Hey guys! This is
havenward sliding in to cover for today. (Sorry, this week's host! Hope to hear from you tomorrow!)
They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but is that always true? Today's theme is about people being apart, or having to part ways for whatever reason. On the heart heavy side, maybe someone died. Maybe someone's trying to find who they are, or trying to get back to the ones they care about most. Maybe it's about love lost, or a reincarnation cycle that's skipped a beat. There's a lot of ways to do it, so let's see what you've got!
Just please remember to follow the usual rules.
No more than 5 prompts in a row, 3 prompts per fandom. If someone answers your prompt, you can prompt again.
No spoilers in your prompt for up to 1 week from the original air/publication date. If there's spoilers in the fic, please warn in bold and leave up to 3 spaces.
For the love of your code monkeys, please format your prompts. For example:
And do remember to thank your fic provider!

Happy prompting!

Firefly, Inara, the Guildhouse is solid and unmoving (and nothing close to Serenity)
Burn Notice/Leverage, Michael/Eliot, "Been a while." "Yeah, not since that thing in Venezuela with the running. And the guns."

Date: 2010-03-29 11:36 am (UTC)But they've stopped now, it's over, the two of them stopped it, or rather he stopped it, in a self-sacrificing manner that he had never expected of him, but then again he'd always known that the other man had the capacity to be great. But this was not how things should have happened, he sacrificed himself for him, but without him things seemed pointless in a way. Although he had never really liked the outcome of their battles, they always went their separate ways or people died, he looked forward to them in a way, just so that he could see the other.
Now he would never see him again, he was gone, stuck on the wrong side of a Time Lock. He would have gone as well, he'd rather be stuck in the time war with him, than leave him to face the deranged council himself. The other man had no idea how far the council had really fallen after the fall of Arcadia, and he was being left to their mercy alone. It hadn't been long but as he saw the Ood once more, having settled his affairs in order he couldn't help but worry for the other. No matter what others thought of their relationship they had been the antitheses to each other for centuries, and were more than mere enemies, he knew that as much as he would miss this body, that it was nothing compared to how much he would miss the other's body, no matter which incarnation, he'd miss him and what could have been.

Date: 2010-03-10 01:15 am (UTC)At least, she didn't think she was.
She was pretty sure she wasn't, even if she still has her white rabbit from the White Rabbit. Though, not The White Rabbits. (A lot has changed since she was there, after all. Everything has to grow up sometime. Even Wonderland.)
Parker tends not to think about it though, except when things are really bad. And things haven't been bad since Nate made their little group. Not since Hardison decided it was his job to cheer her up, and Sophie decided to teach her things. And Eliot decided to protect them all. He's good at protecting things. She thinks the knights would have liked him very much.
But then she sees him. She's sure it can't be him him, and maybe it isn't, cos everything has to change eventually. She isn't Alice anymore so maybe he isn't Hatter anymore. Except for how he is.
She sees the top hat in the crowd. It's a muted brown and not fuscia, no peacock feather or sizing card stuck hodgepodge down the side. But it's his. She knows it is, though she doesn't know how she knows, just that it's really knowing. Parker's glad they're not on a job cos it makes her lighter somehow. Like she'd taken a ride on the Cheshire and he'd gone poof invisible under her and she hadn't started falling yet. Or like when she'd eaten the bite of cake, and started growing and kept growing, and was still growing and growing...
She hasn't thought of Wonderland in a long time, but she misses it. The way it used to be, the way it was the first time. With horseflies made of horsies and dragonflies that were actually tiny dragons. Flowers that would sing, really sing out loud and in harmony. And Absolom, sweet, tetchy Absolom and his riddles and smoke.
And the Jabberwocky. It's just not the same as it used to be.
It makes Boston seem a little more gray. Makes the rush of jumping off of a building, just a normal red brick building that doesn't move, that doesn't breathe, seem a little less thrilling. Makes eating even a simple fortune cookie downright boring.
Parker finds herself sitting crosslegged on her roof, cuddling her rabbit and thinking about Alice. About being Alice. She wonders if the heartless bloody red queen has had her fill and is gone, for a while or if it's for forever. If she paints her roses red, or has her suits do it for her while looking on from her palace of cards.
If the reason Hatter's here is cos she's here too. Or if he's looking for Alice. For the real Alice. For her.
She smiles to herself at that. Parker's sure Hatter would like her new little family. And if she giggles at the thought of Nate meeting him, well. Her bunny isn't going to tel anyone...

Date: 2010-03-09 03:55 am (UTC)T:SCC, John/Derek, warning for incest
Date: 2011-01-24 04:07 am (UTC)“Can you do that?” Derek knows he’s not asking about the Turk, he’s asking about Wisher, no Andy Goode.
“I’ll get it done.” Derek promises. Wisher gave his okay earlier: “Something else?”
“What do you mean?” John asks back.
“What about you? I could join you when I’m done. Protect your younger self.”
“Don’t bother,” John answers but he looks sideways when he does, not at Derek and Derek knows that there’s something John’s not telling him: “Destroying SkyNet will be more than enough.”
There are things Derek wants to ask: why me? Why now? Why do send me on a one-way trip to the past? But he doesn’t. John doesn’t have any problems to lie to him if he does ask, or even worse he might tell the truth but Derek’s not sure that that’s a truth he wants to hear.
He regrets not asking the first time he looks at John Connor’s sixteen-year old self and discovers that he looks like Kyle. He is sick but everyone blames the meds for that. Sarah and John don’t come out and say it but he knows that John is Kyle’s son.
If he could ask John questions now, it wouldn’t be: why me? Or why now? It would be “Did you know that I’m your uncle when you kissed me?”
Deep down, he knows the answer already. He remembers only too clearly the last time he and John spoke, among other things they did during that few hours, and how John wouldn’t look at him.
John knew. As ridiculous as it sounds John knew of their relation and still made the first move.

Date: 2010-03-29 11:26 am (UTC)He would never have expected this, him the only remaining time lord, no others out there for him to reach. He couldn't feel any of them, no matter what time he tried, the Time Lords as a whole where never ones to travel but he'd even tried to go to times when he knew they were around, with no such luck. He was the only one left and it was so lonely in his head, he had no connection to the others at all, something that was all his fault. It was his fault that Gallifrey was gone, he was the only one who could have done it so he did. He was responsible for his own pain, he was the one that had created the Time Lock, sealing the Last Great Time War away, and with it the rest of his species.
The silence in his mind was self-imposed, but that didn't stop the feelings that came with it. Knowing that he had done this to himself made it worse, he'd cut himself off from all others like him, he'd come from a war that he'd been in to save peoples lives only to have condemned all the fighters. The loneliness in his mind was just his punishment, one that filled him with recrimination each time he thought about it. He needed a distraction, someone or something to ease the loneliness for a while, the TARDIS tried, but he needed someone he could show how wonderful the universe was, in the hopes that he'd be able to rediscover it as well. The loneliness he felt was eased a bit by the friendship that began with one word, 'Run'.

Date: 2010-05-09 04:44 am (UTC)And she thought about that when she was in bed with another man, about how much Phoebe Halliwell loved Cole Turner. She let a stranger kiss her. She let him slip off her dress and touch her in the way only her husband should. It wasn’t like she forgot. She remembered an apple peel forming the shape of a C and the way her heart jumped, beating quickly and giddily because she knew he was the one. She remembered their first date and their first kiss and the first time he told her that he loved her. She remembered what he risked for her, what he gave up for her, and the faith she used to have.
She remembered it all shattering on the floor like the delicate wine glasses she drank out of, all those fine breakable things he gave her to make up for the broken promises. Little pieces of her life picked up and thrown in the trash because that’s what Cole wanted. That’s what Cole needed.
And she did it because Phoebe Halliwell loved Cole Turner.
She loved him so much that she killed herself for him, left behind a pretty Pheobe doll for him to play with and went away to somewhere this shadow of Cole Turner couldn’t find her anymore.
The stranger rolled on top of her and she wrapped her legs around his waist.
Because Phoebe Halliwell loved Cole Turner but Phoebe Halliwell was gone.

Date: 2010-03-09 04:13 am (UTC)Hope this is what you were looking for
Date: 2010-03-29 11:25 am (UTC)Working freelance for Torchwood allowed him to travel a bit, but still having Cardiff and the rift as his home base. Travelling the Earth he thought that he may find the Doctor earlier than the card girl had thought, thinking that her prediction of one hundred years was only if he was to stay in Cardiff. That wasn’t the case though and after each successive year when the Doctor didn’t appear his ire grew. He had missed the man over the years, but he needed answers from him more than he needed to see him as he once was. What he didn’t know was that when he met whether he would kiss him or kill him for all that he had put him through over the years, even unintentionally.
