Hello! It's my last time here and I hope you had fun, while I hosted around here :)

For my last theme I chose Important Dates. Wedding anniversery? Someone's birthday? 10 years from the war? Or Friday 13th? Calendars are important, make your characters pay attention to them! :)

Remember you are free to post up to 5 prompts at a time and not more than 3 per one fandom. You can add more once your prompts had been answered! Also remember to use the ‘fandom, characters, prompt’ format.

Have fun!

Supernatural, Sam/Gabriel, Do you know how long it's been since anyone called me by this name?

X-Files, author's choice/author's choice, 2012

Leverage, author's choice/Parker, Parker's birthday

"Did you pick up the cake?" Sam lowers his voice, although the kid has already raced inside to watch cartoons and can't possibly hear them, out here in the driveway of their little home.

"Yeah. It's in the vegetable crisper," Dean says with a smile, half at the cleverness of his hiding place, half because he has cake to look forward to. He locks the car, and the brothers walk together into the house in comfortable silence.

It's a cool autumn day, and the leaves the catch on gust of wind and swirl golden brown flurries around the little town are better than any ticker-tape parade. Seven years, and it feel like a lifetime ago, or another life entirely. If he doesn't look in the mirror, these days Dean can almost forget the scars on his face. His hands ache in the cold weather, but he blames it on his job and some fraction of that is true, because mechanics never have manicured nails. And if Sam's still a little quiet, a little reserved around people, well, who's to say he hasn't always been like that? That's why people become librarians.

They get by.

The kid helps. They don't know exactly when he was born: there was so much confusion around that time with towns being blown up and people dying. Keeping records of birth certificates isn't a huge priority when there's an apocalypse going on.

Celebrating the day they'd decided to keep him, gave him a name, was Sam's idea. After all, it had been a pretty big moment. They'd argued for hours over the name. John? Robert? Joe? Dean suggested 'Lucas' and a nickname at one point, but in the end they decided that the kid deserved his own name. A fresh start. And now, though they're not quite up to hiring clowns and inviting over classmates, last year they saw a movie to celebrate and ate candy until they all felt sick.

This year there's cake and presents. Maybe it means they're slowly becoming more normal.

While Sam goes upstairs to get the colorfully wrapped boxes they've had hidden under their beds for weeks, Dean retrieves the cake from it's hiding place. He can hear the television blaring from the living room, and can't help a grin as he sticks candles into the chocolate frosting. The cake is pretty basic - he's not exactly Daddy Warbucks - but he's taken the woman at the shop out for dinner a few times. She's drawn an airplane on the cake with white piping, which the kid'll love. He's kind of obsessed with airplanes. Sam thinks it might be something to do with him missing being able to fly.

When they're all ready - candles lit, presents stacked in a heap (with Dean's on top, because they're infinitely more awesome than whatever educational crap Sam will have bought) - Dean clears his throat, and calls out. "Hey Jake, buddy. Come here, we got a surprise for you."

And yeah, it's a surprise for the kid - okay, their son, since this is an emotional moment - but really it's a surprise for the Winchesters. That they're here at all, safe and yelling 'Happy Birthday!' and taking cheesy photographs to drag back out when Jake turns twenty one. That they're laughing and eating cake and having big family bear hugs in amongst the carnage of wrapping paper.

It's kind of a miracle.

This one's awesome, too. I've never read a fic where they changed his name to something besides Castiel, but it works.
