m assuming you have the twelfth flower to make it an even dozen.”
Jinwoo jerked back from his camera and peered over the top of the textbook. Cha Eunwoo stood in front of his table, eleven individually-wrapped roses in hand. He smirked.
Jinwoo tugged down his mask. “Ah - Cha Eunwoo-ssi, what brings you here?”
“The pictures you’ve taken of me. Delete them.”
“Pictures of you? What pictures of you?” Jinwoo fumbled for the SD card, glad that he’d harassed Kihyun into showing him how to sync his camera to his phone for emergencies like this one. “I’m doing a study on campus architecture.”
Eunwoo slid into the chair opposite him and laid the roses on the table. “My coming-of-age day. I’m flattered. There are so many other more popular, talented celebrities who are also coming of age today. Like Yeo Jingoo.” He leaned in. “But then today is your coming-of-age day, too, isn’t it? Seeing as how we were the same grade.”
Jinwoo blinked. Eunwoo remembered him from high school?
“From what I’ve already seen of the way you’ve decimated my colleagues’ privacy, I know you’re very good at getting the story,” Eunwoo said.
Time for a tactical retreat.
Jinwoo popped the SD card out of his camera and held it out. “I’m very sorry, Eunwoo-ssi. I’ll just be going now.”
Eunwoo’s hand closed over his wrist. “But you know the first rule of being a reporter, don’t you?”
Always get the story, Jinwoo thought. He’d heard it a dozen times, usually dodging heavy thesauruses his editor was flinging at him as he dashed out the door to get his next scoop.
“Don’t be the story,” Eunwoo said. He tugged on Jinwoo’s wrist, and Jinwoo almost tumbled across the table.
Eunwoo kissed him.

Date: 2020-02-11 03:24 pm (UTC)Fill: Evan Lorne/David Parrish (preslash)
Date: 2020-02-13 04:31 am (UTC)He’d been sitting quietly, watching as Major Lorne drew caricatures of his teammates. Watching those dexterous hands work magic with a simple pencil and the little sketchpad the Major kept on his person when they were offworld.
The Marines, who’d been joking with each other just a moment ago, fell ominously silent.
David honestly hadn’t meant to draw attention to himself. It wasn’t like he was a regular member of the team. He didn’t know the shorthand they had, didn’t have any context for the inside jokes. They didn’t purposefully try to exclude him, David knew that. Major Lorne especially was very nice about including him as much as possible. But David knew he was on the outside.
“Goodnight, sir. Doc.”
No words had been exchanged, yet the Major’s teammates decided they were all going to turn in for the night.
“I’ll wake you for second watch, Hopkins,” Major Lorne said as his men headed to their tents.
David was even more embarrassed when it was just the two of them sitting by the campfire.
“You don’t have to,” he said. “It’s late. I should probably –”
“Too late,” Major Lorne said, pencil already moving across the paper. “You have a very expressive face. I’ve been wanting to sketch you.”
David ducked his head. He was under no illusions about his looks, especially in relation to the Major who was so ridiculously handsome. David wasn’t masculine, not the way his father had always wanted him to be. He’d come to terms with that a long time ago.
“Head up,” Major Lorne said. “You have a great smile.”
“I do?”
“When you were looking at those crops this afternoon? You looked really happy.”
“There’s just so much potential there. The leaves, the roots, the vegetables – all of it can be used in different ways. If we can get them to grow on the mainland that will help Atlantis become more self-sufficient.”
Despite his father’s attempts to butch him up, David had pursued a career in botany because he’d always had an affinity for growing things. He understood them in a way he didn’t always understand people.
“It’s good to love what you do,” Major Lorne said. “We’re lucky to have you.”
David didn’t know what to say to that, so he just sat there staring at the dwindling campfire until his caricature was done. Only Major Lorne hadn’t drawn one. Instead, he’d sketched a picture of David examining one of the plants they’d seen earlier that day, his expression almost joyful.
“Is this really how you see me?” David whispered, holding the sketchbook in his hands.
Where were all the flaws?
Major Lorne ducked his head until he’d made eye contact. “You’re beautiful, Dr. Parrish.”
It was a silly thing to make his throat tight and his eyes burn. “David. Please.”
“David.” Major Lorne smiled at him, his dimples popping out. “You should get some sleep. We have a lot to do in the morning.”
It would’ve been easier to retreat to his tent. The intensity of the Major’s attention on him was making David nervous. He didn’t want to conflate what was probably just kindness. But he also didn’t feel he could leave.
“If you don’t mind, I’ll do first watch with you.”
“I’d like that.”
By the end of that first watch, David and Evan had some in-jokes of their own, and a plan for David to pose for more sketches once they got back to Atlantis.
