Friday ✎ Something New
Jan. 1st, 2021 12:05 amHi and happy new year, y'all~! =^.^= Whew. We made it to 2021... Anyway... Thank you to everyone who has participated this week, whether by prompting, filling, drafting, or brainstorming!
✎ Today's theme: something new. New purchases, new creations, new relationships, new experiences, new outlooks... Let's add something to a character's life or expand a world, shall we?
A few rules to keep in mind:
Please remember to use the proper format for prompts.
➔ ➔ ➔ Fandom [/ Crossover], Character [+ or / Relationship], Prompt
Again, please include the full names of the fandom(s) and character(s). This makes it easier to add prompts to the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and to find prompts through manual search.
(Author's choice prompts and original fills are also more than welcome! ❤)
Examples:
We use AO3 to keep track of filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and (cross-)post it to AO3, please add your story to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2021 collection. For more information, please go here.
A backup version of this community is available on Dreamwidth.
If the plot bunnies aren’t biting you today, feel free to check out our Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets (here and here) or the community's archive calendar. You can browse the main themed posts and Saturday free-for-all posts for prompts to fill (and fills to read). Or you can check the Sunday posts for requested prompts (and fills written that week). There's also LJ’s advanced search options -- however, it currently seems to only search entries posted in this community, not comments.
While the above are available options, the simplest method might be to bookmark prompts that you like as you find them and return later when inspiration strikes. (There are no rules against multiple fills for the same prompt, by the way. ~_^)
Best wishes to you this January, and see you around! ♫

✎ Today's theme: something new. New purchases, new creations, new relationships, new experiences, new outlooks... Let's add something to a character's life or expand a world, shall we?
A few rules to keep in mind:
✦ No more than five prompts in a row per day
✦ No more than three prompts in the same fandom per day
✦ If one or more of your prompts is filled today, then you may prompt again
✦ Use the full names of the fandom(s) and character(s) in your prompts
✦ For prompts, no spoilers until one month after the release date (use a spoiler tag to hide part or all of the text)
✦ For fills, warn for spoilers, and either leave blank space before the text or hide the text under a spoiler tag
✦ Include a warning in the subject line for any possible triggers
Please remember to use the proper format for prompts.

For a single fandom:
✧ any TV fandom, any +/ any, "No, you may NOT bring that into my new car."
✧ any movie fandom, any +/ any, tickets to see a particular live stage performance for the first time
✧ author's choice, any (+/ any), moving stuff from their old bag/purse to their new one (and trying to declutter)
For multiple fandoms / crossovers:
✧ any two fandoms set in the same city, any +/ any, a shared new experience

Date: 2021-01-18 03:02 pm (UTC)Mildred eyes the food suspiciously. It looks anything but inviting, though the nurse shows a little smile at the sight of Gwendolyn's eyes lightening up.
"You'll love it," the secretary assures and takes one of the oysters into her hand, a sure grip on the shell without spilling anything of its slippery content. "Like this."
She adds some lemon juice (only a few drops) and then let's the oyster slip from its shell into her mouth.
Mildred watches and her stomach does a little flip; though not from the food, as she'll realize later.
"Looks easy enough," she says to cover her insecurity, smile faltering when she herself tries to pick one up. It feels strange, and her fingers struggle.
"Here," Gwendolyn offers softly. "Let me help you."
And sure enough she picks up another one, drips juice onto the flesh and guides the shell to Mildred's lips who doesn't even have time to be taken aback.
She feels the coolness of the shell (they are being served on ice after all) and smells fish and salt: the ocean.
Her lips part and Gwendolyn lifts the shell a little bit, so the food enters the nurse's mouth. It tastes exactly as it smells, fresh and luxuries and exotic, the lemon tickling her taste buds, the richness of the dish itself grounding it.
"Incredible," Mildred breathes, her face showing every bit of the surprised astonishment she's feeling.
Gwendolyn smiles affectionately. "Told you so," she says and proceeds to lift the napkin to Mildred's lips, who starts shivering as the fabric touches her skin lightly.
"You'd be surprised how many wonders the world holds, if one only dares to try them."
