[identity profile] cozy-coffee.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] comment_fic
Hello, everyone. I’m [livejournal.com profile] cozy_coffee and today's theme is Inspired by a user icon. Prompts should be based on a user icon.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ any, any/any, a cup of coffee on an autumn day
+ Teen Wolf, Derek Hale, smile so beautiful
+ any, any, running shirtless through a field of flowers

We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2021 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.

While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Myth, Hades/Persephone (Modern Dress)

He had first seen her in a field of flowers. Merc had bid him come. You’re not going to believe this girl, he’d told him. Drunkenly, but Merc was more often altered than not. There are no words in this pitiful language to describe her, he’d said. Beyond language.

We don’t have the same taste, my man, he’d answered. Spare me your idea of Beauty, eh?

Monday had been tucked up under his arm, as was her wont. All curved crescent shape of her body, all glinting silver jewelry and waist-length pewter grey hair, spectacular dye job with the black of her true colour beckoning beneath. He would nuzzle the nape of her neck and she would moan so quietly that even he wasn’t sure she had uttered a single sound.

He remembered she had cast a tragic look at Merc. The bar was dark, but he knew he’d seen it. It piqued his interest. Monday was the way he measured his days, told time, and he paid attention to her moods.
The next morning, he was standing meadow-edge, watching Merc handholding a Hasselblad of all the bougie damned things and directing the girl. He’d had to put his doctored java down on the hood of the car and bury both his hands deep into his trouser pockets just to steady himself. Girl, woman. Neither was correct. She was Maiden, through and through and he had never, not once, in his life, been as mesmerized by another body, another soul, as he was in those first moments. He wanted to break free of the earth and overwhelm her, scoop her up and disappear with her, in his arms, forever and ever. And thensome.

Who on this blossoming earth was she?

He stepped closer to the field of flowers that seemed to be her domain. That was it, he nearly snapped his fingers, slapped his forehead. Queen. She was a queen.

Merc had no idea what to do with her. Like this, he was saying. Like that, just like that. Don’t move.

No. He said quietly. His voice commanding, over and around Merc. Move, he told her. Move like the wild thing you are. Run.

A diaphanous skirt, bared feet, and ropes of necklaces. She had unbrushed hair and a slowly crooked grin. She lifted the cropped and tie-dyed tank over her head, braless, of course. The untried doe spooked by the imposing rack of antlers, she fled, looking over her shoulder, not at the camera but at him.

Any, any/any, We came from nowhere hiding from a storm / We cling together to keep each other warm

From “Road” by Paul McCartney
From: [identity profile] brumeier.livejournal.com
He stumbled through the dark, feet bare and vulnerable against a rocky, uncertain ground that was impossible to see. The night air carried a chill, the clothes he was wearing thin and insubstantial against it.

“Where are you taking me?” the other man asked. He didn’t sound fearful, just cautious. Wary.

“I don’t know,” he replied honestly.

He didn’t know where he’d been, or where he was going. Didn’t know his name, or the name of the man who stumbled along beside him, clinging tightly to his hand. Brother? Friend? Lover? The other man didn’t feel like a stranger, not deep down where instinct lived.

Instinct was all they had to work with.

There was a cry in the darkness, sharp and staccato, and he hunched his shoulders against it. Animal? Or a man trying to sound like one to go unnoticed? He hated not having the answers to any of the questions swirling around in his head. He wanted to know where they’d come from. Had they escaped? Were they being chased?

He had a sense there was a storm somewhere behind them. Not a real one, with rain and thunder. Something far more dangerous, an inky, insidious death that would make the darkness they were in seem like midday.

His feet hurt. He was pretty sure they were bleeding.

“We can’t keep going on this way,” the other man said. “We won’t know we’ve wandered off a cliff until we’re falling.”

He wished they were near trees. A stout branch could’ve helped keep them from plummeting to their deaths. But there were no trees, as far as he could tell. His night-blind eyes could only make out faint shapes, and everything seemed fairly flat. No hills or mountains. No trees. No place to seek shelter.

“We have to keep going,” he insisted. “Can’t you feel it? The storm coming up behind us?”

“I don’t…Maybe?

They had to keep going, but he stopped anyway because the other man was right. It was dangerous trying to make their way in the dark, when they had no idea where they were going. He shivered against the cold, and the other man wrapped him in a hug. He was shivering, too.

He closed his eyes, clinging tightly to the other man, and against the back of his eyelids he could see a blossoming blue light. He didn’t know what it was, but he immediately knew where it would take him if he could only find it – home. That’s where they were heading, out of nowhere and toward somewhere, and maybe there they’d find their memories, their identities.

“We have to head for the light,” he mumbled into the other man’s shoulder.

“You see it too?”

“It’ll be all right,” he said, “we just have to keep heading for it.”

He felt the other man nod. “If we fall, at least we’ll fall together.”

“No-one’s falling!”

He peeled himself out of the embrace, the chill sweeping back in to sap away the warmth they’d generated between them. It was hard, putting one foot in front of the other again. The pain of it made him hiss between his teeth.

He laced his fingers together with the other man’s, more afraid of losing him than he was of the coming storm. They made their way, slow but steady, until his feet started to go numb and his stomach was twisted with hunger and he felt chilled straight through to his bones.

Finally, the dawn came. A sliver of gray against the blackness that lightened and grew and turned a warm shade of orange. And there it was, in the distance, the flat and rocky plain extending around it on all sides and endlessly away toward the horizon.

A circle made of stone, the rising sun gleaming behind it like polished gold.

“Wow,” the other man said reverently.

He knew without knowing how that the circle would be their salvation, that it held within it the light that would ferry them back where they belonged. He looked over at the other man, who was pale and ragged, his cheeks covered in stubble, his eyes wide with wonder.

“Let’s go home,” he said.

“I’m ready when you are, buddy,” the other man replied.

Instinct had gotten them that far. He knew it would take them the rest of the way.
