Fill Magnum PI (2018) Noelani/Katsumoto

“Hey, Doc, I need your help with... something...”

Magnum didn’t bother knocking as he pushed open the door to Noelani’s office; after all, why break the habit of a lifetime? He didn’t even pause for breath when he realised that she wasn’t alone and, moreover, she was with Katsumoto, who definitely wouldn’t approve of him asking Noelani for a favour - he knew she did it, but they had a don’t ask, don’t tell kind of thing going on. Plausible deniability was all.

But in those few seconds when he was speaking, Magnum realised something.

First of all, Noelani and Katsumoto were standing an awful lot closer than Noelani ever stood to him when she was doing him a favour.

Second of all, Katsumoto was looking down at Noelani and he was actually smiling. A proper smiling, with lips curled and teeth showing and everything. Magnum didn’t think he’d ever seen that expression on the other man’s face before, didn’t know he was capable of it.

Third, their hands. Noelani’s hands were flat on Katsumoto’s chest, while his hands were resting on her hips lightly.

Fourthly, and most interestingly, when they heard Magnum, they didn’t jump apart. Instead, they exchanged an look of annoyance and slowly stepped apart before turning to Magnum. One of Noelani’s hands went to her hip. Katsumoto’s were crossed over his chest.

“What is it, Magnum?” Noelani demanded. 

Magnum pointed between the two of them, his index finger flicking between them. “Am I... interrupting something?”

He knew his voice raised at the end there, just like he knew the answer to the question. Katsumoto fixed him with his best “You’re an idiot,” look.

“Yes,” he said firmly. “What do you want?”

Something, possibly amusement, flickered in Noelani’s eyes and Magnum held up his hands. “You know what? I’ll come back later. Much later.” He took a step backwards. “Doc? Call me.”

He couldn’t help but notice they were both smiling, hand in hand, before the door closed.
