Hi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’re going to be filling decade-specific themes, using 100 words or any multiple of 100. Today’s theme is the 1980s. Your prompts and fills can be anything and everything related to life in the 80s, including decade-specific songs, events, and movie quotes!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Any, Weird Science (1985)
+ Hawaii Five-0, Ensemble, A-Team AU
+ Sherlock, Sherlock Holmes +/ Any, “He has personality problems beyond the dreams of analysts.” (The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Douglas Adams)
+ Stargate Atlantis, Rodney McKay, “I’m not all alone in the dark. I like the dark. I love the dark. But I hate nature! I hate nature!” (The Goonies, 1985)
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

“I know, but I think your suggestions that he practiced infantilism because he didn’t receive enough love as a child was rather unkind.”
“I was merely attempting to answer his bizarre questions about my mother.” His partner says loftily. “You’d think a psychiatrist would have a thicker skin. And besides, we was wearing a squiffy old nappy under his suit.”

"I don't think anything survived thatexplosion."
Doctor Crusher looked uncomfortable, somehow. Her wavy golden red hair had somehow been morphed into curls approaching Deanna's, piled atop her head, and somehow it was shiny. An oversized white blazer, single-button and reaching well past her hips, wider at the shoulders than even Deanna's, stretched over a black skirt that rode every curve of her legs.
"How come you," here she indicated Riker, who had merely removed his rank and badge, "Didn't have to put on awful clothing and pretend to be...what were we trying to be?"
"Salesperson and salon owner, respectively." Data supplied smoothly.
"Because we had a job to do, history to set straight and if it called for me being mistaken for a man in his pajamas," Will clearly fought a smirk, "then so be it. Besides, it was all our associate's idea."
"Speaking of." Beverly said, as a middle aged man in a bad toupee came running up, a grin forming. He begin to peel off a fake mustache.
"You guys weren't bad for a bunch of...Canadians" he said, a twinkle in his eye saying he didn't believe that in the slightest but understood secrets. The crew murmured thanks as he pulled at the toupee, revealing a shock of short white hair.
A cigar appeared in his hand, a grin on his face.
"I love it when a plan comes together."

They watched as the werewolf ran round in circles chasing its tail, then stopped and began again in the opposite direction.

“Lucas, don’t split hairs! Our mission is to get inside the building, up to the fifth floor and remove Mainz, so that one of us can take his place.”
They split into pairs, in order to attract less attention, Adam and Ros going directly to Mainz’ room. Mainz was unsuspecting, and easily overpowered, and Ros took over. Lucas joined them and together with Adam bundled Mainz into a lift and out of the hotel.
Ros then returned to the hotel lounge and took up a seat where she could observe anyone who entered.
Jo sat nearby. “They’re coming in,” she said.
Ros watched as their targets scanned the room, before standing and nodding to them.
The couple came over, and the man said, “We weren’t expecting you to be a woman.”
“Many people make that mistake,” Ros replied. “Do you have the papers?”
“Of course,” the second replied. She looked round the room cautiously before opening her briefcase and passing over an envelope.
Ros accepted the envelope and they departed quickly. Ros looked over at Jo, who nodded, and said, “I have it all recorded.”

Date: 2020-07-02 03:47 pm (UTC)Fill (300): Marvel Cinematic Universe, Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes
Date: 2020-07-03 04:24 am (UTC)Steve looked up at him, wide-eyed. Bucky seemed so out of the place in the dining room, where everyone was dressed in their finest clothes and he had on a black leather jacket and a grubby pair of blue jeans. A peacock in a henhouse.
Even among the other staff members, Bucky stood out. It’s what first got Steve’s attention that first day at the resort.
Bucky held his hand out, and Steve didn’t even need to think about it. He reached out as well and let himself get pulled out of his chair.
“You look good,” Bucky murmured.
Steve was wearing his best tailored suit because it was the last night at the resort. Everyone would be driving home to the city and summer would be over. Steve wished it never had to end.
He wasn’t the same naïve kid he’d been at the start of the summer. Bucky had opened up a whole other world to Steve. Nothing would ever be the same again. He’d never be the same.
“Steven!”
“I love him, Ma,” Steve said. He knew she wouldn’t understand, but she needed to respect his decision. “I’ll see you later.”
Steve and Bucky left the dining room hand in hand. They walked up the trail to the staff cabins, a path Steve had become very familiar with. Steve had lost his virginity in Bucky’s cabin.
“I’m leavin’ tomorrow,” Bucky said once they were inside. “I’m gonna do like you said. I’m gonna go back to school.”
Steve hugged him. “That’s great!”
“I wanted one last dance with you.”
Bucky put a record on and swept Steve into his arms, just as they’d practiced all summer. And for the first time Steve didn’t miss a step.

Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me (I Want to Dance with Somebody- Whitney Houston)
Fill 1/1 (800): Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay + OC
Date: 2020-07-02 10:48 pm (UTC)What on earth had possessed him to come to Jeannie’s wedding?
They’d almost come to blows over it, Rodney and his sister. He disapproved of the groom, who was a mere English teacher, and he disapproved of Jeannie embracing a life of wifely servitude over the scholarly successes she could’ve had in aeronautics and astrophysics. In the end she’d bullied him into being there for her big day.
Jeannie and the absurdly named Kaleb were out on the dance floor, moving slowly together as the band played.
So tonight I'll ask the stars above
"How did I ever win your love?"
What did I do?
What did I say?
To turn your angel eyes my way?
It was a schmaltzy song, and the way Jeannie and Kaleb were looking at each other they should’ve been starring in one of those endless series of romcoms the Hallmark channel. They were all heart eyes and affectionate grins, and Rodney was jealous as hell.
Would anyone ever look at him that way? Like he was the best, most important person in the world? Would anyone willingly choose to spend the rest of their life with him, in sickness and in health?
It seemed unlikely. Rodney knew he was difficult, knew he put the work first above everything. If he couldn’t make room for someone else, why would they do the same for him?
“You’re sulking.” Gram sat next to Rodney, tossing her cane up on the table with a clank and the rattle of glasses.
“No I’m not. I’m eating.” Rodney popped another mushroom in his mouth in demonstration. He wasn’t sure he even liked mushrooms.
Gram took the tray and moved it to the other side of the table.
“You’ll find yours,” she said, no uncertainty in her voice at all.
“You have to say that. You’re the grandma.”
Gram jabbed him in the shoulder with one knobby, arthritic finger. “I say it because I know it. You have a big heart, Rodney. It’ll just take the right person to find it.”
“Sure.”
“In the meantime, this is your sister’s big day. Get that puss off your face and pretend to be happy for her.”
Rodney didn’t bother saying he was happy for Jeannie, even though he was. Happy, and angry, and jealous. For a long time, it had been the two of them against the world. Those days were over now.
Well, he was better off on his own anyone. He was going to make the greatest innovations the science world had ever seen, and he was going to win the Nobel Prize, and it hardly mattered if he’d have anyone to share the moment with him.
He was doing just fine on his own.
