Hi! I’m [livejournal.com profile] brumeier, and this week we’re going to be hitting the library shelves for some titles because I love me some books. Today’s theme is Book Titles: Travel! Your prompts can be any book title that fits this theme, whether or not the actual book is in that genre.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...

+ The Losers, Jake Jensen/Carlos “Cougar” Alvarez, Tales from the Gas Station (Jack Townsend)

+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard +/ Any, The City on the Sea (Heather Carson)

+ Prodigal Son, Gil Arroyo + Malcolm Bright, Odd Adventures with Your Other Father (Norman Prentiss)

+ Astro, Any, The Island Experience (Parker Avrile)

We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.

While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

But oh my word... This is giving me reason to revisit the "Chris Evans 'Truck Stop Hooker' photoshoot he did for Flaunt Magazine. Now I just have to wrap a story around it - which is already halfway done.

Fill: Jinwoo + Myungjun

Date: 2021-12-07 03:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] nagi-schwarz.livejournal.com
“When I said I wanted the island experience, this is not what I meant.” Jinwoo stared around at the debris that had washed up onto the beach.

He was -- a little numb. He and Myungjun had been headed for Jeju Island for a variety show shoot, the two of them plus a pilot and a bit of gear on a very small plane. There had been thunder and lightning and the plane falling and --

Just Jinwoo and Myungjun, waking up on the beach, surrounded by bits and pieces of broken plane and scraps of luggage and no way to call for help or get home.

Myungjun took a deep breath, rolled up his sleeves, and said, “Well, most important is drinkable water, food, and shelter. Let’s get to work.”

“And do what?” Jinwoo asked.

“Let’s collect everything that’s washed up and try to dry it out and see what we can use. Anything we can’t use for sustenance or shelter we can maybe use to make a signal so that someone flying over the island will know we’re here.” Myungjun padded down the sand and scooped up a sudden suitcase.

How was Myungjun so calm? Yes, he was the team sunshine, but right now there was no audience and no cameras. Why wasn’t he freaking out? Jinwoo was definitely freaking out.

But as Myungjun passed by him carrying possibly a piece of plane wing, he snapped Yah! and Jinwoo scrambled into motion to help.

By the time the sun was about noon high, they’d collected everything in sight and placed it high above the tide line to dry out (until it rained), they’d constructed a shelter by stringing up a blanket between a couple of trees, and they’d cracked open a couple of coconuts, drunk the water out of them, eaten the flesh out of them, and then rinsed them to use as bowls. The entire time, Myungjun was calm and thoughtful and reasonable.

After their coconut break, they resumed combing the beach for more supplies washed ashore, and they considered options for food. They could use a rock to sharpen a stick and maybe spear some fish in the shallows. They’d found some tin cups among the plane supplies they could use to boil water and make it safe to drink -- just beyond the trees there was a little stream that had fresh water.

Myungjun experimented, and they could use the lenses pushed out of his glasses and doubled up to start a fire. They agreed to just keep it going perpetually, because if there was bad weather they might not be able to start it again, so Jinwoo went to find fuel for the fire among the trees while Myungjun continued to collect plane debris.

By the end of the day, Jinwoo was exhausted, sick of coconut, and sunburnt. He and Myungjun curled up beneath their flimsy little shelter and tried to sleep.

Jinwoo closed his eyes and snuggled closer to Myungjun, because now that the sun was down it was much colder -- and he felt Myungjun tremble in his arms.

“Hyung?”

Myungjun sniffled.

Oh no. He was crying. He’d been so calm and hardworking and almost cheerful all day, but it couldn’t have lasted.

Jinwoo tugged Myungjun around to face him. “Hey. I’m here. We’re together. You did well today. You saved us, all right?” He fumbled in the dark, wiped away Myungjun’s tears.

Myungjun clung to him, crying harder.

“Hyung,” Jinwoo whispered. “It’s okay to cry. Just --”

Just Jinwoo was a sympathy crier, and he burst into tears, and they sobbed together until they both ran out of energy and tears, and then they lay there, gazing at the flames of their bonfire.

“We’ll be okay, won’t we?” Myungjun asked. “They’ll find us. We’ll make it home.”

“We will,” Jinwoo said, because he had to, he had to believe it.

Myungjun burrowed into Jinwoo’s embrace, and together they fell asleep.

They were awakened hours later by the roar of a helicopter and a man shouting over a megaphone.

They both scrambled to their feet and ran to the bonfire, scooped up the white shirts they’d salvaged and waved them back and forth, cheering and crying as a helicopter hovered above them in the sky, spotlight blazing down on them like sunlight.

They were going home.

“Do you trust me enough to join me on a wild weekend?” Adam had asked.

Lucas had thought and decided that he did trust Adam and hoped he hadn’t made a mistake. A wild weekend could be fun, or, if it involved caving or coasteering, it could be a total disaster. But if he was ever going to move forward then he needed to start trusting people.

Which was how he came to be paragliding in the Brecon Beacons. He had to admit that the sensation of flying was amazing, and something he wouldn’t have missed for the world. The views, as they flew over the national park were breath-taking. Once they had returned to land, Adam had insisted they get into the car and head off to their next destination.

They had stopped briefly for a picnic lunch, before starting off again, Adam insisting that they shouldn’t eat too much at the moment. Their destination turned out to be Penrhyn Quarry and the fastest zipline in the world. With more amazing scenery and a total adrenaline rush, Lucas had to admit that it had been a brilliant day.

The following morning, Adam insisted they get up early and once again they set off, heading this time to the coast.

“You’re okay in a boat, aren’t you?” Adam asked.

“So long as it’s a reasonable size, or possibly a rowing boat on a municipal lake,” he replied.

Adam seemed satisfied with the answer, so Lucas tried not to worry. They parked up and joined a group of people on the quayside. Shortly afterwards they embarked on a boat and were heading into the Irish Sea. There they spent a couple of hours spotting dolphins.

Lucas knew he was grinning from ear to ear and didn’t care. It had been a marvellous weekend and had confirmed he had been quite right in trusting Adam.

“How long do you reckon it will take us?” Lucas asked. They had come onto the motorway and were heading west.

“About five hours,” Adam replied. “You might as well grab some kip, you didn’t get much last night.”

“Fair enough. Then we can swap over for the last part of the journey if you want.”

Lucas quickly fell asleep. There were times when he still had trouble sleeping, but he was worn out from their latest operation, and with Adam beside him, unless he tensed up Lucas would be able to sleep soundly.

When he woke, he blinked and looked around. “It felt like I was asleep for ages, but I can’t have been judging from where we are,” he said.

“You were,” Adam answered. “There was a breakdown in the roadworks, and I’ve considerably revised our ETA.”

“Which means we won’t be there until late afternoon.” Lucas groaned.

“Is that a general or a specific groan?”

“Our late lunch looks like being afternoon tea. Not that I object to having tea, but how about we stop somewhere and get a decent lunch? By which I mean not the motorway services.”

Adam, fed up with crawling along the motorway, agreed to them coming of and heading cross country, and took the next exit. With Lucas map reading they found a suitable pub to stop at for lunch and then they set off again, this time Lucas drove, and Adam caught up on some sleep.

Adam woke as they pulled into a car park of what from his glance at the surrounding buildings was a country town. “Is there a problem?” he asked.

“Bookshop,” Lucas replied. “You can stay in the car if you like. I won’t be long.”

“I’ll get out and stretch my legs. I know you and bookshops, you’re never as quick as you think you’ll be.”

While Lucas disappeared into the bookshop, Adam strolled up and down the high street and then joined his partner. “Have you made your selection?” he asked. “Because it would be good to get to there in time to change and have a drink before dinner.”

“Almost. I just can’t decide which of these two to buy.”

“Buy both. You know you will anyway, and it’ll save us ten minutes while you think about it.”

Lucas laughed and paid for his purchases.

Adam took the wheel again for the final stint, leaving Lucas to map read and spot the correct turnings in the increasingly country lanes.

Finally they turned up the drive and came to a halt at the old manor house. Both got out of the car and stretched as their host came out to greet them.

“Did you have a good journey?” she asked.

“Where do you think we should go?” Much asked. They had decided it was too dangerous to stay in Nottingham. The Sheriff had been forced to house the Earl of Beverley, whose suspicion of Guy was rapidly making his place in the castle untenable. And the addition patrols through the forest meant that Robin and the gang were constantly having to move camp.

“I had thought of making for Worcester, but news from there doesn’t sound promising. I suggest we set out and see if we can find a small settlement where we can get work for a few weeks and then move on as necessary,” Guy replied. “It’s not what I’d hoped for, but it’s the best I can come up with for the moment.”

Much nodded. “So, neither here nor there. You know I really don’t mind where we go, so long as we’re together.”

As the sun began to rise they set off, avoiding the main roads, and keeping to the smaller tracks. Guy felt strangely liberated. For so long it had been important to have a place where he belonged, but now what mattered was simply being with the person he belonged with.

"John!" Rodney shout-whispered. "Which way?"

John looked around frantically. Damn. Everything looked alike right now. They had lost Teyla and Ronon in a scramble to avoid a crowd of children.

"You don't know?" Rodney sighed.

"At least you didn't lose me," John pointed out.

"For all the good that has done," Rodney muttered.

"Let's go over there and catch our breath." John pointed to a brick wall that seemed quiet.

"Okay, okay," Rodney nodded. They put down their packs and Rodney dug out a power bar. "Oh. Chocolate chip!" Rodney grinned. He tore off the wrapped and took a bite.

"Should have brought water," John commented.

"I'm not sure it's worth the risk to get a drink," Rodney nodded as he looked around the plant he was standing behind. "That mob is pretty unruly."

"I know," John agreed. "I can wait."

Rodney looked speculatively at the wall. "What is this for?"

John had thought of shelter, not as anything else. "If we follow it, maybe we can get out of here!"

"Let's go, then!"

It worked!

John took a deep breath of fresh air as Rodney asked, "Okay, we got out of the mall. Where did we park the car?"
