Merry Monday my lovelies! I remain
classics_lover returning for my second week hosting Comment-Fic. This week is all about titles, so keep that in mind when prompting. Mondays theme is Book Titles. Prompts must be the title of a book.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Good Omens, Aziraphale + Crowley, Life In Cold Blood (David Attenborough)
+ Star Trek (any TV), author's choice, After The Future (Franco Berardi)
+ Jurassic Park/Jurassic World, author's choice, Absolutely No Thoughts Of Pounding During My Fun Day With This Kind T-Rex Because I'm Aromantic And Asexual And That's A Wonderfully Valid Way Of Proving Love Is Real (Chuck Tingle)
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2021 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2021-08-02 03:51 pm (UTC)Fill: Martin Whitly (BTVS 'verse)
Date: 2023-06-28 01:16 am (UTC)Martin Whitly brooded.
There wasn’t much else for him to do, honestly. Just sit around his prison, alternately hating and loving the people who put him there and kept him there and refused to offer even one ounce of understanding or forgiveness.
Martin Whitly wasn’t his real name. Well, in a sense it was. The name belonged to the human vessel he’d commandeered so he could live undetected amongst the humans. No hellscape was as varied or vibrant or so full of rich, delicious emotion, and he’d enjoyed every microsecond of it.
His human family would be unable to pronounce his demonic name, even if they knew it. He had a third name, as well. The Surgeon. That was the name the humans had given him, a serial killer’s name. A monster’s name. They hadn’t known even half of what he was.
Martin was from the Death Collector clan and, oh, the collecting he’d done. He’d collected so much fear – rich, deep, heady – and so many experiences he’d never had before. He’d gotten married, had children. He’d lived.
He sure as hell wasn’t living now.
He wandered around his little bubble of existence, running his hand along the invisible barrier that kept him from returning to the world. Jessica had been good enough to at least transport his study when she banished him. He had his books, his journals, his thinking couch, and a picture of Malcolm and Ainsley.
Malcolm. His boy. His legacy.
Martin had missed so much of his life, trapped the way he was. Oh, he could visit Malcolm in the boy’s dreams sometimes. Fearful nightscapes, there. And the wholly unexpected, but appreciated, onset of Malcolm’s visions had also opened a crack for Martin to slither through, to communicate with his son more openly.
He’d never anticipated how powerful the fruit of his loins would grow to be.
Love and hate were the two strongest emotions, in any world, and Martin felt them both for his family. His heart swung back and forth between them like Poe’s pendulum, slicing deeply with each pass.
Jessica had taken everything from him. He was having a difficult time with forgiveness, despite the years that had passed outside the pocket prison that fucking witch had trapped him in.
Martin slapped both hands against the barrier and pushed with all his weight, shouting his frustration.
“I’ll find a way out of here!” he shouted. “Do you hear me, Mrs. Jessica-fucking-Whitly?”
He snarled and gnashed his teeth for a good minute or two, wallowing in his frustration and the bright, bright anger that burned at the core of him.
Then he let out a breath, ran his hands over his head – pushing his horns back under his curly hair – and shook himself out.
Martin walked over to the bookshelf, pulled down a well-read copy of Medical Anomalies, and settled down on the couch for a nice, quiet read.
He would watch.
And he would wait.
And his moment would come.
