Hi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’re going to be tapping into some tunes for inspiration. Today’s theme is Songs in the Key of…Love! Your prompts can be any song title, set of lyrics, band name, or album title that has to do with love. From the first blush of new love to the bitter dregs of love gone wrong, it’s all fair game.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Astro, Ensemble, Grouplove
+ Stargate Atlantis, Evan Lorne/Any, Painted on My Heart (The Cult)
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Any, Everybody Loves Me (OneRepublic)
+ MI5|Spooks, Lucas North/Adam Carter,
But like heaven above me
The spy who loved me
Is keepin’ all my secrets safe tonight
(Carly Simon)
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2021-07-05 12:35 pm (UTC)“Thanks.” John nodded, shrugging out of his jacket and knocking.
“Yeah. Come in.”
“Morning, Greg. This a good time?”
“Good as any,” Lestrade said, stretching his feet out beneath his desk and folding his hands behind his head, stretching his back and peering up at John. “What’s up?”
John blinked, fought the impulse to look over his shoulder to see if he was speaking to someone else who’d come into the room behind him. “Um, isn’t there a…Sherlock said you had a case.”
Lestrade cocked his head to one side, but his bemused smile quickly faded and as it did he was left looking tired, hints of a sleepless night around his eyes. “He said that, did he?”
John opened his mouth to say yes, then paused. Thought back. He’d been buttering his toast, Sherlock pacing behind him, plucking the strings of his violin. He’d spoken over John’s shoulder, no more warning than lightning from a clear blue sky. ‘You’d better get down to the yard this morning, John. Lestrade will need you.’
“Uh, no, actually,” John said rubbing the back of his neck. “He just said you might need me for something.”
“Arrogant little bastard,” Lestrade muttered under his breath, though he looked and sounded as much impressed as annoyed. Then he reached into a drawer in his desk and pulled out a file, dropped it on his desk. “Divorce papers. Yeah. Decided yesterday, we’re calling it quits. How Sherlock knew anything about it…”
“Oh, don’t, it’ll drive you mad. I don’t even ask anymore.”
Lestrade snorted. “Not to mention asking just feeds his ego.”
“Yes,” John smiled. “It is a bit fun watching him squirm when you act like you don’t care how he figured it out. So, pints after work?”
“All right by me.”
