Hi, everyone, it's
templefugate. This might sound sad, but after two weeks of hosting, today is my last day. I hope you've enjoyed the prompts! I've certainly seen a few that I'm excited to fill. Today's theme is sound. Prompts can have anything to do with hearing.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Scream, Sidney Prescott, jumping at every little sound
+ MCU, Sam Wilson/Bucky Barnes, "Sounds stupid, I'm in!"
+ Any, any, tinnitus
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2021 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2022-01-28 07:14 am (UTC)A Little Too Perfect, Billy Hargrove/Steve Harrington (Stranger Things)
Date: 2023-03-13 02:37 pm (UTC)"...Right here. What do you think?"
"I don't know," Steve replied, sighing. He smiled as he hummed in response to Billy's next suggestion. "Yeah, not there."
"You want to watch me get mine? I'm going on my birthday if I can swing it. Probably a day or two after, though."
"Want me to hold your hand?"
"When? Now, or--Wait." Billy pulled back. He covered Steve's roaming mouth and stared him down, tense where Steve was still languid. That changed soon enough, however. Billy watched Steve's eyes widen, mirroring his own.
"Get down!"
"Blanket! Quick!"
"Crap, crap, crap..."
"Quit moving."
Outside Steve's car, a line of students from one door of the main building joined a line exiting from another door. Together, they walked across the school parking lot to a large open space as more than a few scattered teachers guided the way. They herded the teenagers into more lines and urged stragglers to keep up and pay attention.
Billy and Steve couldn't risk taking a peek out from under the blanket or moving more than a slow inch at a time. They were huddled together lower than the windows, but not by much. If anyone looked into the backseat, faculty or not, they would most likely figure out that the lumpy shapes beneath the dark plaid fleece were people. It wasn't a particularly thick blanket.
"You hear anything about a fire drill today?" Billy asked softly.
"No. Did you?"
"No."
In retrospect, the stars had aligned a little too well that day. Steve had study hall the period before lunch, with a teacher who had been so busy frowning at trig papers that she signed his hall pass with barely a glance at him. At the same time, Billy had history and government; the sub had been reading a book while the class watched a video when he left, quietly claiming that he needed to meet with the guidance counselor. They didn't skip the full period -- only most of it. Neither got caught sneaking out to the student parking area and over to Steve's usual spot, which wasn't fully visible from most windows. It was the one time they'd managed it so far without a single hitch.
"What are you doing?"
"Hair in my mouth."
"Yours or mine--Ow." Steve winced.
"Yours."
Steve tried to check the time on Billy's wristwatch. Billy massaged Steve's leg and helped him carefully stretch it out to the floorboards when it started to cramp up. The backseat of the Beemer really was in no way big enough for the two of them, and holding still for so long was proving to be impossible.
Finally, they heard the louder sounds of conversation, goofing around, and stern scolding that they had been waiting to hear. The crowd started passing through the parking lot again. Someone hit the trunk of the car, and it was a damn near thing that Billy was able to muffle Steve's reflexive "Hey!" before it really took off.
Just when they thought they were almost in the clear, the noisiest of the students already entering the main building again, Steve and Billy tensed at a particular voice calling out from a few cars away.
"Have you seen Hargrove or Harrington? We've checked off almost everyone else."
Their homeroom teacher.
Then, a much closer voice made Steve and Billy jump.
"No, but their cars are here. Can't have gone too far."
Coach.
They heard their homeroom teacher sigh, exasperated. Her next words were right outside the window above Billy's and Steve's heads and were clear as crystal among the assorted chatter around them.
"I swear... Well, we know which kids have no sense of self-preservation. Or they're thinking the same thing about us, coming out here."
Steve and Billy could still hear part of the conversation before the pair walked away and it faded into the background.
"Yeah, knowing them, they probably found ways to stay out of the cold. I wish I had."
"We told them no one wants to do a fire drill in January."
"It worked, though. Usually more than three wander off when the weather's nice."
Billy and Steve shifted to face each other, the dim light filtering through the fleece blanket outlining their features in the darkness.
"Three?" they whispered in unison. After a beat, they reached the same conclusion. "Munson."
