Paris was quiet, at last - Hawkmoth stopped and Ladybug and Chat Noir saying they'd still be around if needed but they, too, needed a break after working so hard. So while everyone celebrated the return of normalcy, the city's superheroes disappeared quietly. And afterward, the whole city seemed like it took its first real, deep breath, in a very long time. And after that, well, Tom decided they needed a break themselves.

"Close the bakery?" Sabine asked.

"Just for a couple of days. To give ourselves a break."

"Are we going on a holiday?" Marinette wanted to know.

"Well, no...we won't have time for that. But." Tom produced a pair of boxes for the lovely women in his life and handed them over. "Surprise!"

face was blank in response at first then her eyes widened and a brilliant smile splashed over her face.

"Go ahead, open them!" Tom urged them both.

Marinette tore into the paper while Sabine carefully removed the ribbon from hers. Even so, Sabine had her package opened faster than Marinette. "A day at the spa?" Sabine asked, holding up the gift certificate.

"What a perfect way to relax and recharge!" Tom beamed at Sabine.

"MechaStrike IV?" Marinette let out a squeal. "Papa, you shouldn't have!" She launched herself at him.

Sabine eyed them both, the suspicion deepening. "I don't suppose you bought these things before you decided we needed a few days off?"

Tom chuckled. "Honey, no. But." He raised a finger. "I figured you wouldn't want to stick around while Marinette and I play for a whole day."

Her good nature won out and Sabine smiled at them. "You two have fun then. I'm going to go get pampered."

Marinette turned to Tom. Her eyes shone. "Are you ready to play?"

"All day, sweetheart, all day."

Warning: What I know of this game is it exists? And Zelda is the princess? I think? And, most importantly, Link has a horse.

"You know this is going to be a really long quest, don't you, Brother?" Alphonse still wasn't sure if his brother was paying any attention.

"It won't take that long. We're smart." Edward rapped his metal knuckles against Alphonse's chest plate, making the metal 'boom'.

"And we have to travel. A lot."

Edward waved a hand at that statement. "Like we haven't traveled before."

"That was on trains, Brother."

"Uh huh?"

"The princess is not near a train station. She's absolutely no where near a train station."

"So we'll ride the train to the closest place and walk."

"There's no 'we', Brother." Alphonse sighed. "You'll have to go alone."

"What?" Now he had Edward's attention, albeit a very squinty-eyed glare was turned his way. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, you have to travel by horse."

"So we'll hitch a wagon..."

"No wagons, brother - wagons don't move quickly. And I can't run fast enough to keep up with someone on horseback." Even if I am a soul propelling a suit of armor as a body. "So...ah...I got you a horse?" Alphonse tapped his forefingers together.

"A horse."

The whinny made them both turn around and face the hostler, who rode up on a brown horse and led three others. The first thing that came to Alphonse was that the horses were tall. The hostler looked between them and said, "I didn't know I needed a horse for a knight."

"Ah, no, sir, I'm not going!" Alphonse almost tittered but caught himself in time. "My brother, he's the one in need of the horse." He gestured to Edward.

The hostler looked even less impressed. "Well, I didn't bring a pony."

Edward's eye twitched. "A pony?" he snarled.

Alphonse clamped a heavy hand on Edward's shoulder. "Oh, I'm sure one of these horses will be fine..."

"Uh huh." The hostler eyed Edward. "You even know how to ride?"

"Of course I know how to ride!" Edward fumed. Alphonse didn't mention the plow horse the Nedobecks' owned that he, Edward, and Winry had sat on when they were little kids. Edward didn't stomp up to the horses like he might've a person. He swayed a bit, studying them as best he could with them bunched up the way they were. "That one," he said and Alphonse wasn't sure how the hostler knew which of the three Edward pointed at but the hostler threw a set of reins and Edward coaxed one of the horses away from the other.

The hostler urged his horse and the other two out of the way as Edward talked to the horse he'd chosen, letting it sniff his fingers before he stroked its neck. The hostler said to Alphonse with a lowered voice, "He ain't gonna be able to get into the saddle. He's too short."

Edward pressed his hands together and then touched the dirt beneath his feet. Alchemy pushed Edward up - an earthen mounting block.

The hostler shut his mouth with a snap. "Damned alchemists."

If Alphonse could've smiled, he would've.

:D I *love* this. Full disclosure: I'm not a gamer & I've basically just seen one friend do a playthrough of one Zelda game, so I'm not really up on the lore or anything--but this was delightful. The short insults were A+, and the bit at the end made me lol. Thanks so much for writing a fill!!!
