May. 17th, 2021 10:00 pmHello, everyone. I’m
with_rainfall and today's theme is mystery. Prompts should be, in case you hadn’t guessed, be related to the word ‘mystery’. From police procedurals to cozy mysteries, the genre has enjoyed a long run. The canon doesn’t have to be a detective story. Mysteries crop up in all aspects of our characters’ lives from time to time - whether it’s a mysterious song heard on the radio, or the enigma of someone with hidden depths.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Any, any, “all my life has been a mystery” (ABOFAL)
+ Any, any, the mystery of _____’s real identity
+ Babysitters Club, any, Emily Michelle Brewer, finding her adoptive parents years later
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2021 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2021-05-18 12:49 am (UTC)“You are free,” Ayo says.
You are free, his body agrees, keeping still there on the ground, supported by the earth, in thrall to no words.
You are free, his mind whispers, almost too quiet to be heard above the sound of his breath, harsh and ragged in the quiet. The Winter Soldier never wept. Bucky’s eyes burn.
Firelight dances around him deep into the night. The film of tears in his eyes blurs the light, turns sparks and bonfires alike into tiny pinpricks of light; candles seen through dirty window panes.
“James.” A voice he never thought he’d hear again. Sweet in his ears, rich and real and familiar as yesterday. “Jimmy.” He takes the shamash candle, marveling at its smoothness in his uncalloused fingers, a deep and pulsing awe beats in the core of him as he gazes into the heart of the flame, so much light from one little wick. All around him he hears their voices, a strong arm about his shoulders, a little hand around his wrist, his family. He lifts his voice along with theirs and the old words, never more than half-understood ‘til now, peal from his tongue. He feels his heart beat in his throat, his whole body vibrating, buffeted by the songs and prayers of countless voices who have come before him, sung before him.
A log settles in the nearest fire setting free a geyser of sparks and embers and the White Wolf – little Jimmy – Bucky – sends his voice up, up along with them to mingle with the stars that shine down over Wakanda.
