Prompt-wearing a cozy hoodie
Ted flinched as the second deadbolt slid back with a solid 'thwack'. Much louder than the first, he hadn't expected that so much. It wasn't like Steve lived in a bad part of town- and this was a new addition. Must have had the rental agency install it when he had been at the one-day conference the other day because he knew Steve wasn't quite up to the task himself. Not yet anyway.
Kate had dropped the key off this morning. Mornings were hers, evenings and nights were his domain. Apparently, Steve wasn't doing all that well and Ted didn't know whether he wanted to thank her or shake her for passing on the bit of information that in her opinion, Steve 'needed' his Gaffer.
Needed. He shook his head, stuffing that thought down, not wanting to contemplate the emotions and reactions that started whirling about in his head, his heart,...and other parts of his body. He took a deep breath and entered. Steve was on the couch, curled up in a ball, head tucked in against his chest. The hoodie of his sweatshirt over his head. When a closer look revealed the sweatshirt was actually the one Ted had brought over a few nights prior, all those feelings he had squashed down at the entrance flooded through him again.
Oh. Steve. He wanted nothing more than to go over to the couch and pull him- gently of course- into his lap. He couldn't. He shouldn't... Once, certainly couldn't hurt, right? He told himself as Steve, still in the land of Nod curled up, willingly once on his lap, nuzzling his face into Ted's neck, and pressing a sleepy soft kiss to his throat.
He decided to stop thinking so much and relaxed. Fallout, if any, could wait. The lad did seem to need him and God knew he needed him just as much.
