Friday: 100 Words on Firsts & Lasts
Feb. 26th, 2021 12:11 amHi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’ve been filling some of my favorite prompt themes, using 100 words or any multiple of 100. Thank you so much to everyone who participated with prompts and fills this week! Our final theme is Firsts & Lasts. Any first or last time at any activity counts here. A first or last time doing something, feeling something, tasting something…feel free to use any of the five senses plus that sneaky sixth. ::grins::
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Multiverse, Any, final battle
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Any, calling first dibs
+ Astro, ensemble, first time dancing together
+ Any, any m/m, last kid moving out of the house
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

"And this particular Baskin Robbins is ... special ... to me," Scott called back to them from his position on point, leading the entire Avengers Team and all their friends to the ice cream place.

Date: 2021-03-23 11:29 am (UTC)He glanced over at Bin and Minhyuk, who had been training for six and five years respectively. Dongmin couldn’t imagine what the beginning of their training had been like, how hard it must have been for little kids to take the verbal abuse he’d taken and not break.
But then Minhyuk had been a good dancer coming in, hadn’t he? And the managers were probably nicer to them, on account of them being kids.
“If you survive this eight-week competition, you’ll be on a debut team,” Manager Roh said.
Beside Dongmin, Bin went very still.
Debut. The magic word. What they all lived for.
“So, show us what you’ve got,” Manager Roh said. “Prove that once you debut, you’ll be the best.”
The eight of them shouted as one, “Yes, sir!”
Manager Roh set his clipboard aside. “You’ll be dancing as well as singing or rapping, depending on your skill set.”
Bin and Minhyuk could do all three. Debut teams were seven or five boys these days. There was no way those two wouldn’t be on the team.
“Give me a preview. Just a dance.” Manager Roh plopped himself down in a seat in front of the practice mirror.
Jinwoo cleared his throat. “Now, sir?”
Manager Roh nodded. “Now.”
Dongmin felt panic rise in his chest. He was the worst of them by far, the worst singer and dancer. He was under no illusions that he’d been cast because of anything but his pretty face. The fact that he’d had good grades in school and was polite helped — idols had a personality and image to sell as well.
Jinwoo glanced at the others and said, “Okay. We can dance. How about Bang Bang Bang, everybody? We all know that, right?”
Big Bang was always a hit. They were so popular as a group. And Bang Bang Bang was such a popular song. Myungjun had less dance training than Dongmin, but he was good at being energetic for songs like Bang Bang Bang, could just let loose and give it the attitude it needed.
“Sure,” Junyong said.

He was free, in a way he could never remember being free, even as a child. The spy who they'd sent home, believing to be useless, was now a valued part of the team, with his own unique role. The affection the team felt for the werewolf was felt by the man, for the first time in his life. And above all else, he was loved.

Date: 2021-02-26 06:56 am (UTC)Fill: The Sentinel, Jim Ellison/Blair Sandburg, character death (400)
Date: 2021-02-26 08:05 pm (UTC)It was a shame the first kiss was so fleeting, because it was the only first kiss two partners would share. Blair determined there would be many more first kisses with Jim, to commemorate other firsts in their lives.
When Blair became a paid member of the Cascade PD Major Crimes division, an official consultant with credentials and everything, he and Jim kissed in the truck before heading back home for a celebratory dinner.
“Congrats, Chief,” Jim said.
Blair could feel his proud smile as they kissed, his hand braced on Jim’s thigh and Jim’s hand at the back of his head.
When Jim presented Blair with a new deed to the loft, one with his name on it under Jim’s, that kiss included a full-body embrace. Blair fisted his hands in the back of the sweater Jim was wearing, overwhelmed with emotion.
“You’ll always have a home here,” Jim promised. “No matter what.”
When they stood together in the doorway of Blair’s former bedroom, watching over their seven-year-old daughter as she slept – the adoption had been finalized that afternoon – Jim pulled Blair close and pressed a kiss to his temple. He rested his head against Blair’s.
“We won’t screw this up, right?”
“We’ll try our best not to,” Blair assured him.
When Jim accepted the promotion to Captain after Simon retired, they sent the kids to stay with Stephen. Jim’s kiss was full of desperation, and Blair did his best to soften it, draw it out, calm Jim down.
“I’m getting old,” he said. “Getting slow.”
“There’s nothing slow about you, big guy. It’s just a new phase of your life.”
When Jim found the little pile of notes in Blair’s desk drawer, Blair kissed him on the forehead.
“They’re to help me remember,” he explained.
“Remember what?”
“Every last first kiss we’ve ever had.”
Jim cupped the side of Blair’s head, fingers lightly pressing into Blair’s scalp, and kissed him tenderly.
“I still remember the very first one,” he murmured.
When Jim, old now, and weak, took his last breath, Blair was there. He shed a tear for the last kiss they’d ever share.
“Goodbye.”

"For me?"

Date: 2021-02-26 10:25 am (UTC)Fill: Trixie Belden Mysteries, Dan Mangan/Mart Belden + Helen + Trixie, Only Gay Son 'verse (600)
Date: 2021-02-26 04:43 pm (UTC)He always did have a thick skull, Helen joked, though Dan could hear the worry beneath her words.
Mart probably wouldn’t thank him for calling the parents, wouldn’t want to worry them, but Dan didn’t mess around with head injuries.
“I’ll have him call you as soon as he’s feeling up to it,” Dan promised.
Thank you. Give Mart our love, and take some for yourself, too.
Dan ended the call and pocketed the phone. He knew Helen would spread the word to the other Belden siblings, and then Trixie would be blowing up his phone with a million questions. Hopefully he’d have more answers by the time that happened.
He rubbed his hands over his face and pushed up from the wall he’d been leaning on. They should’ve gotten Mart set up in his room by now. Just a precaution, they said, until he scored better on the memory test they kept giving him.
“Hey, cowboy,” Dan said when he walked into Mart’s room. “How are you feeling?”
“Dan! Thank goodness. What the hell am I doing here?” He was sitting up in bed, fiddling with the IV port in the back of his hand. “I have to get back to work.”
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Dan asked, pulling a chair next to the bed.
Mart’s brow furrowed. He was pale, and his hair still had blood in it. Dan reached over and held his hand, giving it a squeeze.
“We have the special group coming in. I was finalizing plans for that. Has anyone called the Fitzgibbons? I’m supposed to do a riding lesson with them.”
“Everything’s being taken care of,” Dan assured him. “Bonnie, Clarence, and the whole gang send their well wishes. They want to make sure you’re 100% before you come back.”
“But I feel fine!”
“You’re not fine. You hit your head pretty good and you need to do what the doctors and nurses tell you. I don’t want to have to kick your ass, but I will.”
That was an empty threat. What Dan really wanted to do was crawl in bed with Mart and stay there until he was better. He’d never forget Mart being bucked off that horse, or the sound his head made when it hit the wooden fence of the paddock. Mart had been knocked out cold, bleeding like a stuck pig, and for one long moment Dan had feared the worst.
“You’d kick a guy when he’s down? That’s cold, Mangan.”
“Well, you know me. My middle name is ice.”
Mart snorted. “You wish. So what happened?”
“Something spooked Freckles. She sent you flying.”
“I don’t remember that,” Mart said, frowning. “Last thing I remember is sitting down with Bonnie.”
“And that’s why you’re here instead of back home in your own bed. The doc said your memory will come back, probably in the next twenty-four hours or so, but brain injuries are tricky.” Dan squeezed Mart’s hand again.
He didn’t want to telegraph how worried he was, but it was hard not to when he and Mart had already had that same conversation about twice now. The doctor assured him it was normal under the circumstances, but Dan wouldn’t believe it until he saw the improvement himself.
“What’s the food situation? I’m starving.”
Dan huffed out a laugh. “I’ll go check.” He stood up and leaned over, pressing a chaste kiss to Mart’s lips.
As soon as he stepped out in the hallway his phone started to buzz. Trixie, right on schedule.
Call me!

Date: 2021-02-26 07:04 pm (UTC)He reminded himself that he was quite safe, but he didn’t feel safe. The more he thought about it, the harder he found it to remember when he had last felt truly safe. Of course, he’d always been on edge in Russia, and his time in jail could simply be discarded, but since he’d come back to England he the slightest thing would still set him off. Before then, even with Vyeta, he’d always been afraid that the two sides of his life would collide, and he was never completely at ease.
He would have to go back to his teens, out by himself in the countryside. A time when he was able to be himself, away from people making demands on him, encroaching on his mental space, that had to be the last time he felt truly safe.

Date: 2021-03-25 03:34 am (UTC)Sizhui sat on one of the cots, his arm splinted and wrapped in a sling. He nodded, listening intently to Healer Lan Yiren as she issued instructions about how he should be careful and rest.
“First day flying on swords,” Lan Zhan said.
Lan Xichen raised his eyebrows. “Sizhui has such a strong golden core. I would have expected to see a different junior disciple here. Perhaps —”
Lan Jingyi burst into the infirmary.
“No running in the Cloud Recesses,” Lan Xichen said gently.
Lan Jingyi acknowledged him with the briefest of bows.
“Sizhui!” Lan Jingyi cried, flinging himself onto the cot beside his friend. “Does it hurt terribly? Will you need help feeding the rabbits?”
“I’m fine,” Sizhui said with a patient smile.
“I’ll do anything for you. You saved me,” Lan Jingyi said. “I’ll be your slave for as long as it takes for your arm to heal. I’ll feed you and write notes in lecture for you and everything.”
“I will heal quickly. Healer Lan Yiren is skilled, and Father will care for me as well,” Sizhui said calmly.
Lan Jingyi nodded vigorously, his eyes big and wet with tears.
Lan Xichen intervened before he could actually start crying. “Perhaps we should allow Sizhui to rest.”
Lan Jingyi nodded. “Yes, Sect Leader!” He stood up. “I’ll be back, Sizhui, to take care of you.”
And then he darted out of the infirmary.
“No running,” Lan Xichen called after him, helplessly. “Well, that explains why Sizhui is the one with the broken arm. Are you all right, brother?”
Lan Zhan nodded. “Sizhui will heal. I will give him spiritual energy.”
“Of course,” Lan Xichen said. But he could see the pinched edges in his younger brother’s expression.
He must have been terrified when he heard the news of Sizhui falling from his sword.
“Let me know if you need anything,” Lan Xichen said.
Lan Zhan nodded and bowed, and Lan Xichen left. The first time flying on a sword was always exciting — and dangerous. Sizhui and Lan Jingyi would remember that well, unfortunately.
But Sizhui had also demonstrated that he’d inherited his father’s willingness to sacrifice himself for someone he cared about.
Please, Lan Xichen thought, do not be cursed with the Lan love too young.

Date: 2021-02-26 06:11 pm (UTC)“Hyung, you’re okay,” Mark said, and it took a moment for Taeyong to process the words, because of course Mark had said them in English.
Mark always defaulted to English when he was scared or otherwise emotional, because he was Canadian.
“Hyung okay?” Yukhei asked. He wasn’t very good at Korean on his good days, and when he was upset or emotional, his Korean got worse. He squeezed them both tighter.
“I’m fine,” Taeyong said.
They were hugging him. Mark hugged people all the time. It was usually a bro-hug, because that was cool between men. Yukhei hugged people too, big bear hugs even though he wasn’t a bear (Ten was a tiger; Taeyong was a dragon; Yukhei was the only member of SuperM without any super powers, which was why he stayed behind in the Tower when the rest of the team went out on missions).
“What took you so long?” Mark asked, pulling back after Yukhei deigned to release the both of them.
“I stopped by a temple,” Taeyong said. He was a fire dragon, and he’d stopped by a small temple to absorb the smoke and flame and prayers to heal.
They’d fought a fierce enemy tonight, a water dragon. It had probably submerged itself in a river to heal; this wasn’t the last they’d seen of it, but they’d have a reprieve, at least.
“Told you,” Baekhyun said from the couch.
Jongin was fussing over him with the medical kit, but Taeyong crossed the den and knelt in front of their team leader, extended a hand.
“I can heal you.”
Baekhyun had an ice pack pressed to the bruise blossoming on his cheekbone. “It’s fine. When the sun rises tomorrow I can recharge. Which Jongin knows very well.”
Jongin tossed his head. “I’m sorry I wasn’t faster.”
“Light is faster than sound,” Baekhyun said gently. “You want to shower together?”
Jongin nodded. “Sure.”
That was Baekhyun’s go-to comfort, showering together. Jongin could seemingly teleport, moving at the speed of sound in short bursts, but he hadn’t made it to their team leader fast enough to intercept a strike from the enemy.
Baekhyun put the ice pack back in the medical kit, hauled himself up off the couch. “Let’s go. Taemin, you want to join us?”
Taemin shook his head. “No. The last time I took a shower with you, it ruined my airpods.”
“Because airpods aren’t waterproof,” Ten said. He was sprawled on the loveseat and looked quite comfortable, but he was probably injured and sore himself, taking it easy.
“What about you, Ten?” Baekhyun asked.
“I ordered some food. I’ll shower after it arrives,” Ten said, and smiled. He looked up at Taeyong. “You all right?”
