Friday: Vacation
Nov. 26th, 2021 12:48 amHello, everyone. I’m
ami_ven and today's theme is Vacation. Prompts should be anything about or involving a vacation (or staycation)
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ The Mummy (1999), Evelyn O’Connell/Rick O’Connell, finally taking a vacation that doesn’t involve an archaeological dig
+ MCU, Steve Rogers/Tony Stark, sight-seeing in NYC
+ Any, any, a day trip to the Moon
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2021 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2021-11-26 10:56 pm (UTC)Summary: One of these days Scully is going to take the easy way out and just shoot Mulder.
XXX
“Mulder, what have you gotten me into?” Scully stared at the clown painting above her bed in horror.
“How could we pass up investigating the Belmont Mine ghosts after coming to Nevada to look into the UFO sightings?” He leaned on the door as if completely unconcerned they were literally in a hotel stuffed with clowns everywhere they looked.
“I’d have rather investigated Caesar’s Palace,” she muttered under her breath, opening the curtain. If there was a clown behind them, she was shooting Mulder. Scully’s breath caught in her throat and she stabbed a finger against the glass. “Mulder!”
“Yes, Scully?” A wide smirk slid across his face.
“There is a cemetery across the street from our hotel!” She shot him an accusatory glare.
He pushed off the door and sauntered over to her. “That’s what you get for falling asleep in the car. You miss all the little details.”
“A cemetery across from the hotel is not a little detail!” Scully hated her voice sounded so shrilled. “And the road into Tonopah was so boring. I’m surprised we both didn’t fall asleep.”
Mulder shrugged. “The Clown hotel and the Tonopah Cemetery are close to the mine so this makes it perfect.”
“Are there clowns in your dumpy room staring at you?”
“There are clowns in every room, Scully. I’m going to turn in. I’m beat from the long drive.” Mulder left her standing there looking out over the cemetery and the setting sun.
He poked his head back in the door before it had a chance to shut behind him. “Keep your camera ready though, Scully. The Clown Hotel is haunted. Good night.”
Yes, she was definitely killing him as soon as she found the perfect burying spot. Scully glanced back out the window: in a sad graveyard by a clown hotel seemed oddly appropriate for Mulder.

the clown motel (https://www.theclownmotelusa.com/) is real which I think a lot of us know. And it looks like the new owners cleaned it up a bit so they’re there when it was a bit more…dumpy.

Date: 2021-11-26 08:29 pm (UTC)Fill: The Baby-Sitter's Club (Netflix)
Date: 2021-11-28 04:31 am (UTC)Jessi's stomach fell. At the Pike house, that was quite the understatement. In her nearly thirty-two hours at Mal's place, dishes had been broken, Legos had been left forgotten all over the upstairs hallway carpet (twice at that!), and a screaming match had broken out at two in the morning over a hair clip. How her best friend could put up with that kind of stuff every day was both a mystery and miracle. Despite all her years of babysitting at her friend's house, none of Jessi's past jobs could have prepared her for actually living with the Pikes for a few days.
"How big is this problem?" Jessi looked to Mallory, but her friend kept her eyes firmly locked on her phone.
Mallory bit her lip. "Well," she said, her eyebrows narrowing, "my parents had a bit of a setback."
Jessi had to push back a smile. In a weird sort of way, they were lucky. At least this didn't involve screaming kids!
"What's wrong? I thought you said their flight went well."
Mallory pushed a stray bang back. "It did. The problem is..." Her hands trembled. "Has something ever happened to you that is, like, totally impossible? Not like it can't actually happen, because it's clearly happening, but you never expected it to happen?"
Jessi raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"
"It's just..." Mallory's face was quickly turning as red as her hair. She turned her head, looking across the kitchen. Hurriedly, she stepped forward and grabbed Jessi by the shoulder. "My parents got to their hotel and found out it's right by a nude beach." Her words came out in a whispered hiss.
Jessi stiffened. "What?" She blinked.
"Yeah," Mallory replied. "I'm not joking. Don't let word get around about this, okay? I don't need my brothers repeating it to everyone at school."
"How does that even happen?"
Admittedly, Mallory was probably the wrong person to be asking that question considering she always changed for gym in a bathroom stall.
"How should I know?" She stuck out her tongue. "Can you imagine looking out your window and seeing that?"
Yes - though Jessi quickly pushed the thought away.
"That sounds..."
"Awful? Atrocious? Nightmarish? Traumatizing?"
"All of the above!"
"Yeah," Mallory replied. "They can barely believe it. Mom is fighting to get a new hotel. If they can't, they might just fly back home early."
Jessi opened her mouth but then just as quickly closed it. How bad was that, really? Staying over at Mal's as a temporary live-in babysitter was less a vacation or extended sleepover than it was a test of her sanity. How the triplets could have just turned fourteen and still act like they were five was a question for the ages. Even Claire was better behaved than they were! And if she didn't have to listen to Nicky blast his weird digital music across the entire house or need to remind Vanessa to quit hogging the bathroom for the millionth time that weekend, would that really be a problem?
"I'm sorry, Mal." Cliche as it was, it was all she could get past her lips. Jessi reached a hand out, giving her friend's back three quick pats before hurriedly pulling her arm back. "I know that's not what you expected."
Mallory placed her phone in her hoodie pocket and brought her hands to her face. "This is the worst."
"Does this mean our pay is getting docked?"
Mallory shrugged. "How should I know? Jessi, I'm so scared. If my parents don't get out of there fast, I might get stuck with a new brother or sister!"
