MONDAY: Sun
Apr. 13th, 2020 01:02 amHello, everyone. I’m
ami_ven and today's theme is Sun. Prompts can be anything related to the sun – our own Sol, the centers of other solar systems, sunshine, just a sunny smile…
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate multiverse, any, sunrise on another world
+ Any, any/any, Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone…
+ Any, any vampire character, they miss the sun on their face
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2018 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2020-04-13 05:03 am (UTC)Fill: Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay
Date: 2020-04-13 06:52 pm (UTC)On the street below, humans were walking in the sunshine wearing t-shirts and shorts, tank tops and sandals, suits and skirts. They had no idea how lucky they were, what a privilege it was to just slip on some sunglasses or rub on some sunblock and go about their day.
Above them, the sky was cloudless and clear and the color of a robin’s egg. John did a lot of flying at night – planes had been unheard of when he was still human himself, and he’d been instantly infatuated – and it was almost transcendent, to be out there with an endless night sky glittering with stars. But John dreamed of vast blue skies, cutting through fluffy white clouds and into the sun.
Owning the dark wasn’t enough. He wanted to walk in the sunshine.
The elevator dinged, and John grinned. In the reflection of the window glass he could see Rodney, a canvas shopping bag in each hand, moving toward the kitchen.
“It’s hotter than hades out there,” he complained. “I hope you appreciate that amount of solar radiation I absorbed.”
John, who’d moved from the window to the kitchen faster than any human eye could see, was very appreciative. He could feel the heat on Rodney’s skin, could almost taste the sun captured in every bead of sweat on the back of Rodney’s neck.
“Such a weirdo,” Rodney said, but he tipped his head to give John better access.
John hadn’t felt lucky when he was turned all those decades ago, his life inexorably changed against his will. He thought differently about it now. He’d never say so out loud, but John thought maybe fate had been at play. His extended lifespan had led him to Rodney.
If he said such a thing to Rodney, he’d be mocked mercilessly.
“Hey! Stop that!” Rodney slapped at John’s hands, which were working their way up under his shirt. “I have to put the perishables away.”
“No-one’s stopping you,” John murmured against Rodney’s neck.
Rodney grumbled, shuffling towards the refrigerator with John plastered against his back, one hand on Rodney’s stomach and the other dipping below the waistband of his pants. As soon as he had the perishables tucked away, Rodney turned in John’s arms and kissed him aggressively.
“Why do you still have clothes on?” he asked, his lips moving against John’s.
John may not be able to walk in the sun, but the next best thing was getting to walk beside Rodney. It was the closest he’d get to touching the sun.

Date: 2020-04-13 12:20 pm (UTC)Before Catastrophe Strikes, Leonard McCoy + Nyota Uhura (Star Trek AOS)
Date: 2020-04-14 04:14 am (UTC)more or less,so I hope it's all right. ♥)"For the love of..."
"Everything okay?"
McCoy spun around to find Uhura standing there, amusement plain on her face despite her poor attempt to hide it.
"Just need to feel some solid Terran earth beneath my feet as soon as," McCoy yanked on the straps in his hand, "possible."
Uhura pressed a button on the console by the door. McCoy's bag fell from its clutches and swung into his leg.
"Thanks," he said gruffly, slinging it over his shoulder and following her down the corridor. Uhura's shore leave bag didn't look as full or heavy as some of the others McCoy had seen earlier. "Got any plans?"
"A spa day with an old friend. A massage will do me some good," Uhura said, rolling her neck and shoulders and wincing a little to prove her point. "You?"
"Going outside," McCoy said, gaze drifting into the distance, "to a park, with trees, to hike. Far, far away from crazy, suicidal captains and infuriating," he glanced at Uhura, "uh, people."
Uhura raised an eyebrow, but there was a smirk on her lips. "Don't you already do that sometimes?" Then she added in an undertone, "I know I do."
Just before he could answer, they reached a corridor lined with a clear view of the Bay area under a blue sky and a few stray clouds. McCoy gestured to it with a smile as he spoke.
"The holodeck ain't got nothing on that. The tech's great an' all, but it can't simulate an actual sunny day worth a damn." He stopped to place a palm to the thick glass, which earned him a short laugh. "Nothing can compete with that warmth. Go on, feel it."
"Can't argue with that," Uhura said, shaking her head and laughing again, while she mimicked McCoy. With their ship docked since predawn, it had indeed warmed during their final preparations to disembark. After a few seconds, they continued on their way in companionable silence and in good spirits.
Outside, the sun was bright and a touch too warm for their uniforms, but there was a cool breeze in the shade and no rain in the forecast. Not that McCoy would've minded a thunderstorm at this point. Hell, after this extra special round of being cooped up in a space tin can, he was ready to dance around in the rain and risk getting hit in the head by some hail.
Waving farewell to Uhura and a couple of other crew members as they passed him, McCoy was more than happy to settle for an uneventful day full of warm sunlight and fresh air.
(I'm giving Bones the gift of no outdoor allergies and no pollen-coated springtime shore leave. Damn right he's grateful. >:P)

Date: 2020-04-13 03:06 pm (UTC)Fill: Lucas (who else?!)
Date: 2020-04-14 03:31 pm (UTC)When Adam shot the padlock off the door sometime later, he found Lucas huddled in one corner. He whimpered as Adam approached.
Adam stopped and said quietly, “It’s okay, Lucas, it’s me, Adam. I‘m just going to stand here. Take your time and when you’re ready open your eyes and look at me. I’m not going to go anywhere.”
Slowly Lucas opened his eyes and looked up. “I can’t,” he said.
“No-one’s asking you to do anything,” Adam replied. “I’m going to come and sit with you and when you’re ready to leave, I’ll walk out with you.”
